* CharacterPerceptionEvolution: Vlinny started life in 2014 as a joke Mii in ''WebVideo/VinesauceTomodachiLife'' that duplicated Vinny's Mii but included a V-shaped mouth as a nod to the UsefulNotes/Nintendo3DS' notoriously imperfect photo-to-Mii feature. The character quickly became an EnsembleDarkhorse in spite of his intentionally forgettable design; however, Vlinny's following also attracted people who started using him as a proxy for Vinny in fan content, usually for {{shipping}} purposes, with some going so far as [[UsefulNotes/{{Otherkin}} kinning]] him. This led to vocal CreatorBacklash from Vinny that led to him tightening the rules on the [[ImageBooru Vinebooru]]. Vlinny consequently remains a huge BaseBreakingCharacter among Vinesauce fans to this day, with most people choosing to ignore the character's existence to prevent the risk of flame wars.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Vlinny, big time. He began as a minor character on Vinny's FanficFuel-rich ''WebVideo/VinesauceTomodachiLife'' series before becoming a huge EnsembleDarkhorse, in part because of being a quirky AmbiguouslyEvil [[CloneDegeneration Vinny clone]] with surprising ties to the series' grander MythArc. To this day Vlinny still remains ''astoundingly'' popular and regularly receives fanart and headcanons despite not appearing in Vinny's content for over half a decade. However, due to CharacterPerceptionEvolution he has become just as loathed by the other half of the fanbase because of the ''other'' reason for his popularity: his fans are largely made up of Vinny's EstrogenBrigade, particularly the kind who are actively into {{Shipping}} fanfiction and treat him as a Vinny stand-in for SlashFic and PerverseSexualLust purposes or who outright [[RealPersonFic ship him with Vinny]], which has led to issues with booru flooding and made Vinny uncomfortable enough to disavow the character entirely.

** Thanks to Vinny's story of a friend misreading Ganondorf's name whilst playing ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosMelee'', [[Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda Ganondorf]] is exclusively known as "Crenando" by the Vinesauce fanbase.
** Vinny has a slew of these in the form of mangling his own name, each more ridiculous than the last. The most common ones are "Binny" and "Binyot." The sheer amount of nicknames Vinny got was eventually encapsulated by [[https://youtu.be/AVBHq0W7Q_U?t=2189 a mod]] for ''VideoGame/HalfLifeAlyx'' that Vinny played for Valentine's Day 2021, which was set in an arcade where ''every cabinet'' was named after a different nickname of his.
** Joel similarly has a bunch of nicknames taken from bastardizations of his first name, such as "Jobel" (often expanded to "Uncle Jobel"), "Jontles", "Joblets", "Jorgel", and, in light of his full name being "'''Jo'''el" "'''Jo'''hannson", [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure "JoJo".]]
** The name of Vinny's "RP Guy" character often has "RP" written as "Arr(gh) Pee" by fans due to the guttural pronunciation Vinny uses for the letter R when using that voice.
** The new manager of the Fullsauce channel is often referred to as "John Fullsauce" by fans, due to their actual name not being mentioned. In a case of AscendedFanon, he ultimately adopted this as his actual online handle.
** The [[HumanoidAbomination "Sims"]] Joel creates that are based on existing characters are called [[Franchise/{{Nasuverse}} [Character] Alter]] and a CaptainErsatz of a character in Vinny's Android Trash streams, such as that very NotSafeForWork version of Tron Bonne, is called a "Distorted/[[VideoGame/DragaliaLost Void]] [Character]."

** One of the levels from Vinny's 2015 ''VideoGame/SuperMarioBrosX'' contest was based on the WebVideo/VinesauceTomodachiLife streams and featured Sponge being DrivenToSuicide after Music/DavidBowie (his best friend in those streams) is killed. ** Joel playing and mocking the unreleased ''UsefulNotes/MuhammadAli Boxing'' during SNES Madness Part 2 now comes off as this, given that the stream occurred a mere four days before Ali passed away.

This is [[DiscussedTrope discussed]] during his Windows 8 Destruction stream, in which he explains the reason he doesn't like [=BonziBUDDY=]: the reason he found it so humorous at first was not the character itself, but the fact that it was malware trying to masquerade as a kid-friendly cartoon and he feels that by making it a meme, it lost this original point. Vinny came to despise the character around the same time; he was added to the WebVideo/VinesauceTomodachiLife streams when he was still considered funny and deleted around the same time Joel got tired of him.

