Diya solving the mystery?

  • Why did Diya decide to solve the mystery while getting her daughter's present?

Where've you been, Diya?!

  • Why did Diya show up out of nowhere in the mines suddenly after so many years without any buildup?
    • The mines were likely connected to Edna Perdue's lab, also explaining any slasher-killer teleporting Victoria was doing. It could be Diya could only navigate the mines for so long before risking Victoria noticing, and the times she could do so were very far apart.

Why didn't Sophie to go them?

  • Why didn't Sophie just goes to the Rogers or Blakes? Since their children are Velma's only friends, it would make sense if they actually would allow her to crash until Diya gets her memory back.
    • I can't speak for the Blakes, but the Jones look down on the poor and likely would have a low opinion of Sophie due to her being a waitress.

How to afford a house with no income?

  • Wouldn't Diya and Velma be unable to afford the house since it's she's not currently employed and couldn't pay the mortgage since it would be under her father's name only?
    • Maybe Mr. Dinkley still pays the mortgage?
    • Averted in season 2

Sexist Sherriff

  • Why is the Sheriff so sexist when he has two open lesbian cops in the department?
    • Because discrimination at the workplace (on the basis of race/gender/sxuality) is sadly a real thing no matter how diverse your workplace may be. It's why HR departments exist.

Shouldn't she have a different last name

  • Why is Velma's last name still Dinkley since she got the Race Lift?
    • I'd guess that 1), it was the show's creators keeping it consistent (the other characters, race lift or otherwise kept their last names) or 2) Velma's family changed their surname to something more "western".
    • Actually, "Dinkley" is English in origin. And since the British did occupy India for a while, it might be possible that Velma's ancestors in one way or another took the name and it stuck.

Newscast misnaming

  • Why did the newscast get Velma's surname wrong when mentioning her but not when mentioning her dad?
    • Either it was something to make us side with Velma being an underdog, or they did it on purpose as she is clearly very disliked.

Going to Juvie

  • Why was Fred sent to an adult prison when he should have gone to juvie?
    • He was likely tried as an adult

How underfunded are they?

  • Why did they say the police department was underfunded when in episode 9 they are shown having a tank?

Wouldn't that be the opposite of comfortable?

  • Why did they need to dirty up the house so that Diya could feel comfortable? It would be understandable if she came home to a clean house after being away for two years.

Shouldn't he be Suspect 1?

  • Why wasn't Aman a suspect for Diya's disappearance since their marriage was on the rocks the last time she was seen?
    • He had an alibi, being home with his daughter. Plus the police are clearly not the best around.

Shouldn't she be suspected, too?

  • Why wasn't Velma suspected of the murders after Fred was exonerated there could have still been suspicion back on her since she was the other suspect beforehand?
    • Maybe the second body was dated to when Velma was in custody or when she had an alibi?

Going after "hot girls"

  • Why did people forget that the serial killer only went after hot girls after episode 5 and just made it seem all girls could be victims?
    • Probably for a bit of realism because the victims had their brains scooped out and, while serial killers do have a prefered victim type, the killer in this show was more varied.

Popular brains

  • Why did the brains become popular again since they are just brains?
    • When people are thought to die, accurately or otherwise, opinion tends to become more positive about them, and the excitement that they survived is unlikely to reverse it. Also, brains surviving without bodies is also a phenomenon that would fascinate many, something that may spill over to the brains themselves.

What was the reason for hypnotism

  • Why did Victoria decided to frame Velma after she had already hypnotized her into having hallucinations to prevent her from further getting into her mom's disappearance?
    • Her motivation at the end was that she wanted Velma to "body snatch" her son, so it could've been some overly complicated (and likely poorly thought out) plan to motivate Velma to join her.

Poor?

  • Why are the Dinkley's poor when Aman is a lawyer (even if he's a bad one)? Not to mention after Sophie moved in they could have some extra money since Diya didn't seem to be employed at all.
    • While I know very little about lawyers, I think they need clients to get paid.

