Almost makes you feel bad for the guy, doesn't it?

  • The movie adapts the already funny “Saw in the Head” scene from the original manga and somehow makes it funnier, mostly thanks to Shigeru Chiba doing his usual schtick and Kaneto Shiozawa keeping his cool performance throughout.
    • The English dub arguably makes it even funnier thanks to the localized dialogue and some spot-on performances by Kirk Thornton and Gregory Snegoff:
Kubaru: I’ll give ya this much, ya got guts walkin’ in here like this! Gimme that! *grabs saw from another thug* So, with all due respect, I’ll let YOU be the one to cut his head off!
Rei: That’s quite an honor, but I’d hate for you to miss all this fun on my account, you sure about this?
Kubaru: Hey, what are friends for, right?
Rei: *flips the saw and shoves it deep into Kubaru’s skull, without changing his expression*
Kubaru: Wait a minute... *taps the saw nonchalantly* I was talkin' about the other guy.
Rei: Silly me, what a foolish mistake.
Kubaru: I got a splitting headache...
Rei: Oh? *moves the saw a bit, killing him*
      Kubaru: YEAAAAUUUUUUGGGH!!
  • During Rei’s first scene, he manages to steal a thug’s arms so clean and quickly the thug doesn’t even notice. That’s more cool than funny but then he proceeds to toss them back to him. The poor bastard actually tries to catch them out of sheer instinct. Black Comedy at its finest.
  • During the scene where Zeed's goons are chasing Bat and Lin, there's a moment where they're falling off a pretty big skyscraper. As they're falling, both of them are lifted up due to the gravity, but whereas Lin is lifted in a pretty dainty way due to her small size and grabs onto the seat, Bat starts swimming downwards in the air like he's in a Looney Tunes cartoon to reach the wheel. His reaction during all this is priceless:
    Bat: HOLY COW!!
  • During the scene where Raoh and his army arrive in a city, Lin is trying to get a good look but once Raoh notices her she gets so scared she backs out... only for her to claim that Raoh doesn't scare her and does the Eyelid Pull Taunt on him (once he's out of sight, of course).
