Characters of Police Quest 3: The Kindred
Lytton Police Department:
Pat Morales
Played by: Patty Lang
A cop working at Lytton PD with attitude problems who soon becomes Sonny's partner.
- Anti-Role Model: She is not to be followed by any policemen playing. She is rude, overly impulsive, pays more attention to instinct than procedure and turns out to take drugs and be part of a cult.
- Does Not Like Men: She holds a disdain for men, as she says at the beginning about being annoyed with a perv and later on she calls Sonny a "male pig" before trying to shoot him.
- Foil: To Sonny Bonds. Sonny is a calm policeman cares about following procedure most of the time, while she is an impatient policewoman and tends to rush into decisions. Sonny's held in high regard by the police force, while her performance tends to receive complaints. With the reveal that she's part of the cult, she could also be considered an Evil Counterpart to him.
- The Millstone: Her demands that Sonny help her frequently ruin whatever he had planned. She may have been doing this intentionally given that she was working with the cult the whole time.
Captain Tate
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Allowed Sonny to stay on to investigate the stabbing attempt on Marie in relations to the other stabbing cases in Lytton.note

Brian Forbes
Played by: Brian Brouillette
A loon hanging around Aspen Falls. He terrifies other people there and it's up to Sonny to stop him.
- Naked Nutter: Has stripped down to his underwear and is ranting and raving about Bathonians, causing a disturbance (that turns violent if he isn't dealt with) for Sonny to deal with.
- Trouser Space: He managed to hide a knife inside his briefs. He will kill the man who puts him in his cell if you don't search him for the weapon.
Orpheus Hanley
Played by: Himself
A speeder who really needs to get to his woman on time.
- Nice Guy: Unlike other traffic violators in the series, he doesn't get angry or otherwise lash out at Sonny for giving him a ticket, he just accepts it and listens to the reasoning for it.
Juan Jose Ruiz
Played by: George Esparza
- Everything Is Racist: In court, he tries to contest his traffic violation by accusing Sonny of racism against Latinos. Thankfully, this isn't taken into account in the judge's ruling, regardless of what it is.
Joseph Hoss
Played by: Bob Fischbach
- Drunk Driver: So drunk that, after being pulled over, he can't keep an eye on your finger and pukes on the street.
- Sorry Ociffer: He tries to play off being drunk and says that he's fine. It falls apart when he can't follow Sonny's finger and pukes on his shoes.
Suspects:
Steve Rocklin
Played by: Mike Pickhinke
- Bad Guys Play Pool: He's initially seen playing pool in the Old Nugget Inn and is a member of the Sons of Darkness cult.
- Beard of Evil: A member of the Sons of Darkness cult who will not hesitate to kill Sonny. His beard is also impressive, almost like Chuck Norris's.
Michael Bains
Played by: N/A
- Big Bad: He is Jesse Bains's successor and starts the Sons of Darkness cult, which provokes Sonny into going after him and eventually doing so.
- From Camouflage to Criminal: Used to be in the US Army. Later became involved in drug running.
- Villains Want Mercy: Once Sonny breaks into his crack house, he gives up immediately when approached.
