Coffin Liqueur (also known as HP_Lovecats) is the pen name of Nigel Valentine, a fanfic author and fanartist whose work can be found on AO3 here. He creates in various fandoms, mainly video games, but is most active in the Resident Evil (specializing in stories centered on the Baker family from Resident Evil 7: Biohazard), Danganronpa, and Monster Prom fandoms. The majority of his written works are one-shots or short stories a few chapters in length, though he does have a few longer works that are currently (as of December 2021) in-progress; and he writes in a range of genres, from silly Crack Fic and friendship fluff to elements of horror and psychological drama.

His works with their own pages are:

Tropes associated with this author's work include:

  • Author Appeal: References to music. Many of the characters he writes about most often are either musicians or implied to be music fans in some way in-canon (bonus points if their genre of choice is heavy metal, punk rock, or glam rock), and it's not uncommon for his stories to feature moments of characters playing instruments, characters listening to or discussing music, or references and gags involving lyrics to well-known songs.
  • Crack Fic: Freely admits in some of his author's notes that sometimes, he writes certain fics just because he wants to make a certain joke or use a particular stray thought. Resultantly, his repertoire includes stories involving such things as Ibuki Mioda deciding to travel through time so she can join ABBA.
  • Funetik Aksent: When writing characters with region-specific American accents, he'll indicate the accents in question by doing such things as dropping Gs and writing out the occasional "ain't'cha", "youse", etc., but has gone on record saying that he dislikes it when accents are written out more heavily than that... unless it's for the sake of a joke, or indicates that a character isn't using their normal accent.
  • Signature Style: His narration generally emulates the speech style of the character whose point of view it’s describing, and he’s also pretty big on detailed sensory imagery and physical sensations associated with characters' emotional responses.
