Finding Gossamyr is a Comic Book written by David A. Rodriguez and illustrated by Sarah Ellerton. It follows a young boy named Denny, who is quirky and socially incapable but an unprecedented mathematical prodigy, and his caretaker older sister, Jenna. When Denny solves the most complex mathematical theorem in history, he and Jenna are transported to Gossamyr, a fantastical world where math is magic and Denny's unique condition gives him incredible power.

In Gossamyr, power is as simple as comprehension. A spell is a theorem and the theorem must be written in the air and proven for it to take hold. Denny's unique gift allows him to solve theorems that would drive anyone else insane, but he doesn't think of the world on those terms. He can only solve problems, not consider the appropriate answer for a situation. Fortunately, the children are befriended by allies who strive to send the stranded siblings home before dark forces can use the boy's power for evil.

Finding Gossamyr provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Action Survivor: It's arguable whether or not Denny is this, considering his incredible latent talents, but it most certainly applies to Jenna.
  • Always Chaotic Evil: So far, the Skaythe appear to be this.
  • Dangerous Forbidden Technique: "The Contradiction." So far, nothing has been revealed about exactly what it is, except that Eloric is capable of using it to great effect in battle, and it causes great harm to him and could potentially cause him to go mad and become "inverse."
  • Deadpan Snarker: Eloric
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": Denny hates being called Drake, or Drake Daniel.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Nobody believes Denny when he says that solving the theorem will result in opening a portal to another dimension. Though it seems like at least Dr. Hamilton knew what would happen all along, and that this was his goal.
  • Parental Abandonment: Jenna and Denny's parents are conspicuously absent from their lives. A phone conversation in Chapter One between Jenna and her mother shows her to be alive but an unfit parent, hence why Jenna is the one taking care of Denny.
  • Promotion to Parent: Jenna is her brother Denny's legal guardian.
  • Shoot the Dog: Azune suggests doing this to a heavily injured Barnabus in order to put him out of his misery so that he can focus on trying to save Eloric, before Jenna steps in and is able to calm Barnabus and treat his injury.
