- The piece of toast Luz brings to life at breakfast performs a Song Parody of David Bowie's "Starman".
- One of Amity's new Embarrassing Nicknames is "Amity Horror."
Chapter 2: Won't Get Away
- Apparently, Hexside's last groundskeeper was fired because a group of young mystery sleuths and their goofy looking Cerberus mascot caught him acting like a ghost gopher to hide his crystal ball thefts.
Chapter 3: I Get a Tutor/Here Comes the Tutor
- Eda asks Bump why he can't hire a ghost hunting team, he note that they went out of business a long time ago.
- When Luz refers to Pinocchio's plot as "a wooden puppet boy who to become a real boy, he must eat the flesh of a real boy", she wonders if she was thinking of a cartoon series or the Disney movie.
- Jerbo calls Luz "your Newman to your Jerry" to describe her as Amity's Sitcom Arch-Nemesis.

Chapter 12: Heart to Heart
- Several characters that come out of books enchanted by the Wailing Star include:
- Spellpool, a parody of Deadpool who immediately realizes what's happening and attempts to talk to the reader.
- Captain Coven, a superhero inspired by "Sora, Warrior of the Sea" from One Piece.
- Sabine the Teenage Hex Girl, a combination of Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Hex Girl Thorn.

- Along with the latter, another Alice In Wonderland reference stems from how the entrance to the pocket dimension is down a rabbit hole, with Luz even saying "it's something out of a 1940s cartoon."
- Word of God confirms Eris is a Composite Character of her incarnations from Sinbad and The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
- Cheese Sandwich appears as a performer in the club and Discord is mentioned. Chaos from Aladdin: The Series also cameos comforting Rumpelstiltskin.
- Loki mentions "the Third Race": in Gargoyles, the Third Race consisted of magical beings from various mythologies, including both gods and tricksters.
- The auhors also stated that Puck and Anu Bist have a weakness to iron despite the former being a Fae and the latter being half-genie, because in the Gargoyles universe, iron was a vulnerability shared by the Third Race.

- During her quest, Eda passes by a camp and asks a guy wearing a hockey mask for directions, a nod to Friday the 13th.
Chapter 18: Reunion
- Soos' conversation with Wendy during their first scene is almost exactly the same as the one between Frog Soos and Curator Ponds in the Amphibia tribute episode, "Wax Museum". "Almost" being that Soos doesn't answer if he has been licking himself again.Frog Soos/Soos: "Say Mr. Ponds/Wendy, do you ever get the feeling that we exist simultaneously in multiple parallel universes completely unaware of the others' very existence?"
Curator Ponds/Wendy: "Have you been licking yourself again, Frog Soos/Soos?" - When Gus meets Wendy, he assumes she runs the fast food chain of the same name.
- Lazy Susan refers to Luz as "She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" at one point.
Chapter 19: Summerween Fright
- Gilbert and Sullivan are named after the Victorian music duo of the same names.
- Dipper, Mabel and Waddles all dress up as Luke, Leia and Han. Robbie also refers to Dipper as "Dork Vader", leading to Wendy correcting him.
- In order to fend off clowns, Gus equips himself with tangelos, stating it messes with clowns' minds.
- The lead clown is named after the Joker, whose origin story is mentioned by Mabel. Some other clowns are named after Ronald McDonald.

Chapter 23: Doctor's Visits and Party Incidents
- Luz practices asking out Amity with Hooty who rejects her. This calls to mind the same scene between Gru having a minion stand in for practice in asking out Lucy in Despicable Me 2.
- The mummy girl is named "Bangles", after the 80's band.
- Brian is based off of Riff-Raff from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
- Paul McCarthy's "Live and Let Die" is heard over the fight sequence.
Chapter 24: Human Date
- Odalia sings her own variation of "Mother Knows Best" from Tangled early on.
- Luz claims that the inhibitor bracelet Vanz Ator gives her is something out of Hot Topic.

- After Amity makes a hole in one out of anger, a surprised Luz quips that Happy Gilmore was right for relying on it.
- The chapter has a Song Parody of "A Whole New World" with Luz as Aladdin, Amity as Jasmine and Owlbert providing the role of the Magic Carpet.

- The gag of a student/fan announcing the Grudgby game while trying to find his seat and getting chased out of the booth by the actual announcer happened in the Spongebob Squarepants episode, "The Great Snail Race".
- One of the fae Puck mentions is Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.
Chapter 35: To Serve
- Before going to collect spices, King tells Amity that the spice demons who control the spice also control the isles and are very protective of their goods, similar to Dune.
- When Luz brings her muffin to life, it says "Happy Birthday!"
- One of the weapons an Anu Bist duplicate wields against Puck is a large butterfly net. Since fae and fairies are the same, Bist figures it's worth a shot.
- One of the books Boscha finds is "The Playbook for Azura Horror Picture Show".
- One of Nicole's plans to get revenge on the Clawthornes is to turn Luz into a bug with a potion, put her in a box, then another box, then ship her around the Isles for days until she arrives on their doorstep and smash her a lá Yzma.
Chapter 36: Everything's Gone Wrong
- Lilith saying that everything she did was for her family mirrors Stan's own speech in the Gravity Falls episode, "Not What He Seems". Unlike Mabel with Stan, Eda doesn't give her a chance.
Chapter 37: The Forest of Fear
- Luz labels Hunter (currently in uniform) as the "Gold Ranger".
Chapter 38: The Reveal
- The conversation between Vanz Ator and Anu Bist regarding freeing the jackal is just like the one between Aladdin and Genie. It also ends with Anu Bist being freed from his lamp just like Genie was.
Chapter 39: Understanding Lilith
- After getting lost during the field trip, Lilith says " Oh, poison apples!"
- Odalia's Affectionate Nickname for Lilith was "Lilipup", one letter off from the Pokémon of the same name.

