- Poirot calls the English police very thorough. Coming from an Insufferable Genius detective who always shows up the police when they make a mistake and condescends to them, this is a major Pet the Dog moment for him.
- Well, it counts as Fridge Heartwarming too, as Poirot was once in the Belgian police. He respects the police of all nations, even if he may find them lacking.
- Elinor Carlisle is last seen exiling herself to a sanatorium, with only Dr Lord for company. All she asks is that Lord come and visit whenever he's free."Please come... very often..."
- Peter Lord feels that Elinor will never love him as passionately as she loved Roddy. Poirot gently says that yes, she did love Roddy that way... but Lord is the one who will make her happy.
- Mary talking about her desire to be a nurse and help people, and getting encouragement in this regard from Nurse Hopkins. Although the second part of that becomes Harsher in Hindsight with the reveal that Hopkins is planning to kill her.
- Elinor honoring her aunt's request to take care of Mary financially despite her own jealousy towards her.