Huh?!

  • Why is Velma as a man treated as automatically having it easy when by the show's standards being an Indian man would still have it's challenges with racism?
    • Because the struggles would be a li'l more different, as her being a woman (women being considered a "minority") is another variable that adds ton it.

The transfer

  • In the flashback montage concerning Velma's grades, it is shown that Norville's mom was also her principal in middle school even though she is explicitly stated she is a high school principal unless she transferred to Crystal Cove High when her son started.

Using Diya

  • Why did Victoria use Diya to rebuild the project when she could have just done it herself since she is said to be a genius?
    • Just because you are a genius in one field, doesn't mean you are knowledge able about everything. Victoria was likely good at business, manipulation and the like, but knew very little on mechanics.

Unfaithfulness

  • Also why is Aman's relationship with Sophie considered an affair when everyone didn't know where Diya could have gone and for all they could know she at this point had the possibility of being dead.
    • The reasoning is in two parts... that matter (likely it was just for another "sh*t on men" moment). The first is that missing people would be declared dead after 7 years whilst Diya was missing for 2 and likely Aman couldn't find any real proof she could've been dead. The second is that people have varied ideas about marraige, some beleive divorce doesn't count. So people could still see Aman as married to Diya.

Was Spooners closed?

  • Who is left in charge of Spooners while Sophie was on leave?

Spooners being dirty?

  • If Sophie is a Neat Freak why is it mentioned that Spooners is dirty? Wouldn't she want her workplace to be as clean as her home?
    • Tidy doens't necessarily mean "clean", it just means tidy. The resturaunt is tidy enough to pass a health inspection but it's not a clean place.

Shouldn't Velma be in trouble?

  • Why didn't Blythe expel Velma after she got her home destroyed her home and accused her husband of being the murderer?
    • A principal has no legal authority to punish a student over personal matters. Velma did all that outside of school hours.
      • While that was the case, couldn't she get arrested for wasting police resources?

The show's

  • The show tries to say that American society puts white men (especially rich ones) on a pedestal, but at the same time Lamont and Fred get no respect from anyone on the show and were wrongfully convicted by a woman of color who had her testimony instantly believed by the police.
    • American society isn't a hive mind; some Americans can put rich white men on a pedestal in certain circumstances while other's don't in other circumstances.

Calling for delivery

  • Why didn't they just order a delivery person to give them the pizzas?

Velma locks her father (alongside Sophie and Amanda out of the house)

  • Why did she decide even after he finally believed her about her mother being kidnapped and helped her get into the Jones estate then call the police, that he deserved to be locked from the house with Sophie and Amanda? Even if he moved too quick from her mom, it still makes her come off as an even more of an Ungrateful Bitch who uses people and disregards them when they are no longer useful.
    • Meta reason; the writers expect us to side with Velma, despite all the horrible things she has done. Same reason why Diya was ok with it or how Velma is seen as a "great detective" when she barely did any real detective work throughout the series.

The adult focus on the girl's being hot

  • Why are the adults focusing on the girls being hot? The more realistic thing they would focus would be teenaged girls being targeted.

The serial killer killing people on the spot

  • Why didn't the serial killer just kidnap the girls then kill them when they were abducted at their hideout? It would have less people on their trail and evidence for them to look through.
    • Brains are easier to transport than people, and killing people and hiding their bodies near the hideout raises other issues.

Aman not getting Velma to the dentist

  • Why would Aman not care to take Velma to the dentist? Even if he's apathetic to her at times, he should at least be concerned when it comes to her basic health like teeth care.

The girls thinking that Diya could get them booze

  • Why would they think an adult like her would get them booze? Also since they are brains and can't eat why would they need booze.
    • Given living brains in a jar is something no one's encountered before, the brains can plausibly want to at least try and achieve an alcohol buzz through absorption from the surrounding fluid.

