In an variant timeline of the one we know, Peter Parker picks a different way to shake his multiversal pursuers. Sent into the wider multiverse, he ends up in a place he's not supposed to be:

Brockton Bay, 2011.

The Long Way Home is a crossover between Worm and the Marvel Cinematic Universe written by Saucy. Taking place after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home but instead of Dr. Strange erasing everyone's memory of Peter Parker, Peter has him send him to a world where his multiverse pursuers won't find him.

The Long Way Home contains examples of:

  • The Atoner: Schrimshaw/Marrow is a former Empire-88 cape who left the group prior to the start of the story and is trying to help Asuka, a girl forced to be a prostitute by the ABB, escape from them.
  • Chronic Hero Syndrome: It wouldn't be Peter Parker if he didn't have this. Even on another Earth Peter can't bring himself to ignore people in trouble.
  • Despair Event Horizon: Marrow's death pushes Asuka to this, causing her to trigger.
  • The Dreaded: Lung is this for Brockton Bay. Many people tell Peter not to fight him alone or to avoid him altogtether.
  • Expy: Scrimshaw/Marrow is based on the Marvel version of Marrow.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: In addition to the issues in his home dimension, Peter's association with Schrimshaw/Marrow, a known Empire-88 cape, causes some people to believe that he's affiliated with them. Downplayed as those who actually know him or have seen him in action know that isn't the case.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Taylor still encounters Lung on her first night out on patrol, though this time she also encounters Peter.
  • Mythology Gag: Peter takes on the name Ricochet while in Brockton Bay, one of the aliases he used in the comics during the Identity Crisis storyline.
  • Point of Divergence: Peter asking Dr. Strange to send him to another world far enough away so that his pursuers won't find him instead of erasing everyone's memories of Peter Parker is what kicks off the plot.
  • Redemption Equals Death: Marrow is ultimately killed by Oni Lee while trying to help Asuka get out of Brockton Bay and away from the ABB.
  • Reformed, but Not Tamed: Marrow might be trying to turn over a new leaf, but she's still ruthless in her methods against the ABB. Peter has to rein her in to keep her from killing anyone.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Asuka uses her newfound powers to wage war on the ABB after Marrow's death.
  • Trapped in Another World: The premise of the story is the Dr. Strange sent Peter to Earth Bet in an attempt to shake off his multiversal pursuers. Peter can't leave until Dr. Strange locates and retrieves him.
  • You Are Not Alone: Vicky tries to get Peter to realize that he can come to New Wave and the Protectorate for help.
