Tropes used by this author include:

  • Berserk Button: Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. The mere mention of that film, especially in a positive light, will bring out Empire's contempt & anger. What it did to the DCAMU version of Superboy absolutely outraged Empire.
  • Creator's Favorite: Empire is very public with his favorite version of Superboy (Kon-El) being the 90's version and even more specifically the design of him from Reign of the Supermen. To this day Empire is campaigning to see the Reign Kon return to life in a canon capacity - even preferably separated from the DCAMU.
  • Creator's Pest: It is no secret that Empire does not like Justice League Dark: Apokolips War and even has a certain distaste for the movies which spawned after it. However, most of the hatred by far is reserved for the Paradooms, which he considers to be his absolute least favorite DC character ever. The movie even soured Empire's opinion of Darkseid as well, with both villains tending to be severely disrespected in his works.

  • Fan Art: A fan of Empire-of-the-East commission a whole gallery folder of pictures of characters from his stories here.
  • Fanon Discontinuity:
    • Most notably with Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. Empire doesn't consider that film or any of those made after to be canon and prefers to ignore their existence. Empire basically treats Advent Solaris as the true finale of the DCAMU.
    • On a much less angered side, Empire considers Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV (along with Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell) to be in a different universe/timeline than Saints Row and Saints Row 2.
  • Slash Fic: As an openly gay writer, Empire-of-the-East unashamedly will ship male/male couples, often regardless of whether or not they've been depicted canonically as gay before.
  • Take That!: Especially against the Grand Finale film of the DC Animated Movie Universe, as it pushed a few too many buttons with it's treatment of the author's favorite version of Conner Kent.
