Magic & Misfits is a collection of Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition Play-by-Post Games hosted via the online messaging app Discord. Started by discord user PotsNPans in late 2019. The server now boasts over 150 members and hosts as many as fifteen quests and several smaller 'strikes' at once.

Magic & Misfits contains examples of:

  • Amazing Technicolor Population: As a D&D server that allows almost all of the published 5e races, you can bet players are allowed to make characters that are just about any color.
  • Bar Brawl: The most public of the role-play channels, The Wild Osprey, is set up like a classic rough and rowdy tavern. Rest assured many a fight has broken out in the middle of the tavern for many a reason.
  • Bishōnen: resident radiant Aasimar Ta'remiel "Sunny" Orthose is a handsome, pretty, rich noble- and he makes it no secret.
  • Death Is Cheap: Sort of. Players are allowed to come back as they please if their character dies... at the cost of all their XP to the next level and a magical item.
  • Heroic Comedic Sociopath: Player-proclaimed 'chaos gnome' Prixi is friends with a few demons, would willing take over Port Brynn if she could, and calls herself the Witch Queen, so she should probably be considered Chaotic Evil... and yet keeps joining parties of do-gooders.
  • Manchild: Koral, as frequently admitted by his player.
  • Socially Awkward Hero: Pot's character, Skex, suddenly gets very jumpy and develops a stutter even in company sometimes even among familiar faces.
  • People Puppets: One of the server's longest lasting characters, Remy, seems to be controlled by a certain "Little Chef" in a very inconspicuous reference.
  • Team Mom: Sidonie, the local cleric of Boldrei, some how manages to reign in and take find care for even the most rowdy adventurers in Port Brynn.
  • This Way to Certain Death: The Crucible, a special fighting arena where Dungeon Masters are specifically told to have no mercy, has the highest mortality rate of any area on the server. Of course people happily queue up anyway.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: While officially the server's central city of Port Brynn is set in the middle of The Forgotten Realms adventurers can see character venturing to nonexistent cities, worshipping Gods that aren't part of the pantheon, and even hopping to place from other campaign settings like Eberron and Exandria.
