    Peter Rabbit
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/peterbirdy_244.png
A mischievous, rebellious young rabbit.

  • Action Survivor: He's able to survive getting trapped in Mr. McGregor's garden twice, though both times it's not without considerable effort and emotional stress.
  • Arch-Enemy: Mr. McGregor killed and ate Peter's father, and Peter wrecked McGregor's garden twice.
  • Best Friends-in-Law: His cousin Benjamin, with whom he is shown to be very close, marries one of Peter's sisters.
  • Blue Is Heroic: He wears blue, and is a major heroic character in several of Potter's stories.
  • Civilized Animal: He wears jackets, shoes, but also lives in a Burrow under a tree.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: Peter in his debut story is a vegetable thief who ignores his mother's warnings, but when she tells him off for losing his blue coat, he reluctantly goes back to Mr. McGregor's garden to get it so he can make things up to her.
  • Kid Hero: In The Tale of Peter Rabbit and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, he is a young Rabbit who is the Protagonist of the stories.
  • Must Make Amends: Why he goes back into McGregor's garden in The Tale of Benjamin Bunny.
  • Nervous Wreck: He is (understandably) very dour and unwilling in The Tale of Benjamin Bunny. Thankfully, he grows out of it.
  • Older and Wiser: In The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies and The Tale of Mr. Tod, Peter has grown up to be a successful cabbage farmer.
  • Took a Level in Badass: He gets to be an actual hero rather than just a survivor when he rescues his nieces & nephews in The Tale of Mr. Tod.

    Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail
Peter Rabbit's sisters.

  • Alpha Bitch: In the '90s animated adaptation, Flopsy seems to be the leader of the three sisters, and tends to lord it over the other two.
  • Baby of the Bunch: Cottontail is the youngest out of the four Rabbit siblings.
  • Civilized Animal: They wear clothes and are well-behaved and polite, but also live in a Burrow under a tree.

    Peter Rabbit's mother

  • Civilized Animal: She wears clothes, dresses her children sharply, goes shopping, but also lives in a Burrow (which has furniture like any other home).

    Peter Rabbit's father
Peter Rabbit's late father who was baked into a pie.

  • Posthumous Character: He was put in a pie by Mrs. McGregor before the start of the story, as mentioned by Mrs. Rabbit.

Humans

    Mr. McGregor
The owner of the garden.

    Mrs. McGregor
Mr. McGregor's wife who baked Peter's father into a pie.

  • The Ghost: She is only ever mentioned or makes cameos until The Tale of the Flopsy Bunnies.
