Fridge Horror

  • Calvin is diabetic. That's a bad, bad thing to be in any kind of apocalyptic situation. Poor kid might not have the longest life expectancy.
    • Not to mention, it is never revealed if Calvin went through puberty or not (Tamara is scratched and confirmed immune but Calvin was just staying inside studying for an English test), so one bite and BOOM! we might get zombie Calvin. Lucy would have the hardest time putting a zombie Calvin out of his misery, since throughout the movie she acted like a surrogate mom of sorts to him. And to a lesser degree, both Wade and Clint acted like surrogate fathers.
  • Surely, there were other kids who, like Tamra, have already been through puberty. But since Tamara and Calvin were the only children rescued, imagine what those others must have thought when they found out they were immune but with no one rescuing them?
  • Concerning Rebbekkah's initial hostile behavior towards Clint as well as the part where she brings up a hypothetical scenario where Clint might get too handsy with her, all before the outbreak, one wonders what she experienced that caused her to act that way....
  • What did Tracy go through before the events of this movie that would make him want to hide his sexuality in the first place?
  • Considering how emotionally abusive Wade comes across towards Lucy during the outbreak, one wonders if he was like that even before the outbreak....
  • Fridge Horror actually related to the outbreak itself: Imagine how parents around America are feeling, forced to kill their kids to stay alive. Hell, witnessing said kids eat people should be disturbing by itself.
  • How are other cops throughout town handling the idea of being forced to shoot down kids in this situation?
    • There's probably a reason the virus reached near-apocalyptic proportions so quickly. Most adults don't want to harm children and that likely limited any containment efforts as police and military personnel almost certainly would be reluctant to mow down children, zombie or not.
      • This combines Fridge Horror and Fridge Brilliance together.
  • Since this virus only affects babies, toddlers, pre-schoolers, and grade-schoolers.... who's to say that it's limited solely to human children?
    • In other words, baby animals, like puppies and kittens, could very likely risk infection too.
  • Did the helmet kid turn into a zombie? Because a zombie with body armor is gonna be a tough one, especially since these zombies are shown to have some intelligence, meaning that a zombie helmet kid would be constantly trying to keep his armor on as long as he can.
  • Other than literally being born when 9/11 happened, what else happened in Patriot's life that made him so racist against Arabian people?
    • Considering how racist Patriot is, would it really be surprising if it turned out he was homophobic too?
    • Also, considering how these zombies retain some of their intelligence....does Patriot still remember his hatred of Arabs even in undeath?
    • Does Patriot also remember his hatred against his mother as a zombie?
    • Imagine the kind of man Patriot would have grown up to be had there been no zombie outbreak, or if he at least survived it...
    • It's pretty likely that Patriot adopted such horrid behavior (racism, bullying, saying he'd tell his parents his teacher molested him when he didn't get his way, etc.) from his own parents, given that his mother's immediate response to him telling her to fuck off is to say, "Fuck you, too!" to her elementary school-aged son. Patriot was a gigantic ass, even by Barbaric Bully standard, but the kid probably didn't have the most pristine home life either if we run with this theory.
  • Throughout the entire movie, not one infectee is seen turning onscreen. They’re scratched in one scene, and zombified the next. This can mean one of two things regarding the virus.
    • The virus is so quick to infect a prepubescent victim that they quite literally become zombies the instant they’re scratched (even faster than World War Z’s infamous 12-second zombies).
    • The virus has no symptoms whatsoever as it infects a child. The child simply becomes overridden with feral urges without any external signs.
  • Early on in the movie, its confirmed that the movie takes place during the summer, since Clint and the other teachers are working at a summer school. Since summer school is usually reserved for unruly kids with bad grades (as we can see with some kids being jerks or popping pills) or those who want to attend summer school (as we can assume with Calvin). This means that a majority of school-age children are out on summer vacation. Other than the fact that there was more than one infected chicken nugget (the piles and piles of black-streaked nuggets in the entertainment center), this would explain how the virus was able to spread so far at the end, especially considering the virus’s near-instant infection time.
