Funny moments in Epithet Erased: Prison of Plastic.

  • Molly, Phoenica and Trixie decide to spend the day finding stuff at the beach. Whoever finds the most unique thing wins a prize from Trixie's bag. What does Molly find? A dead body.
  • By the look of Rick Shades, the Neo Trio guess he's in his 20s. Which the narrator notes might as well be the same as being 40 to a bunch of children their age. This even comes up in dialogue later, with Rick being offended that the girls think he's that old.
  • Molly's sympathetic response to hearing Rick's story of his friends abandoning him and leaving him powerless?
    Molly: Aw, he's a loser.
  • Trixie meets Giovanni and is absolutely gobsmacked the "boss" Molly kept gushing about is actually just her dumb cousin. She then relays how Giovanni once ate a burning coal at a family barbecue, much to his chagrin.
  • Phoenica gives Rick her business card, which he quickly eats without trouble. She gives him another one and he continues to eat it. Trixie tries to get her to stop feeding him business cards, but she defends herself by claiming they’re bubblegum flavored and perfectly edible. When Trixie asks why she would own flavored business cards, Phoenica explains that it's in case she was ever stranded on a deserted island. They also work like flares — which Rick finds out after eating a third.
  • Molly has a habit of sometimes muting Phoenica and Trixie when they get into a mundane argument so she doesn't have to deal with it. She justifies this as being better than her becoming irrationally angry from their noise (due to her misophonia).
  • Giovanni's minion exam for Lorelai is effectively just The Great British Bake Off.
  • We later learn that the Epithet Erased universe has different countries and races that belongs to them. These countries are Taiga Country, Deepwood Country, Desert Country, Island Country, Ocean Country, and Australia. No, not Australia Country. Just Australia.
    • It's revealed in the promotional stream for the book's release that all the cities in Australia are named after other real-world countries. Oh, and it has live dinosaurs roaming the plains.
  • In retaliation for Rick chucking a magic bolt at her, Lorelai uses a spell to turn him into a newt. Trixie then corrects her that she turned him into a chameleon and explains the differences between the animals using sound effects.
  • The Hexicon that the Spelling Bee proclaims has every word known to man and bee is actually just Lorelai hiding behind a mirror with a dictionary.
    • Lorelai literally looks up Phoenica's name online to figure out how to spell her nickname, and still gets it wrong. Made even funnier when she remarks, just before making the error, that she would have spelt it with a "F" if she didn't look it up, so she's glad she checked.
    • The bee adds that he would have spelt it correctly if Lorelai didn't interfere, prompting her to delete him.
  • Lorelai asks Giovanni what his favorite flavor is to give her an edge, only for him to reply that his favorite flavor is "crunchy".
    • Gets better when it's revealed why his favourite flavor is "crunchy": Giovanni apparently permanently damaged his tongue during the coal-licking incident, making him unable to taste anything, so all he can go off of is general mouthfeel. Molly points out how that should be impossible since mouth wounds like that heal so quickly. Trixie responds that Molly is absolutely right... it wasn't just the coal-licking, but Giovanni continuing to constantly re-open the wound by way of refusing to wait before experimenting with his epithet, meaning it could never heal properly.
  • After meeting Martin, Giovanni snarks that parents are useless and annoying. The narration quickly follows this by noting that Giovanni is basically a parent to six kids, with another one (maybe two) on the way.
  • After seeing Giovanni's gargoyle powers, Rick asks him to be friends in the same sinister manner as usual. His response?
Giovanni: Whoa! A stranger with glowing black eyes offering what is clearly a deal with a demon? SIGN ME UP!
  • While sabotaging Lorelai's cookies, Trixie and Feenie mess with her hourglass, but to do that they have to widen the neck of it. So, Trixie twists her tail until it hurts and lets it spin around in the device. The audiobook uses an electric whirring noise like she's somehow turned her tail into an electric drill.
    • Phoenica's attempt at being bad has her writing "hello :)" in Lorelai's cookies.
  • Rick decides to make a speed potion using Trixie's skills and mixes random chemicals and broken glass together, much to Molly's horror, since Trixie can't actually make magic potions. Molly only learns after Rick drinks it in front of her that Rick can actually do whatever he thinks his soulmates can do, and therefore the potion doesn't instantly kill him. Phoenica is similarly shocked when she sees this later, but backtracks when Trixie angrily asks what's so surprising about it.
  • Phoenica picks a one-thousand dollar bill as an object she doesn't need to make a teleportation potion. Trixie describes her as having "object permanence issues" with money.
Phoenica: My financial awareness has been described by my family's stockbroker as "uniquely terrible."
  • Phoenica and Rick's favorite flavors are milk and black licorice, respectively. Trixie is disgusted.
  • Dark comedy, but during the final battle, Molly asks Giovanni to carry her, with the latter agreeing as Molly is very light anyway. Molly, with a smile on her face, states malnutrition can do that. Giovanni could only frown and make a mental note to get her some food later.
  • With everything settled and Molly needing a place to sleep and eat after the chaos that happened, and doubting her father and sister could take care of her, Trixie offers Molly to stay with her family for a few days. Giovanni, on the other hand, has another idea.
    • Giovanni, after picking up Molly, dashes to the door while laughing. Only to slam right into it because the door was locked by Molly a few hours ago. Molly, waking up a little, tells Giovanni to turn the lock. Giovanni thanks her and resume running like nothing had happened. He then laughs evilly and yells "LATER, SUCKERS!"
    • It takes Trixie, Feenie, Rick Shades, and even Naven several seconds to fully absorb the fact that their best friend/student was just kidnapped.
    • Giovanni calls Trixie to let them know what's happening, and the two (with Feenie) argue about bringing Molly back. In the end, Giovanni tells Trixie to say hi to his aunt and uncle. Trixie gives a big angry no, to which Giovanni responds that she can just talk to the dial tone then and hangs up. The audiobook even has a dial tone sound play for a few seconds afterward.
    • Hearing that Giovanni hit her dad with a baseball, Molly's voice is noted to have some emotion, but decidedly not a negative one. Listening to the audiobook, it's clear that she's amused to learn about this incident.
  • When Giovanni leaves with Molly at the end, he still leaves a friendly note for Lorelai to contact him once she gets her act together. But since he signed it with his real name, she has no idea who it’s from, since he only ever referred to himself as "Vincent Murder" the entire night, and she was never in earshot whenever anyone used his real name.