Victoria's decision to hypnotize Diya

  • Why did she hypnotize her instead of trying to convince her to work together until backstabbing her when she wanted to go on a serial killing spree?
    • She may have tried it, but Diya just didn't agree to it.

Velma's capabilities

  • Why is Velma smart enough to change the locks so her father, Sophie, and Amanda can't get back in, but not to change her own report card?
    • She could've called someone to change the locks, while changing her report card likely needed computer access she didn't have

The police not opening the gift

  • While it would be understandable why Velma personally wouldn't want to open it, the police should have opened it to give a clue to where she could have gone. It ultimately ended up being a nothing burger, but the police should have done it regardless.

Inefficacy of the uglification lessons

  • Wouldn't the killer just target another set of girls who were designated the most hottest of the school? This could also mean those girls wouldn't have protection from the killer as well.

Velma and Norville going easily in between school and the prison

  • Wouldn't anyone noticed they were gone especially since schools usually don't have short periods until people notice they were missing? Also would it take a while for them to get back and forth as well.

The police still believing Velma

  • Why did the police still believe Velma after she falsely accused Fred of being the killer, especially since the show claims that minorities' words (especially women) aren't taken seriously but again they instantly jump on her second accusation with Lamont without any hard proof given?

Victoria keeping Diya kidnapped

  • How was she able to get people to not noticed she was keeping someone kidnapped? She would need to have to feed and clothe her to prevent suspicion while keeping this all under her family's nose?

Victoria knowing how to open Velma's locker

  • How would she personally know Velma's locker combo to put Brenda's body in it?

Diya being suspicious that Aman knew Sophie's name

  • Why would it be unusual to know her name if her restaurant is a well-known throughout the town?

Brenda's shirt being down in the mines

  • Why was it taken down to the mines if she was killed immediately?

Fred and Velma being able to be in a strip club

  • How would they be able to get in since they are underage? Fred has the excuse his dad could bribe the owners, but Velma's dad definitely couldn't.

Diya's Van Being In The Mines With Her

  • Where did she get that van and how did it get down with her?

Daphne's Moms Not Knowing Diya's Name

  • Why would they have trouble remembering her name she was their next door neighbor and their daughters were best friends?

Needing help with homework

  • Why does Velma need Norville's help with homework if she's so much smarter than him?
    • Either she's lazy or is just saying she's smarter than she is.

The search for Fred

  • Why would Victoria risk foiling her own plan by sending out a search party to look for Fred when she was the one who kidnapped him?

Using hypnosis on Fred

  • Why didn't Victoria just use hypnosis to make Fred more competent?
    • It is established that snapping fingers causes the person under hypnosis to snap out of it, though that could be solved with post hypnotic suggestion.

Norville facing no consequences for killing Victoria

  • If law enforcement is so against minorities in this universe, why is Norville not facing murder or manslaughter charges?
    • Victoria was the serial killer and Norville accidentally murdered her in self-defense.
      • But Victoria was rich and white, which according to how the law works in this show should trump any evidence against her.

Victoria being unaware that she's a ghost

  • How could Victoria herself believe that she was a hallucination?

Scrappy wanting a new body

  • Why would Scrappy want to escape into the body of a normal teenage girl when his original body is nigh-invulnerable?
    • What prospects does he have? He's clearly on the run from the military and the fact he looks like a psychotic monster means no one is going to willingly approach him. Sophie already knew about him and what he was capable of, so she was more inclined to listen rather than run away.

No other ghosts

  • How is it Victoria and Velma are the only deceased characters that come back as ghosts?

Velma possessing Scrappy

  • How could the spirit of a normal teenage girl overpower the spirit of a super soldier? Also, why did Scrappy's body explode instead of Velma's spirit staying in it and Scrappy's being pushed out, like what happened with Fred and Victoria?
    • While I can't speak for the latter, the former is clearly because Scrappy (while a super soldier) is still a mortal being. Think of it like Superman's vulnerability to magic; there's no way his biology can compensate for that.
