Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it by Savana_Marlark is an AU fan fiction where when Tony Stark snaps to destroy Thanos and Thanos' army in Avengers: Endgame, he, Pepper Potts, Morgan Stark, and Peter Parker get pulled back in time by the Infinity Stones to when he is rescued in Afghanistan during the events of Iron Man.

Be careful what you wish for contains examples of:

  • Ambiguous Situation: It is deliberately left unclear if Peter being Tony's biological son is the result of the Infinity Stones changing reality or if he always had been. A case for either can be made. The characters even discuss it.
  • Artistic License – Law: Stark Industry's legal team basically handles the criminal prosecution of Obadiah Stain.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: SHIELD believes JARVIS cannot operate outside of Tony's mansion.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Due to Tony's strange and more secretive behavior in the new timeline, SHIELD is more paranoid about him and takes more radical action when it comes to getting information on him.
  • He Knows Too Much: Why HYDRA has Obadiah killed while awaiting trial.
  • Hollywood Law: Basically how Tony is able to get emergency guardianship of Peter after Ben and May are hospitalized in a car crash.
  • If I Wanted You Dead...: Tony tells Fury he could have easily killed the four SHIELD agents that broke into his mansion instead of sedating them.
  • Ignorant of Their Own Ignorance: SHIELD underestimated just how sophisticated JARVIS is, believing they could infect it with a virus to disable it and thus gain access to Tony's mansion during a commando-like raid. In addition, they believed nobody was at home at the time of their raid when in reality, Peter was being babysat by Rhodey. They are also totally unaware of Peter living at Tony's mansion.
  • It Can Think: JARVIS is more than just a rather very intelligent system. It has attained sentience and sections of the story are written from its POV.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Ben and May reluctantly agree that Peter is better off with Tony, especially while they are recovering from their injuries.
  • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: In the future, during the final battle against Thanos, Peter was 17 years old. When he arrives in the past, he is physically 8 years old. Due to the differences in brain structure and chemistry between a nearly adult teenager and an 8-year-old child, Peter reacts to things more like an 8-year-old even though he has his memories and knowledge of his 17-year-old self.
  • Noodle Incident: The omelette disaster of ‘05. Tony was banned from the kitchen after that.
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: In chapter 16, Peter reflects that with being Tony's son, he can't go back to being a normal kid from Queens. At least as normal as he could be with the abilities he got from the spider bite. His new life comes with a legacy, a company, expectations, and press that will never leave him alone.
  • Papa Wolf: JARVIS. Threaten the life of someone under its protection and you may not live to tell the tale.
  • Peggy Sue: As Tony is dying after defeating Thanos using the Infinity Stones, he wishes to prevent his death so his family can be whole. As a result, the Infinity Stones send him, Pepper, Morgan, and Peter back in time 15 years to their younger selves.
  • Related in the Adaptation: Peter is discovered to be Tony's biological son. It is deliberately left unclear if this is due to the Infinity Stones rewriting reality or if Peter always had been.