* OvershadowedByControversy: Pretty much everything good that happened for Vinesauce in 2015[[note]]Including every streamer becoming a Twitch partner, Southbird being discovered by Vinny and later made an official stream editor, and the very successful charity stream[[/note]] was completely overtaken by Joel's channel being hijacked in November. Considering how much panic and exaggeration there was on TV Tropes and other Vinesauce sources during the time, you'd be surprised to known that it lasted for slightly over a week and didn't have too much at stake (for one, the hijacker was a lot less threatening than originally thought to be; for example, Joel's full stream channel was completely unaffected).

A crosspost of the Jon point in Friendly Fandoms was removed from his YMMV page as per a cleanup thread; while I didn't mean it as a knock against Jon (I assumed at the time that mentioning his change in style was enough to imply that he was still drawing in new, but different audiences), looking back I can see how it sounded hostile towards him. Consequently, I'm removing it to adhere to the consensus from that thread and as part of a wider attempt to clean up past messes of mine from this site.

** At one point, a good number of Vinny and Joel's fans also happened to be fans of LetsPlay/ProtonJon, due to Jon's tastes and commentary style (particularly during his own streams) being remarkably similar to Vinny's and especially Joel's and due to Jon admitting to liking their work. The overlap was always more visible on Jon's own Twitch channel though, but it wasn't too uncommon to find a regular from Jon's chat in Vinny's or Joel's. Since the end of the 2010's, however, this overlap has shrunk by a considerable amount due to a combination of Jon's streaming style changing heavily and longtime members of Jon's community jumping ship in favor of Vinny and Joel's communities.

** Averted with Vinny's opinion of the "Cube" video that autopilot displayed back when it was a standard feature of the stream, which he brought up in 2016 during a stream of ''VideoGame/KirbyPlanetRobobot'' because that game's cube-shaped collectables reminded him of it. Despite his admission that he resurrected an old meme, his dislike of memes in general, and an abundance of cube-related messages in the chat following the video being shown onscreen, he was content with the fact that he made that particular piece of Vinesauce history relevant again.
** Zigzagged with the infamous ''7 Grand Dad'' meme. Sometimes Joel will change his mind from time to time to see whether or not it's funny, but he has gone on record that he still finds it finds it funny in its original context. He will occasionally reference it in streams, especially with anything ''Flintstones''-related, for the chat to only explode with references to the meme. He'll also occasionally express his distaste for the meme by editing his Spooky Saturday intro by changing how the intro's Joel reacts to Grand Dad, like with a "[[BigShutUp SHUT THE FUCK UP!!]]" or "[[NoJustNoReaction No.... No.]]" Vinny's reaction to it ranges from indifference to annoyance, seeing as there was a stretch of time when people just tried putting Grand Dad in corruption compilations to see how he'd react.

transition in late 2014 from a single shared channel to each team member having their own triggered accusations of fracturing the community. That said, this opinion faded fairly quickly, with positive effects like lesser-known streamers becoming more famous (all of the active streamers managed to become Twitch partners in 2015) and chats generally being more organized outweighing the negatives.

** A number of newer viewers tend to believe that V-Dub was created to parody the guy who hijacked Joel's channel in November 2015, if only because V-Dub's appearances typically revolve around a fictitious HostileShowTakeover and the timing of V-Dub's appearance in 2015 was just after the incident was resolved. However, the character stretches back to 2012, long before the channel fiasco occurred, and the motive behind V-Dub's creation was always just to parody SmallNameBigEgo dudebro gamers (as the character debuted during the peak of ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty''[='s=] popularity and the duebro attitudes its playerbase is often associated with).

* FandomEnragingMisconception: Never act like Vinny and Joel are the only streamers on Vinesauce. This problem is lessening as time goes on, with site growth leading to most of the other streamers becoming as least recognized, but it still happens often enough that Vinny and Joel themselves sometimes end up calling people out for this. Confusing Vinny and Joel for each other, despite the two sounding nothing alike, is also prone to annoying viewers.