Chapter 40: The Rescue
- The illusions scene is based off the one between Spidey and Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Puck being framed as a villain also references the post-credits scene.

Luz Clawthorne: Krampmus Shenanigans
- The scene at the bazaar and the following conversation is based off what happened in the Christmas special, "Billy and Mandy Save Christmas".
- Some of King's stolen presents include a chewed up Mr. Potato Head (which acts as a nod to Toy Story), a set of BABBA stuffed dolls and a pair of Nike sneakers.
- The montage is played to "Merry Christmas" by The Ramones.
- The way Santa wipes the Richingtons' memories is the same method as in Men in Black, right down to the glasses.
Luz Clawthorne: Somhaim Tales of the Boiling Isles
- The ghosts at the bar that Hooty bugs are Scratch, Chi-Fu and Shan Yu. Scratch also mentions Molly, with Hooty correctly guessing Scratch is her best friend.
- The ending shows King declaring Somhaim is about pure evil and laughing just like Stan instigated in Gravity Falls's own Halloween Episode, "Summerween".
Book 2: Two Worlds, One Family
- The trailer for the book is shown off by a witch counterpart of Rick Sanchez, which (no pun intended) isn't surprising given his current line of work. He proceeds to lampshade the author's love of Phil Collins due to the book's subtitle as "Land of Confusion" starts playing. When it ends, Witch Morty makes a vocal cameo questioning stuff only to get rebuffed by Witch Rick who also makes a Take That! at a certain ninja boy solving everyone's problems in arcs or Tom Holland movies.

Chapter 41: Recovering
- The end of the chapter is based on the What If? episode, "What If... Ultron Won?" where Ultron became powerful enough to notice the Watcher.
Chapter 42: Family Group Therapy
- Luz has Batgirl comics and declares Cassandra Cain the best of them. She also mentions Killer Croc.
- Dr. Frakes and Terri's debuts have now linked the series to an A.U. of Amphibia.
Chapter 43: Unemployment Filing
- How many Disney characters debut in this chapter? Let's see:
- First, there's Captain Hook, accompanied by Smee with a new crew of pirates aboard the Jolly Roger II (referencing how the original ship was destroyed in Return To Never Land) with Tinker Bell, the Lost Boys and Neverland being mentioned.
- Then Hades, Pain and Panic (the baddies of Hercules) appear before Luz with Pain and Panic using the same little boy forms they used on Herc in the movie.
- And finally, the Coachman from Pinocchio appears at the end of the chapter putting up posters for Pleasure Island.
- At one point Luz calls Spot "Cujo", the same name as the Stephen King book and its titular character.
Chapter 44: Blindsided

Chapter 45: Stranger Danger
- The song this week is The Runaways' "Cherry Bomb".
- During the Distant Prologue, the Coachman references the Enchantress from Beauty and the Beast.
- The Baron makes several references to his current body's previous life as Dr. Facilier in this chapter:
- When he first proposes the Coachman moving his current operations to the Boiling Islands in the Distant Prologue, he mentions the Coachman being "willing to cut a deal."
- The fortune telling ceremony he does with Luz and Amity on Pleasure Island has elements of the scene with Naveen and Lawrence, right down to him using the same lines from his Villain Song.
- Before the Coachman is Dragged Off to Hell, the Baron makes another reference to Facilier's Villain Song, saying that he's "brought some old Friends of (the Coachman's)note to help (him) on (his) one-way trip to the Other Side."
- Hexes Hold'Em is treated like Duel Monsters, with a kid claiming the cards in the game could end the world and one participant in the tournament being dressed in Egyptian-style clothing.

