Freddie James Prinze (born Frederick Karl Pruetzel, June 22, 1954 - January 29, 1977) was an American stand-up and actor best known for Chico and the Man.
He was partners with Pam Grier and was married to Katherine Cochran, and had one child with Cochran, Freddie Prinze Jr.
Prinze died in 1977 at the age of 22 by taking his own life after suffering from depression and other mental health issues.
