  • The album cover is one, surprisingly enough. It seems to be a peaceful tropical shore on a moonlit night, until you realize the "moon" is actually the lure of a giant anglerfish-like creature, whose toothy mouth you can make out in the sky.
  • "The Mind Electric" is widely regarded as the most disturbing song to come out of Tally Hall or their related work.
    • For starters, the story itself. Depending on who you ask, it's either about a criminal who gets executed by an electric chair, or a man who pleads insanity for committing a crime he was innocent of, undergoes electro-shock therapy, and actually goes insane. Not to mention the fact that he's specifically referred to as a minor. Some have connected the entire album as one story and have theorized that the song's protagonist (frequently named "Simon" after the original draft of the song) was convicted for the murder of his girlfriend (which he had nothing to do with), which makes his predicament even worse.
    • The whole song has a rather erratic, anxiety-inducing tone akin to a horror-themed version of Bohemian Rhapsody, with whimsical sections suddenly interrupted by dramatic opera-esque sections, and culminating in an awesome but menacing rock portion.
    • The song first plays backwards before finally playing forwards, which makes for unsettling listening.
    • There are two "final" versions of the song: a "clean" one you get if you reverse the reversed version at the beginning, and the "distorted" one that plays normally after the reversed version of the song. The distorted version has a lot of disturbing audio glitches that even incorporates samples from other songs, especially the random Mozart choir added in the middle.
    • This line. The fact that the final word is left purposefully ambiguous makes it even worse.
Here in my kingdom I am your Lord
I order you to cower and pray/prey
    • Listen carefully to the background of the second opera-esque portion:
(Help me...) AXON DENDRITE! (Help me...) AXON DENDRITE! (Help me...) AXON DENDRITE! (Help me...) AXON DENDRITE!
    • The fourth demo adds an even creepier verse to the "see how the serfs work the ground" portion (later taken out and the tune was retooled into the less creepy song "Labyrinth")
See how I laugh at you
You'll never understand... No, you'll never understand... No, you'll never ever ever understand
See how I run from you
I'll never ever understand... No, I'll never ever ever understand
      (Demonic Roar)
  • Murders is another unsettling song from this album.
