Darth Wiki / The Auxiliary List

Go To

A science-fiction fantasy that takes place on a distant and generally Crapsack World quite like and unlike Earth.

Two powerful and sufficiently advanced countries are at each other's throats, and when Arcodric Feltaryn the grandson of an important political figure is temporarily exiled as a part of a common Rite of Passage, he is confronted by a golden figure who is secretly pursued by his country's military. He is unwillingly given a burden in the form of a powerful— and potentially magical— artifact: The Eye of the Trickster. It's not very long after that moment that Arcodric meets a foreigner named Rosen. He calls himself an "auxiliary"; he has the ability to manipulate electricity and was, non-coincidentally, also looking for The Eye.

Arcodric grudgingly agrees to partner up with him till he can safely rid himself of the Clingy MacGuffin while travelling through war torn world and dodging specifically tasked government agencies to meet a mysterious "goddess" that Rosen believes will help.

It becomes painfully apparent, however, that everyone, friend and foe, has their own disturbing secrets.

This currently non-existent work contains examples of:

  • Aerith and Bob: Names like Arcodric and Bryan existing in the same society.
  • Action Survivor: Arcodric.
  • Anonymous Benefactor: Hylas.
  • Awesome by Analysis: Rosen is incredibly gifted with interpreting vague images, distances, and numbers and can learn completely new things very quickly in spite being very uneducated when compared to the rest of the cast.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: When The Trickster puts his Eye into the space above Arco's collarbone, no amount of pulling, prying, cutting or murder will make come out.
  • Clock King: Bryan seems to be amazing at figuring out the schedules, times, and exactly when anyone should be at a specific place. By extension, he's very good at deducing behavior. This trait often causes him to play Xanatos Speed Chess with Rosen when it comes to last second plan improvising on both their parts in reaction to each other's perceived plans.
  • Elemental Powers: All auxiliaries have some kind of elemental manipulation ability that seems to be present on a genetic, and subsequently, a cellular level. To researchers who have studied Bryan, it is apparently not a trait that can be, or has been, passed on genetically.
    • Making a Splash: Celecorei has the apparent ability to manipulate the movement and state of water, and only water.
    • Playing with Fire: Bryan is extremely resistant to heat, can set his own body parts on fire at will, and is pyrokinetic, (having to concentrate painfully hard to light a fire on something he isn't touching).
    • Shock and Awe: Rosen can take a lightning strike and generator overload with little adverse effects, can store and release electrical energy with a touch, or more difficultly, without one.
  • Gender-Blender Name: At Arco's coming home party, a lot of his guests note that Rosen's name immediately causes them to assume that he's a woman before meeting him.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: This is Arco's bread and butter.
  • In Vino Veritas: Arco lets slip a lot about how much he can't stand his family's politics and the fruits of his depression when extremely intoxicated.
    • Rosen, however, subverts this trope, mustering more resolve when drunken.
  • Masquerade: The existence of auxiliaries, or people with powers, is only known by special military organization. Even auxiliaries themselves maintain their own masquerades concerning the origins of their abilities.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Rosen has nearly no idea how to "properly" interact with people in Saerkis, or anywhere else but his home island, really. This is in direct contrast with Arcodric's well trained and staged manners, and his ability to manipulate people almost everywhere.
  • Walking the Earth: Having to make it across a continent and a half discreetly takes a lot of "slow travel".
  • Wild Hair: Rosen.
