Material-S from [[VideoGame.TheBattleOfAces The Battle of Aces]] PSP game receives an interesting [[CharacterDevelopment development]] in the [[VideoGame.TheGearsOfDestiny The Gears of Destiny]] sequel game where she ends up being a character with the following traits:

She really meant it when she said she wanted Rune to become her permanent partner, she keeps visiting her in prison in ''SSX'', and she hasn't taken another aide in either ''Vivid'' or ''Force''. Runessa is essentially Teana's personal DarkMagicalGirl, and we know [[DefeatEqualsFrienship what happens to DMGs]] in this franchise.

** They were left in a room together, at the beginning of A's. They came to a remarkable concurrence of opinion, IfYouKnowWhatIMean.

In the original timeline, Hayate and her ''three'' knights were sealed in the Durandal Time Lock, which resulted in Nanoha rebelling against the TSAB and losing her magical staff. She took up swordcraft from her father but, in the battle against the TSAB, got sent back to ancient Velka and was absorbed into the Book of Darkness. When she helped the Knights as Signum, the timeline changed; Hayate's political power changed the TSAB into the PinkBishoujoGhetto. Nanoha/Signum rests easily, immune to paradox, and lets the new Nanoha be none the wiser.

** This could be another explanation to the breaking of the cast up at the end of ''[=StrikerS=]'', adoption is great, but the PinkBishoujoGhetto isn't making as many children. Maybe exposure to other (male) comrades will bear fruit. Notice how Erio and Caro stay together -- the [=TSAB=] figures nature will take its course.

She somehow learned that Ixpellia and a clone of Sankt Kaiser Olivie are on Mid-Childa (which is supposed to be a state secret) and pals with Nove Nakajima (which is really none of an elementary schoolgirl's business). On the other hand, she does not know that Ixpellia is kept at Saint Church HQ or that the Sankt Kaiser clone is her own kohai. She also apparently does not know the details of Ixpellia's current state, clearly expressing the wish to fight her. The final picture is of someone who has a number of presumably classified information pieces but with large gaps -- in other words, it appears as if someone were ''feeding'' her limited information, trying to make her do their dirty work of locating Vivio and Ixpellia for them. Seeing how ''[=ViVid=]'' parallels TheOriginalSeries in many aspects, I'd suppose that there is a Precia-type BigBad still lurking somewhere in the shadows.

In the Sound Stage; we have Subaru telling Ixpellia that Vivio ''is'' the Saint Kaiser reborn; also in ''[[Manga/ViVid]]'' Nove refers to Vivio as an Ancient King who can live in peace in this age. However, Ingvalt herself denies that Vivio is the Saint King; nor is she "an extention of the Emperor, merely the inheritor of his memories." Vivio's friends stumble when describing Vivio's relationship with the Saint Kaiser; compromising by calling her an "ancestor."

* This really belongs under PoisonOakEpilepticTrees. GrimDark Nanoha = [[BrainBleach DO]] [[CanonDefilement NOT]] [[NoJustNo WANT]].

* ''StrikerS'' implies that Lost Logia include artifacts from ''any'' ancient civilisation. ("It was considered a Lost Logia even in the time of ancient Velka".)

* I suspect Yuuno learned some magic in order to protect himself from natural dangers while on expeditions with the expectation that he would need armed escorts for anything more dangerous than the Jewel Seed monsters. He primarily got barrier, teleportation and healing skills so he could protect himself and support his allies from afar. Since much of the cast has strong barriers, Shamal not only has healing abilities but also sensors and capture magic, and Yuuno hasn't had any expeditions that we know of, he's decided to stay out of combat, since he doesn't think he can contribute enough (presumably similar to how Arf stopped fighting in StrikerS, and switched to a loli form to save mana).

The reason this will be done in-story is so Nanoha can continue fighting at optimum levels even as her Magical Power continues to ebb away from DeadlyUpgrade overuse (according to the [[AllThereInTheManual fourth StrikerS Sound Stage]], her actions in the Cradle caused a near permanent drop in her PowerLevel by 10%. She could fix this problem by resting for a year or two, but [[{{Workaholic}} this is Nanoha we're talking about]]), and naturally, everyone would get their own once Nanoha's SuperPrototype run proves successful. The out-of-story and true actual reason why this will be done is so the ''Nanoha'' series could be eligible enough to join the ranks of ''SuperRobotWars''. Considering [[AuthorAppeal the people behind Nanoha]], such a development is inevitable.

