** Similarly, we have Bennett the Sage of ''Masterpiece Fanfic Theater'', who reads fanfics that tend to reach NightmareFuel levels of {{Squick}}. For instance, a NostalgiaCritic/AngryVideoGameNerd {{Lemon}}. Sure enough, he appeared alongside That Guy.......and proceed to [[EvenEvilHasStandards horrify him]].

* Why hasn't anyone mentioned Bella Swan (or even the author herself) from the the Twilight craze yet?. We're talking about someone who is practically in love with them. Depending on who you ask, Your Mileage may vary.
** Probably because most of her "nightmares" are NightmareRetardant. Vampires aren't scary if they [[MemeticMutation * sparkle* ]].
*** Unless [[OurVampiresAreDifferent their vampires are different]], a vampire is still basically a dead person. And no matter how much it sparkles (like a goddamn fairy) fucking a dead person makes you a necrophile (there's nothing specifically about having sex with a vampire while not being one yourself).

** Heather also voices an interest in the supernatural if you look at some of the occult magazines seen on the ground, and she likes to carry a switchblade knife around with her [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment for no reason other than the fact that she seems to like it.]] Then again, she is [[spoiler: Alessa Gillespie]], so a bit of an interest in the dark and disturbing is pretty much mandatory.

* From ''TheWallflower''/''YamatoNadeshikoShichiHenge'': female lead Sunako Nakahara is a lover of solitude, gore movies, anatomical dolls and objects that reflect "the ugly side of life," as she puts it. Not to mention that she tends to be pretty creepy herself.

Basically, this character is living proof that NightmareFuel is subjective. He or she, usually in marked contrast to other characters, is happily intrigued by whatever is strange, dangerous, disturbing, and/or frightening. If this character is the hero or at least "part of the team," his or her fellows will regard him or her somewhat oddly. Indeed, what's NightmareFuel or {{Squick}} to other characters could very well be FetishFuel or {{Squee}} to this character. For example, a NightmareFetishist may consider Halloween his or her favorite holiday, harbor an obscure or oddly specific kink, think that the monsters he or she's supposed to be fighting are cute, or simply be born with this trait as part of his or her species or family.
