- Be Careful What You Wish For: The guardian of the wishes tries to invoke this on whoever reaches him, but Finn actually is very careful about what he wishes for and thwarts him. He wishes for the ancient psychic tandem war elephant he and Jake wanted, seemingly sacrificing Jake for it. He then has the elephant wish to save Jake and the Hotdog Knights.
- Epic Fail: The Hotdog Knights who got into the maze got lost right at the entrance.
- Everybody Lives: Finn achieves this by getting the war elephant to wish to save everyone.
- Fun with Acronyms: The Hot Dog Knights send a signal flare that spells out "B.U.T.T.", which according to Hot Dog Princess stands for "Baby Us Trouble Time".
- Ignored Epiphany: Right after saying he's learned his lesson about peer pressure, a nearly dead Jake is coaxed to stretch himself a little more by the knights.
- Literal Genie: One of the Hot Dog Knights remembers this trope too late.
- Loophole Abuse: Everyone only gets one wish. But since Finn wishes up an actual sapient being and earns his loyalty, he gets a second wish through the A.P.T.W.E., much to the frustration of Aquandrius.
- Only the Worthy May Pass: The war elephant will only serve a worthy person, who it recognises by its psychic powers.
- Spider Swarm: One of the traps is a similar swarm of scorpions.
- Too Dumb to Live: Some of the Hot Dog Knights get killed by their own stupidity and recklessness. It's part of the reason Hot Dog Princess sent Finn and Jake to help them.
- Trail Of Breadcrumbs: Jake nearly dies trying to be a living version of this.
- Wasteful Wishing: One of the Hot Dog Knights wastes his wish on a cardboard box, and a thoroughly exhausted Jake ends up wishing for a sandwich.
- Wishing for More Wishes: Finn gets an extra wish by wishing for the Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant, earning its obedience, and commanding it to wish for his friends to be restored.