* Some of the main cast are just as likely of a target. I mean, a main character for four consecutive seasons that's also reaching the [[CompetenceZone magical age of 25 and up]] [[ObsoleteMentor with new cast all around]], things may start looking [[MentorOccupationalHazard pretty]] [[ObiWan grim]] [[HeroicSacrifice for them]]. Unless, of course, the [[OlderAndWiser general trend]] from ''StrikerS'' continues as they were, then all of the new cast introduced that season are prime targets for StuffedIntoTheFridge

* Makes sense. It's already stated that she's on vacation in order to recover from the events of ''StrikerS''; and her previous behavior has shown she tends to overextend herself when told to take it easy.

* In Part 20 of ''StrikerS Sound Stage 4'', Shamal suggests that Nanoha take a year or two off of magic, which might be part of the reason why she's on leave and working as a civil servant in ''Manga/ViVid''.

In the second episode of the original series, Yuuno Scrya points out that his given name is first, after Takamachi Nanoha introduces herself with her family name first. Fate introduces herself with her given name first without mentioning this, most likely causing Signum to believe that it was. Fate most likely didn't know that Signum was making that assumption, and didn't bother to correct it. Interestingly enough, Shamal twice refers to Fate as "Testarossa-chan" ("-chan" being an honorific typically not used on last names), while referring to Nanoha (who introduced herself to Vita with her family name first) as "Nanoha-chan". While Shamal switches to "Fate-chan" in StrikerS, Signum does not change; presumably because calling her "Testarossa" stuck due to their fighting one-on-one on several occasions.

According to the A's manga, she [[VillainsOutShopping spends much of her time]] playing with senior citizens in the club. In StrikerS, she notes how old the three legendary admirals are, but after Fate and Nanoha point out how important they are, says that she likes them anyway. It's also revealed that one of the admirals took a liking to Vita.

The Ground Forces, as seen in StrikerS, seem to be somewhere between glorified police and actual soldiers. The Belkan Saint Church's fighters give a better accounting of themselves. The Church might therefore be the real, war-minded Army; the Ground Forces are dedicated peacekeeping and garrison troops.

While the TSAB had the parts, the technology doesn't seem to have been in vogue for field agents like Chrono; Raising Heart didn't have it when Yuuno picked it up; Precia and/or Fate didn't build it into Bardiche. Considering the obvious power boost and its usefulness, as well as its apparent ubiquity for anyone not of the RedshirtArmy in Striker S, it seems criminally stupid none of the Devices included it originally. It must have been unusable somehow. Scans of the Wolkenritter's Devices must have been instrumental in developing Raising Heart Excellion and Bardiche Assault, and in turn those two Devices and Graf Eisen/Levantine repopularized the technology.

Vita didn't change at all between A's and [=StrikerS=]. Neither did any of the others. Though they no longer heal the same way they used to, instead healing like natural humans, they do not age. In effect they are biologically immortal. With careful medical care or Klarer Wind the Wolkenritter might live, unchanged, forever.

* In StrikerS, Vita and Shamal discuss how their connection to the book seems to be slowly fading. Presumably given enough time, they'll start to age too.

And in extension, the Belkan Empire should actually be Anglicized as the Balkin Empire. If you think about it, it fits. The shot we always have of the Saint Church is in a highly forested and mountainous area, that is quickly open to a sea. Some of the tactical screens that we see in StrikerS seem to be shots of the Aegean sea. Also, the de-facto alphabet of the TSAB seems to be the Hellenistic alphabet. I'm not well versed on the supplementary material, but it seems to me like, in that case, the Saint Church could be what the Greek Orthodox Church became after wide-scale revelations of magic became known, and in the chaos, it spread to the Holy Roman Empire (Aka, Germany), which is why all of their devices speak German. There are holes (such as how the Midchildan devices picked up English), but I'm sure I could find ways to patch it with more information.

** Notice that Teana has considerably less "tsun" in her {{Tsundere}} personality in Sound Stage X, only getting mildly annoyed at TheGlomp, which could be a sign that she's continuing to warm up to Subaru, possibly romantically. Then again, she seems to be in Subaru's apartment for the first time in StrikerS, although she hasn't seen her in person for a year and a half.

