Luz Clawthorne

Multiple characters have become Ascended Extras in this series.

Main Series

  • Amity and Lilith, despite already being major characters in canon, become main characters here, appearing at points where they didn't in the show, which is cemented with Amity moving into the Owl House at the end of Book One and Lilith choosing not to leave with Gwendolyn in "Grandmother Knows Best".
  • Willow, Gus, Viney, Jerbo, and Barcus also receive this level of prominence in the events of the fic, with Word of God confirming the same for Boscha, Skara and Hunter in Book 2.
  • The rest of the Blight family, Mattholomule, Bo, Amelia, Cat, Steve, Katya, Raine, the BAT's, Maya, Ghost, and the four Coven Heads who don't speak later follow suit as major supporting characters or antagonists.
  • Glandus High as a whole plays a much more active role in Book Two, becoming a major villainous force. Students like Angmar, Bria, Gavin, and Ukla also have a larger role in the fic because of this. In Gavin's case, he is revealed to be the estranged son of Darius.
  • Beast Keeping magic in general is also expanded upon, not only building up its established Summon Magic and Voluntary Shapeshifting, but incorporating the use of Bond Creatures and having the rule of Duels Decide Everything. Notable Beast Keepers besides Viney, Eberwolf and Gwendolyn include Luz, Skara (after they start multi-tracking), Dusty Bring'ems, Nina Fangs, Prof. Redback and his assistant Jane, Beocrow Clawthorne and Skara's mother Calypso, who steps up as Head Witch of the Beast Keeping Coven after Eberwolf is rendered catatonic.
    • Speaking of Nina, she starts off as an antagonist, but slowly gains enough prominence to actually become a main character by the third quarter of Book 2.
  • Levi Thians, a minor Original Character with only two appearances in Book 1, is given a chance to shine in Book 2 by helping wild witches with his father Goonla, both of them eventually joining the Bards Against the Throne.
  • After being Demoted to Extra, Camila Noceda becomes a major character in Book 2 when she's brought back to life, a stark contrast to her prominence in Season 2.
  • Rather than being Posthumous Characters who had Small Role, Big Impact status, Manny Noceda and Caleb (now William) Wittebane both play supporting roles through flashbacks.
  • Clara, the blonde doppelganger of Amity who was an unnamed extra, and Masha, a minor supporting character with only a few scenes, become prominent characters upon being introduced. Masha's friends are given supporting roles while the human Gus, who is only mentioned by Luz in "I Was a Teenage Abomination", not only physically appears, but also gets a major role.
  • St. Epiderm, the school only mentioned to be where Raine (before transferring to Hexside) and Gilbert Park studied, actually appears in Book 2, being a private school built like a fortress. Viney's cousin, who was also just mentioned, physically appears as well along with many OC students playing a part, with Donna Masterskull also joining the main cast.
  • Following the Glandus War, Emily Tricks continued to play a major role as she serves as the Golden Guard while Hunter is recovering before she starts going through a Heel–Face Revolving Door which gets her a place on the main cast, too.
  • Cross Drakescale was initially a background character but overtime, he became more prominent between his romantic tension with Lindsay Shystream, working alongside Emily as the Golden Guard before they become friends and Lindsay develops feelings for both of them, and being put in the center of Donna and Nina's own relationship issues before getting sucked into Luz's adventures. Because of all this, he's also promoted to the main cast.

Helluva Dad (Spoilers)

  • Regarding the Helluva Boss cast, Loona is far more prominent rather than being an Advertised Extra as she receives more focus and Character Development.
  • Ace, the incubus demon on Verosika's crew, gets fleshed out as a father to a boy named Ryan.
