These are recommendations made by tropers for Tin Man Fan Fics, all of which have to be signed to stay on the page. Feel free to add a fanfic of your own to the list, but remember to use the template found here.

Do warn when a fanfic may head into non-canon territory. Some people just don't like it, and as we all know, Shipping is Serious Business. You can also add to the current recommendations if you want. Refrain from posting Conversation in the Main Page though; that goes in the discussion page.

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

"Tin Man Fairytales" by animegus farmus. While not an actual series, the collection consists of Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Goldilocks, Snow White, The Princess and the Pea, Thumbelina, Little Red Riding Hood, Fountain of Youth, Pied Piper, Rapunzel, Azel and Glitchel, Beauty and the Beast, and Jorinda and Joringel. The similarity between the actual fairy tale and the Tin Man story is sometimes fairly vague, but each one is very entertaining.

  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: While not every story features a pairing (thus why it isn't in the shipping folder), the most common one in some of the stories is DG/Cain.
  • Synopsis: Described by the author as "where fairytales and Tin Man collided in my brain," each story stands on its own and steals aspects from classic fairy tales and incorporates them into the Tin Man universe. Without being absolutely bound by the exact traditions of the fairy tale.
  • Comments:The best comparison is how the Tin Man series itself is similar to the "Wizard of Oz" story without having to follow it exactly. While "Azel and Glitchel" is fairly close in many aspects to the normal "Hansel and Gretchel" story, others like "Pied Piper" are almost unrecognizable. That doesn't stop them all from being well-written or extremely fun.

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

Brother Raw Explains It All For You by Chibi-Kaz

  • Recommended by Allronix
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Cain/DG (implied)
  • Synopsis: Raw outlines a few rules for his fellow Viewers about the hazards of dealing with humans.
  • Comments: Raw is sorely neglected in the fandom, so Chibi-Kaz's story is a rare treat. Its tongue-in-cheek treatment of Dirty Mind-Reading and the hazards of being a magical-species empath stuck with humans is definitely worth a chuckle.

Tin Horses and Paper Planes. by The Watched Pot

  • Recommended by TVC 15
  • Status: Complete
  • Pairing: Glitch/Cain
  • Synopsis: A year after the eclipse, Cain returns to the Winter palace, but things are not quite the way he expects them to be...
  • Comments: This is a beautifully written work in progress, which explores Cain's acceptance of himself, and his growing relationship with Glitch. It is very refreshing to read a fic where there are still prejudices to be overcome - homophobic attitudes in an unenlightened world. It deals with male/male relationship and friendship, but contains nothing explicit. The characterisation and attention to detail is a joy to read.