* Well, something like this happened already after the end of the Saint King Reunification War: the Belkans used the so-called "mass-based weaponry" extensively, destroying their own homeworld and polluting the rest, so TSAB's first action was to forbid all advance mass-based technology in favor of pure energy-based ones. The energy-based technology is what we know as regular MagiTek in the series. The idea of an EternalRecurrence is very nice, though, since we know that energy-based magic also involves considerable dangers, such as warping of the time-space, which destroyed the Garden of Time and which was presumably prevented in ''StrikerS'' by putting limiters on Riot Force 6. Maybe, the previous incarnation of an energy-based magical society was Al-Hazard?

** The Einhart arc seems to be something of a prologue to the main story of ''Manga/ViVid'', so it's possible that, like what happened with [[spoiler:Ginga and Vivio]] in StrikerS, Einhart will somehow be controlled by the villains and Vivio will have to defeat her while fighting for her life.

** More or less confirmed ever since [[AudioAdaptation the third Sound Stage]] of ''[=StrikerS=]''. The Fansubbers made a slight mistake: Agito didn't call herself the "Genius of the Burning Flames" when she first appeared, she called herself the "[[FlamingSword Sword Spirit of the Burning Flames]]". It's not a moniker she fashioned for herself either, it's the name she's referred to by the scientists who were experimenting on her, making it the closest thing she has to a true name ("Agito" was given to her by Lutecia). She even mentioned that, based on that name, her original owner is most likely a powerful sword-wielder who can use fire. Finally, she mentions that "strangely, (her) heart feels warm" whenever she thinks of her original owner, which is the exact words Signum said when they finally performed a Unison ([[IronicEcho and probably the reason why she started crying]]). Of course, this opens up more questions: Is Signum really Agito's master (which makes one boggle at just how powerful the first Reinforce must be to create a program that could form her own Unison Device), or, as a lot of people are thinking, is the Signum we know a perfect copy of an earlier human Signum who was the true master of Agito? Hopefully, [=ViVid=], Force or another installment will reveal more about this.

Masaki Tsuzuki wanted to go DarkerAndEdgier after ''[=StrikerS=]'' all along, but he wasn't sure how it'll be received, so he and Himura Kiseki published the first chapter as a doujin with Himura taking all credit. Either because the [[UnpleasableFanbase fandom wasn't completely happy]] or due to ExecutiveMeddling, the concept was put on the shelf, that's why "episode 2 is NOT coming soon". Instead, Tsuzuki went for a DarkerAndEdgier, only less so, route with ''Force'', simultaneously buying off fans with the cutesy loli moe ''[=ViVid=]''. Once those are done, though, he and Himura may still return to ''[=BetrayerS=]'' storyline.

** Lio, a civilian student at the Sankt Hilde school, has an apparently Belkan-style device in ViVid. Then again, we don't know much about her family.

* Alternatively, Ix just over-estimated her sleep time. Considering how her comatose form has appeared in ''[=ViVid=]'', this seems likely.

[[WMG: During Vivid, Nanoha has a limiter on her magic]]

Regardless of her and Nanoha saying it's perfectly fine in ''ViVid'', it doesn't look like she has any involvement in ''Force''. Keep in mind that shapeshifting in the Nanoha-verse is considered very costly, {{mana}}-wise, yet Vivio was able to do it effortlessly.
* It's also possible that she won't have any involvement in Force because 1)She's still in school; even if she's most likely going to be drawn into the problems in ViVid, Nanoha probably wants her to complete her education before joining the TSAB, and/or 2)The writers don't want to write anything that could contradict or spoil events in ViVid (excluding Vivio surviving).

The [=TSAB=] allowed her to retire without complaint or official record to hide their own complicity in the events and because they had an "alternative" solution to their crime problems. Even the loss of a powerful intelligent device into a mysterious rift was acceptable due to recent breakthroughs in their other projects. The [[ClingyMacGuffin device]] was eventually returned to the family.
* That device wouldn't happen to be raising/raging heart, would it?
** Well, it could be that, or some kind of frightning midseason upgrade when combined with Rising Heart. one particular fan art with a Rising Heart armed with three clips of Catridges and grown the the size of a small motor cycle comes to mind... There is also nothing to state that a mage is limited to one intelligent device after all. (the mental image of Vivio armed with Rising Heart and Bardiche in Kiser form chills me to the marrow.)