- The ending shows Jack being found by a kid named Adrian and singing "Never Had a Friend Like Me" to explain who he is. It's obvious Genie made that mandatory.
Chapter 54: Socket to Me
- The Song Parody, "Oh Belos", is based on "Gaston" from Beauty and the Beast and "Rattigan" from The Great Mouse Detective.
- Shawm "Sham" Eaglesnitch is a parody of Muppet's Sam the Eagle, including his famous line "You are all weirdos."
- Jason's nickname for Bo is "Little Bo Peep".
Chapter 55: Deserve Nothing
- JP states that Simon getting Flint (a demon squirrel) as his palisman is one to Kronk and Bucky the squirrel's friendship in The Emperor's New Groove.
- Lilith's palisman is named Edgar, a tribute to American writer Edgar Allan Poe and his narrative poem, "The Raven".
- Athena's great-great-grandfather is named Ben who apparently had a palisman named Bill. Bill and Ben, get it?
- Amity utilizes a suit of abomination goo said to be symbiote-like and swings around with webs. And since she admits she got the idea for it from one of Luz's comics, it's safe to assume it was Venom.
Chapter 56: Going Through Changes
- Iago's appearance officially cements Aladdin into the series' storyline, with Iago referring to Genie as "the Blue Wonder", which is what he called him in Aladdin: The Series.
- McScream and Cooker are based off of Chris McLean and Chef Hatchet, the hosts from the Total Drama franchise. McScream's way of kicking weak students out of Glandus is to fire them out of the Cannon of Shame, the elimination method used in Pahkitew Island.
- Ms. Heinous, another character from Star vs. the Forces of Evil, is introduced.
- The phrase "It's called a hustle, sweetheart" is used again when a main character extorts someone. In addition, Wesselton is based off the Duke of Weselton and him specializing in plants references Duke Weaselton smuggling night howlers in Zootopia.
- Luz asks a winged monkey how he got to the Boiling Isles. He mentions that a twister brought him here, but he doesn't recommend it since in his experience witches and twisters don't mix well.
- Ghost being one of the Bat Queen's refugee palisman and Lilith's knowledge of Belos relying on palisman essence feels like it's already happened before...
- Witch Rick Sanchez makes his physical debut with his relation to Summer Smith being noted.
- The end of the chapter introduces Sprig Plantar of Amphibia, along with Anne Boonchuy and as the next chapter reveals, Marcy Wu.
Chapter 57: No Big Deal
- Song Parodies include "What's This?" from The Nightmare Before Christmas, "Wayward Son" by Kansas, and Journey's "Don't Stop Believing".
- Marcy mentions that Maddie has a magic teacher who reminds her of Eda. This was confirmed to be a nod to Uodeela the Salamander, Eda's Amphibian counterpart in The Owl and The Frog (although she's said to be a newt here.)
- It's been confirmed that Marcy's basically an honorary Disney Princess in this universe.
- Mabel's sweater is depicted as red with black spider web patterns, like Spider-Man.
- Old Man McGucket states that his face would give kids who read Azura more nightmares than anything R. L. Stine's written.
- Sprig notes that Loggle believes there's a god that's an axolotl, a reference to the otherworldly being mentioned by Bill in Gravity Falls.
- Luz has a game called Merlock Kart, based off of the Mario Kart series and named after Merlock the Sorcerer, the Big Bad of DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp.
- Steve mentions visiting a Steve convention once, referencing the one that takes place in the Phineas and Ferb episode, "The Lizard Whisperer".
- The Northwest family's butler is named after his voice actor, Matt Chapman.
- Mabel tries to rename herself to "Star", saying it sounds like the name of a princess or a galactic warrior. She also labels Luz as "Meteora".
Chapter 58: The Ballad of Eda (Part 1)
- One of the ghosts unleashed by the ghost ball is rather friendly and asks Kikimora to be his friend.
- The Noodle Incident regarding the cocktail waitress is based off this scene of Bewitched, which Word of God says fits because Geist is based off of Uncle Arthur.
- Eda's vampire ex is a tall woman with a wide-brimmed hat, like Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village.
- There's a BATT with a name that's Spanish for a number who harbors a hatred towards Lilith since she was the leader of the Emperor's Coven and one of Luz's friends' dads joins the BATT's to protect his child. Sounds like something out of another OH fic where Eda is Luz's mother... of course, it's been confirmed to be a Contrived Coincidence.
Chapter 59: The Ballad of Eda (Part 2)
- The movie that Eda and Angel watch together at the beginning of the chapter is John Carpenter's The Thing (1982).
- Emily's palisman is a flying monkey, which were previously confirmed to exist.
- Like the last part, it contains a few nods to A Blight on Bonesborough: the BAT with the Spanish number name turns out to be a basilisk who escaped the program, its hatred towards Lilith is because she headed the revival of its species. Donna also botches up MJ's iconic line, coming from her debut in Amazing Spider-Man #42 (Vol 1) which was used as a Mythology Gag in the episode's ending.
- Meg's conversation with Le'Belle, Venoma, and Alburno alludes to the bad blood Gwen has with Courtney, Heather, and Alejandro. - As a child, Star gets rejected from playing with other kids the same way Hercules had been.
- Drayden compares Donna to a doe demon woman he once knew named "Jane Doe". It's also a nod to The Autopsy of Jane Doe, which was about a witch.
- Donna's real name is revealed to be Karona, while her brother was named Andros. To further the reference, her birth mother is revealed to have been named Astronema, which was the name Dark Specter and Darkonda gave Karone when they kidnapped her as a child.
- Draco's face getting melted by his own acid is like how Keldor's face got melted in the He-Man 2002 series.

- The Supreme Daimyo is an expy of the Daimyo from the 2003 series.

- Two of the mutants the Alchemist created are a rhinoceros and a warthog, clear nods to Rocksteady and Bebop.
- The Supreme Daimyo mentions inviting the witchlings back to the Yokai Realm for a tournament in the future. This brings to mind the Battle Nexus.
