Fred Schepisi (born December 26, 1939) - pronounced "skep-see" - is an Australian director, part of the Australian New Wave that included Gillian Armstrong and Peter Weir. He started out at an agency before moving on to Cinesound, a film production house. Schepisi's follow-up film, The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith earned him acclaim throughout the rest of the world, and like other members of the Australian New Wave, he went on to Hollywood, where he directed films such as Roxanne, Mr. Baseball, and Six Degrees of Separation.
