A fair amount of the hate toward Yoshiki is actually either misaimed or over things he can't do anything about, and a fair amount of it is haters simply jumping on the bandwagon of who's popular to hate.

It's almost a draw between the two, though with some of Yoshiki's statements in TheNewTens it's obvious that he and hide had some sort of actual connection or feelings, whether they were actually acted on offstage or not.

** His... shall we say, ''blase'' attitude toward alcohol abuse has raised some concern. While [[ValuesDissonance most Japanese wouldn't see it as unusual or troubling]], to Westerners, he often comes off as an alcoholic or at least someone who drinks way too much and is way too concerned with drinking, even having somewhat curbed his worst excesses such as DUI and bar fights.
** He's occasionally said some borderline-sexist things regarding women (including comparing them to his car in the 2004 Bull Run video) and his early lyrics have gone right from sexism into misogyny. That said, he doesn't seem to consistently demonstrate hatred for women and appeared to become more respectful over time, so it was most likely a case of male privilege without anyone around to check it + SmallReferencePools in reference to women (e.g. if you tend to meet a lot of stereotypical people, it makes your view of said people more likely to be stereotypical) as opposed to outright hatred or sexist misogyny.
** That he has chosen to tour Russia despite institutionalized homophobia and without personally speaking out about it has led some people to become very angry or disappointed.

** Don't know about ''Saw'', but ''Repo!'' was never meant to be Oscar bait (it was very much a culty low-budget pet project, and the CriticalDissonance around it has to be seen to be believed), and the Razzie was a bit unfair (Given to Paris Hilton seemingly just for being Paris Hilton, because her performance was perfectly fine). And it definitely wasn't a bad film- just a very creative and unusual one that won't be to everyone's taste. And nobody in North America seems to be able to pronounce anything Japanese without making a pigs ear of it, although yeah, how the Repo! team managed to carry on doing it for six months without realising is anyone's guess.
