  • The sheer detail of OVRHVN is awesome in and of itself - Ryzov goes to great lengths to establish a coherent and interconnected timeline, and the amount of thought put into the politics and culture of the setting really makes it feel like a living world.
  • The events surrounding the invention of the Yashima Procedure are detailed under Heartwarming, but the fact that it worked in the first place makes it awesome. Those scientists successfully created a way for people with terminal illnesses to live on and for people with crippling disabilities to get their lives back.
  • The Red-Blue War causes a whole lot of death and suffering for everybody, but it also produces a lot of genuinely inspiring stories.
    • Raiko Ushijima, a former cancer patient who became a Cyborg as a result of said cancer. Come the war, despite still being relatively young, being small even for her age, and having no military background whatsoever up to that point, she decides to put her augmentations to use by joining the Blue forces - specifically, the soon-to-be-vaunted 7th Cyborg Raiders. She soon discovers that she's a natural warrior, and by the end of the war, she's racked up 1,402 confirmed enemy kills all by herself, earning the nickname "Carnivore." After the war, she becomes a leading figure in Project Marabunta, Mars' Super-Soldier program.
    • Another MarsCom soldier, one Yohane Tanaka, is only mentioned in the RBW political compass meme, but what little we know makes him undeniably awesome: dissatisfied with his standard-issue spear, he MacGyvers together his own railgun, goes AWOL with it, and comes back with 153 prisoners.
    • The MTOS Goliath, a five-mile-long space tanker with a full load of nitrogen, ammonia and water from Ganymede, outright ending the war. Its cargo is so valuable to drought-stricken Mars that the Reds and Blues sign an agreement to evenly distribute its resources, with the stipulation that if the Goliath is attacked, the Green Five join the war on the defending side. As a result, when the Reds are backed into a corner and Levi Brahm disobeys orders to try and capture the ship, the ensuing Battle of the Goliath becomes the Final Battle of the war, deciding the conflict in favor of the Blues.
  • The Australian government has been burying a great deal of nuclear waste in the barren sands of the Outback, and by the 1980s, they've decided they need a way to ensure that the danger present at the site is conveyed even after there's no longer an Australia. So, they put the concepts from the Sandia Report into action, complete with the "atomic priesthood" - in the form of the local Aboriginal clans, who are tasked with using their rich oral tradition to pass down the warnings, a mission they willingly accept. After all, the clans of Warlmanpa have lived in their land for 40,000 years, and through changing times, all kinds of hardships and even Hell Daynote , if they have anything to say about it, they'll be there for 40,000 more.
  • Terraforming, when done successfully, is always awesome, but Ganymede deserves special mention. Ganymede's surface is a sheet of ice on top of a layer of water. So, using giant solar mirrors in orbit as well as subterranean nuclear explosions, the Ganymedeans melt the entire crust of the moon, transforming it into an ocean world.
