Dr. Verkhovtsev

The director of the Three Captains' Museum.

The Three Captains

The three famous explorers and fighters. The First Captain's name is Vsevolod, the names of the other two aren't given. Warning: due to these characters' involvement in the main plot, unmarked spoilers ahead.
  • The Ace: They rebuilt their ships to the point they became unique, they defeated the space pirates who outnumbered them ten to one, they were the first ones to survive the jungles of Euridice and kill the big Euridice dragon, and that's just a small part of what they have done.
  • Badass in Distress: Although they are admittedly cool, they can need rescue, too.
    • The Second Captain is missing, presumed dead, while actually he has been held captive in his own ship for four years. It still doesn't stop him from surviving against several armed pirates when he is forced to leave the ship.
    • The Third Captain gets continuously tortured for four years but doesn't say anything, and he survives long enough to receive help.
  • Happily Married: The First Captain with Ella.
  • Humble Hero: They decide the Three Captains' Planet and the museum should get renamed, since they don't feel they are worthy of an entire planet named after them.
  • Multinational Team: The First Captain is from Moscow, the Second Captain is a Mars-born human, and the Third Captain is a six-armed, three-legged Fiksian.
  • Renaissance Man: They are said to be polymaths. It is known that they remade and upgraded their ships to the point they became unique.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: In the later books, they get barely mentioned at best.
  • Worf Had the Flu: The Third Captain is sick after his long journey, which makes it easy for the pirates to capture him.
