Basic Trope: The child is the antagonist to their parents.

  • Straight: Bob is the Teenage Big Bad who's out to kill his own father, Al.
  • Exaggerated: Bob is a sociopathic 5-year-old boy who's out to kill his parents along with the rest of humanity.
  • Downplayed:
    • While not a villain, Bob actively hates his parents and treats them with contempt.
    • Circumstances forces a reluctant Bob into conflict with his parents.
    • Abusive Offspring
  • Justified:
    • Bob believes that Al overlooks him in favor of his sister Alice.
    • Al was a strict, or worse, an outright Abusive Parent, and this led Bob to many levels of anger and resentment.
    • Al hurt Bob's little sister Alice, and this led Bob to hate him.
    • Bob is just naturally evil.
    • Al disowns Bob, and this brought a dark side to him.
    • Bob's mother, Lisa, taught him to hate his father.
  • Inverted:
  • Subverted: Bob soon becomes nice and respectful towards Al.
  • Double Subverted: ...It turns out that he wanted to play his emotions just for the sake of it.
  • Parodied: At the day of his birth, newborn Bob attempted to kill Al with a surgical knife. In fact, he's been plotting evil plans against Al from all the way back in the womb.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob only varies between staunch enemy or the son his father expects him to be.
  • Averted: Bob doesn't oppose nor dislikes Al.
  • Enforced: "We need a new villain. I know! Let's have one of Al's children turn against him."
  • Lampshaded: "I can't believe you would go against me, Bob! You're my son!"
  • Invoked: Emperor Evulz plots to destroy the father-son relationship by turning Bob against Al.
  • Exploited: Bob only becomes hateful towards Al so that he can join Emperor Evulz' side.
  • Defied: "I would never go that route in killing or hurting my own father, no matter how much I hate the old bastard."
  • Discussed:
  • Conversed: "I can't wait for the next episode to see Al ending Bob's evil plans!"
  • Deconstructed: Al was so shocked to see that his son Bob is going against him, that he can't bring himself to kill him since Bob was so dear to him.
  • Reconstructed: But since Bob has gone above and beyond the Moral Event Horizon, Al had no other choice but to kill him, thus saving the world.
  • Played For Drama: Al was an abusive father, but years have passed by and Al wants to make things right with Bob, only to find out that Bob will not let bygones be bygones and warns him that he will kill him and the rest of the family once he gets out of prison. This made Al anxious in leaving town.