Ties into the above. After working with, and falling for, a local ninja bodyguard on a difficult assingment that left the local badly injured and cost her a powerful Intelligent Device, she decided to [[RetiredBadass retire]]. The [=TSAB=] allowed her to retire without complaint or official record to hide their own complicity in the events and because they had an "alternative" solution to their crime problems. Even the loss of a powerful intelligent device into a mysterious rift was acceptable due to recent breakthroughs in their other projects. The [[ClingyMacGuffin device]] was eventually returned to the family.

HalfHumanHybrid; Yuuno's ancestors were humans who got really close to their familiars (In humanoid form). Not really an issue in present day; his people are simply able to transform more easily than others. However it is a problem when one is low on {{mana}} in a world away from civilization like Earth. Ironically full-blood familiars have more control in shapeshifting have less issues; since they can fall back on their contract.

Selvaria Bles of Valkyria Chronicles. First off, they look suspiciously similar with white hair, skin tight black uniforms, with a size or two too large breasts. Secondly, they both play similar roles in their plots. Both are extremely powerful beings, both have a connection to a long lost super race (Belka/Valkyria) and both end up dying for a messed up sense of love with their master (Hayate/Maximillion)
* So how would you explain Reinforce Zwei's existence?
* The Belkans might not be as powerful as they use to be, but they are by no means a lost race.
* Of course, if we're going by such an angle, the inverse could also be true. See below.

[[WMG: Selvaria's soul transmigrates to the Book of Darkness and becomes Reinforce]]
Think about it. Selvaria gave her life to help Maximillian fulfill his dream, her soul AscendsToAHigherPlaneOfExistence and eventually makes its way to the Nanohaverse, becoming Reinforce within the Book of Darkness and has a new start. Perhaps remembering that she wasn't strong enough to see her former master's dreams through in her past life, Selvaria, now as Reinforce, decides to gradually become more proactive in fulfilling Hayate's wishes and utilizing the magical resources of the Book that she has at her disposal. However, this would once again bring tragedy in her life as she took it to the extremes and got taken over by the dark energies of the Book of Darkness. Knowing that perhaps it was for the best, Selvaria gives her life once again, but this time she gave her master Hayate reassurance. Even if she's no longer around, Selvaria believes that Hayate will be alright.

...maybe even Corona or Lio. Think about it: Vivio is 10, she just got her own Device, and a mysterious DarkMagicalGirl is now after her and Ixpellia (who may just as well not be counted, since she's comatose). Does that remind you of TheOriginalSeries? Obviously, there are differences, the main one being: Vivio is the OlderAlterEgo-type MagicalGirl, rather than the usual MagicalGirlWarrior variety. Ergo, her rival in the manga may just as well be a OlderAlterEgo-type ''Dark'' Magical Girl. Bonus points for them both transforming into Ancient Belkan rulers in their adult forms. And what better twist can you apply to that than LivingWithTheVillain? Especially if you consider the general tendency in ''Nanoha'' to ''properly'' [[PickOnSomeoneYourOwnSize pair rivals according to their size]]. OK, I admit that asking Nove where to find Vivio if you already know Vivio from school is a bit pointless, but maybe "Ingvalt" is just someone from a different class. The main idea is: "Ingvalt" is, in fact, someone of Vivio's age who also mastered the adult form, and now aims to achieve... something. Judging by her "Weakness can't protect anyone" line, said something probably has to do with losing a loved one. But she is gonna get befriended, anyway, that much is as certain as an amen in the church.
* Rio and Corona don't fit the DarkMagicalGirl image at all, but promotional materials mention a character in Vivio's school (in a higher grade than Vivio) named Einheart Stratos (cue {{Gundam00}} references) who seems a pretty good candidate for Heidi's real identity.

