rey infinito/Infinity King (ジョジョの奇妙な冒険 無限の王)/El Aleph is a light novel written to commemorate the 35th anniversary of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and was published from March 19, 2022, to December 19, 2023 in JOJO Magazine. It serves as a midquel between Battle Tendency and Stardust Crusaders, detailing when the Speedwagon Foundation first became aware of the existence of Stands.

The year is 1972, and Lisa Lisa - currently the head of the Speedwagon Foundation - has sent some agents to Guatemala to investigate a supernaturally-powered serial killer. What they discover will shape the nature of their world for generations to come.

rey infinito contains the following tropes:

  • 11th-Hour Superpower: Lisa Lisa develops her own Stand in the finale, only deciding to use it against El Aleph.
  • Big Bad: Fernando Alhorn, a gang leader who uses an Arrow to form a private army of Stand users for his Cartel. This role is later replaced by Octavio.
  • Body Horror: Fernando Alhorn's Stand, El Corazón de las Tinieblas, allows him to alter the compositions of organisms or objects. Meaning that any part of your body (including skin, blood vessels, hair, and organs) will be switched around with another.
  • The Cartel: What Fernando spends most of the story trying to build up. The Final Arc introduces the Selva Cartel, consisting of Stand users of various ethnicities, some who would later be antagonists in Stardust Crusaders, and is lead by Octavio.
  • Green Thumb: Dos Santos' La Casa Verde can accelerate the growth of rhizomes to the point of creating an entire man-eating forest.
  • Reality Warper: El Aleph can create a never-ending night around the user, making anyone in the area lethargic, lowering temperatures, and negate life. Once its power grows enough, it can also create an indefinite amount of creatures from the darkness that wouldn't normally exist on Earth's natural habitat.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: This time, new Stands are named after novels. The epilogue reveals that the name "Stand" was partially inspired when Joseph listened to Stand By Me from Ben E. King on his Walkman.
  • Tomato in the Mirror: Joaquín is a Stand, created by Octavio in his youth. Joaquín was completely unaware of this, though Lisa Lisa suspects Octavio realized it at some point.
