The Nyanny
is an AU of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, where everyone is their canon species but in a modern setting. Here, Catra is taking a gap year for her studies as a live-in nanny, and gets hired by Adora to watch her child Finn, completely upending their world.
- Alternate Universe: The story is an AU based on the modern world, but with canon species carried over.
- Artificial Limbs: Adora's company in this AU makes advanced prosthetics, and Adora herself has one for her left arm, which Finn calls "She-Ra".
- Disappeared Dad:
- Catra's father wanted nothing to do with her or her mother after the latter got pregnant.
- From pictures that Catra's seen, Adora definitely carried Finn herself, so their biological father is a mystery. It's later revealed that Adora used a sperm donor while in a relationship with a Magicat woman.
- Drunk on Milk: When Entrapta is doing a tune-up on Adora's prosthetic arm, she administers some drugs to help with the process. Unfortunately, due to her Workaholic tendencies, Adora starts acting drunk/high as a result, and Entrapta has to call Catra to get her.
- Parental Abandonment: Adora's partner when she had Finn via a sperm donor, Melody, abandoned Adora and their child.
- Related in the Adaptation: Several characters who were unrelated to Adora in canon, like Frosta and Mara, become part of her family tree here.
- Shipper on Deck: It's implied that some members of Adora's friends and family ship her and Catra.
- Sexy Cat Person: Catra is still a humanoid feline, and still quite attractive, to the point that one wife rejected her as a nanny candidate because she viewed Catra as too pretty to be left around her husband. Catra could have objected that she was a lesbian, but didn't want the job because of her sexuality.
- Tangled Family Tree: Adora's family tree is a bit complex, to the point that the author made a family tree to help readers keep track of it all.
- Unrelated in the Adaptation: Catra and Finn are not biological parent and child here.
- What You Are in the Dark: Adora apparently makes donations to places like children's hospitals on a semi-regular basis, but many of said donations are anonymous, or at least supposed to be.
- Workaholic: Save for when she's spending time with Finn, Adora spends almost all her time working, to the point that her sleep schedule seriously suffers.