**** It was revealed in chapter 5, however it's shown that Einhart and Heidi are two different entities who can't remember each other similar to how Vivio was when she first transformed into 'saint kaiser mode' meaning that even if Einhart knew vivio, Heidi wouldn't be able to find her because she dosn't have any of Einhart's memories.
**** To clarify, Einhart isn't actually an ancient Belkan ruler like Ix. She is merely using the title "Hegemon Ingvalt". What her connection with the title is has not yet been revealed.
**** To clarify even further, both Einhart and Vivio have perfect recollection of their actions in their adult forms (Vivio, for example, flashbacks her fight with Nanoha in the first chapter). Vivio didn't have ''control'' over her actions in ''StrikerS'', true, but that had to do with the Relic lodged in her body rather than with her adult form, per se. And the most likely reason why Einhart/Heidi didn't know Vivio personally is simply because Vivio is her [[SempaiKohai underclassman]] and St. Hilde Academy is pretty huge, so you can't reasonably expect everyone to know everyone else. Though the question still remains how Einhart learned about a Saint King clone and the Dark Ruler of Galea residing on Mid-Childa... I'd imagine that being a closely guarded state secret.
***** Whether Fate or Vivio is narrating the flashbacks at the start of the chapter depends on the translation, since it segues into Fate asking how Vivio ended up in Adult Mode.

When Graham selected Hayate to become the mistress of the Book of Darkness, she didn't have any magic potential at all, but a prolonged contact with the Book gave her what is currently the highest power level among ''all'' canon characters. It makes sense to assume that had he seen such power within her from the onset (keep in mind that he is a TSAB official with 50 years of experience and enough magic power to sustain ''two'' familiars at once, so he could ''not'' have missed such potential), he would have selected someone else to play that part and took Hayate directly to Mid-Childa.

It may be further theorized that the gradual increase of the Master/Mistress' power is also a function of the Book: since they are bound to each other, filling the Book's pages with Linker Cores likely transfers some power to its master. It may also be possible that Hayate's poor health was a side effect of her body being forcefully transformed from a Jane Normal into a PhysicalGod (also note the irony of Wolkenritter trying to save Hayate by unknowingly forcing her transformation). This function was, of course, [[{{Understatement}} poorly documented]] since the Masters of the Book usually died violently right after the Book was completed (and they reached the peak of their power, respectively).
* Graham didn't choose Hayate to be the Book's mistress, he had no control over it whatsover, the book chose its own mistress. Thus, your entire theory is based around a false premise.
** Ah, is that so? Dang. Then screw the Graham premise, let's go with the [[ContrivedCoincidence stochastic likelihood of two incredibly strong mages born in the same year in the same city in a world normally devoid of magic]]. The last confirmed case of a mage spontaneously born on Earth was Graham, and that was some 50 years before Nanoha and Hayate's birth in Great Britain.
** Objection! Graham clearly set the thing up, and it's even stated in the manga that he delibrately chose Hayate to be sealed with the book so few people would need to mourn her! He delibrately created a situation in which the book could ''only'' choose Hayate as she was the only person it came into contact with.

**** None of them. He actually said that when he found that master of [=BoD=] is along without friends and family it was something like sign to go with plan which he doubted at moment.

* Isn't this canon? Hayate is explicitly stated to have fused with the core of the Book of Darkness. It's also the reason why Hayate suffers from the SquishyWizard and DoesNotKnowHerOwnStrength tropes - she didn't learn magic normally, she just has access to the ultimate spells of doom contained within the book.
** And where is it "explicitly stated"?
**** In Track 8 of StrikerS Sound Stage 3, Hayate says "My linker core is melded with the original Reinforce, and Rein's linker core is born from my own core so...", to explain why Reinforce Zwei is having dreams of the original Reinforce's memories.
**** Some officer in StrikerS also mentions it (something like "You only got this position because that Lost Logia fused with you!").
*** It would be very hard to watch A's without concluding Hayate is all but unaware of magic, or who and what the Wolkenritter really are, until about the 11th episode. She demonstrates no aptitude before the completion of the book and the manga even makes it clear the Wolkenritter devised "cover stories" for their frequently being out of the house.
*** She does seem to know that the Wolkenritter have magic and, to some degree, what their abilities are; in the first A's Sound Stage, Vita casually mentions using Levantine to heat the water, and Hayate suggests using some of the Book's magic. Hayate can also use telepathy and even overhear telepathic conversations (like when Shamal complains to Zafira about Signum and Vita criticizing her cooking). The Wolkenritter probably informed them of their abilities and offered to show her how to use the Book, but Hayate never intended to go into battle; in Episode 6, Signum suggests that if she fills the book, she can become very powerful and heal her legs, but Hayate refuses because gathering linker cores would hurt people. While she probably had the potential to use magic before then, she never had any cause to do so.
*** The manga mentions how after A's, Hayate's soul gained the memories and aspects of the Book among other things; hence she started being more maternal then....sexually curious.
