Despite the violence and gore, the movie still has its funny moments. Also, a majority of the cast are comedians, so it makes sense that there are funny moments in this zombie flick.

  • Doug's mispronunciation of "hypothesis" can be pretty funny to some.
  • While making fun of the infected Shelley, it’s clear that Dink is nothing more than Patriot’s butt monkey, since all he really adds to his insults is repeating them.
  • Wade missing basketball scores, just before carnage erupts on the playground. It can be pretty hilarious since he is the gym teacher.
    • Extra points to the many Bait and Switch moments when we are fooled into thinking Wade is acknowledging the carnage, when in reality, he acknowledges other subjects other than the zombies.
  • Rick (Jorge Garcia) hallucinating a giraffe in his van while under the influence of mushrooms is both weird and funny.
  • While the teachers are talking about things they always wanted to do/have (Rebbekah wants to fire an uzi, Tracy wants a pet rabbit), Wade gives a heartwarming speech about loving being a teacher and how he likes his coworkers. Then Doug casually mentions how he's always "wanted to have sex with a prostitute who is non-white".
  • If one were to look closely at the movie theatre posters in Danville, one can spot a poster for the movie. It's both funny how the producers included an Easter egg of their movie, and unique as well.
  • At the film's final act, Doug scares everyone with a party mask and a flashlight. This doubles as both funny and a jumpscare.
  • "Nugget out of here". Despite being a simple pun, it can still be funny.
  • Clint trying to write his horror novel.
    • Just the fact that, every time he tries to explain his pitch to others, they clearly know how bad it actually is, at one point he is even called out for clearly trying to write a boat knock-off of Christine.
Clint: [speaking into dictaphone] Chapter one. The boat was evil, but he loved the boat.
