Bongo Comics was founded in 1993 by Steve and Cindy Vance, Bill Morrison and Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons and Futurama.

Unimpressed with how serious comics were becoming, Matt Groening decided to start his own comic company where comedy was the name of the game and Bongo Comics was born.

Bongo Comics closed down in October 2018, with the 245th issue of Simpsons Comics.
