Kim Sung-yeol

A scholar and a close friend of Crown Prince Jonghyun. Gets turned into a vampire. 120 years later he meets Yang-seon.

Combat Parkour: He's fond of this.
Daywalking Vampire: He can walk around during the day just fine, only experiencing discomfort/burning when sunlight touches his skin directly.
Guyliner: Apparently popular among male vampires, since he and Gwi both wear it.
It's All My Fault: He murmurs this while unconscious and reliving Myung-hee's death.
Mistaken for Gay: His lack of interest in the gisaengs makes them assume he's gay.

Jo Yang-seon

A bookseller who was raised as a boy.

Bookworm: She's very fond of reading — unsurprisingly, considering she's a bookseller.
Please Wake Up: She begs her father's corpse to wake up when she realises he's dead.
Plucky Girl: Despite being chased by loan sharks, nearly eaten by the undead, and under the pressure of supporting her entire family, she's still determined to help Sung-yeol despite the dangers.
Raised as the Opposite Gender: A strange case; she was raised, dressed and acted like a boy because a monk told her family to do so. However, she still thinks of herself as a woman, as do her relatives.
Thinking Out Loud: Does this quite often.

Lee Yoon

Played by: Shim Chang-min

Crown Prince of Joseon.

Masquerading As the Unseen: He pretends to be the Lustful Scholar, the Pen Name of the long-dead Crown Prince Jonghyun.
Royals Who Actually Do Something: Unlike his father, he's actively trying to stop Gwi and free Joseon from his influence.

Gwi

Played by: Lee So-hyuk

The vampire who killed Myung-hee, Jonghyun, and Lee Yoon's father.

Accidental Murder: He doesn't mean to kill Hye Ryung, but when he lashes out at her he cuts her throat.
Antagonist in Mourning: He and Hye-ryung spend years using and manipulating each other. When he accidentally kills Hye-ryung, he mourns her and reflects that he wanted to keep her by his side for thousands of years.
Even Evil Has Standards: He's shocked that Hye-ryung's father will serve his daughter's murderer just to save his own life.
Guyliner: Apparently popular among male vampires, since he and Sung-yeol both wear it.
Pretty Boy: Possibly the prettiest in the entire series.
Red Eyes, Take Warning: His eyes turn red when he's about to kill someone.
Villainous Breakdown: Goes through one after Hye-ryung's death. It includes carrying her corpse back to his lair and telling her he didn't mean to kill her, then murdering most of the court officials.

Choi Hye-ryung

Daughter of the prime minister.
