Calliat was born into the West Coast music aristocracy, the daughter of Ken Callait, who (with Richard Dashut) co-produced two of Music/FleetwoodMac's masterpiece albums, ''Music/{{Rumours}}'' (1977) and ''Music/{{Tusk}}'' (1979). It should thus come as no surprise that she started working on being a singer since she was 11. She picked up piano when she was 5, on the advice of her parents, and guitar when she was 19. Her parents have been calling her "Coco" since she was an infant.

* {{Adorkable}}: She picks these types of guys to play her love interests in her music videos.

Added DiffLines:

* EndearinglyDorky: The love interest in the video for "Fallin' For You" (played by Bobby Moynihan) is clumsy, a touch overweight, only thinks of bringing flowers at the last second and as a result, gives her flowers from her own front yard, and has all the surfing skill of a native Arizonan, but in spite (or because) of these obvious 'shortcomings', his girlfriend is clearly smitten with the big lug. Lampshaded in Calliat's conversation with her friend in the beginning of the video. "It's weird, 'cause he's not my type at all, but he seemed... kind of funny."
