** Max had a minor StrawFeminist attitude - shown when she’s sees a group of boys picking on Ella - which is absent from the comic.

* Most of the major characters in ''ComicBook/{{All Star Batman And Robin|TheBoyWonder}}'' [[DarkerAndEdgier seriously differ]] from their mainstream counterparts. Superman has severe anger issues, Wonder Woman is an [[StrawFeminist unsympathetic man-hater]], the Joker isn't funny, and Batman himself is a violent and cruel ManChild. It was believed that the characters would eventually grow into their more recognizable selves, but that didn't [[ScheduleSlip ever]] [[DevelopmentHell ever]] [[LeftHanging happen]]. After of three years of erratic scheduling... they did not.

* In ''Franchise/TheHitchHikersGuideToTheGalaxy'' novel ''Literature/AndAnotherThing'', Left Brain (Zaphod Beeblebrox's detached second head) is TheSpock and resents all the time he's been subsumed by Zaphod's wild and often stupid primary personality. In the Hexagonal Phase of [[Radio/TheHitchHikersGuideToTheGalaxy the radio series]], while still more intelligent than the remaining head, he's a lot more Zaphod-like. Presumably because if you cast Music/MitchBenn because of how he played Zaphod in the stage show, you want him to actually play the character that way.

** Nessarose is portrayed differently between the [[Literature/{{Wicked}} book]] and the musical. Nessarose's father Frexspar is a [[TheFundamentalist religious man]] and he passed on his beliefs to his youngest daughter. Nessarose is a rather preachy woman who's always talking about the Unnamed God. Her religious views are a large element of her character. The musical {{Adapted Out}} everything about Lurline and the Unnamed God (to the point where the [[OhMyGods characters swear to Oz]]). This means the religious foundation of Nessa's personality was scrapped, putting more emphasis on her jealousy streak.

* ''WebAnimation/DarkSecretsOfGarrysMod'': [[Videogame/HalfLife1 G-Man]] has an innocent and childish personality. Unlike in his source material with his {{stoic}} personality.

* ''Webcomic/AwkwardZombie'' portrays Marth from ''VideoGame/FireEmblem'' [[http://www.awkwardzombie.com/awkward-zombie/disregard-that rather differently]] than the games do. The author was rather surprised when confronted with a game highlighting the difference, noting that "Sometimes I forget that I kinda sorta totally made up his characterization for the purposes of this comic."

** By contrast, Buddy/[[HelloInsertNameHere Undefined]], a.k.a. [[VideoGame/SonicForces the Rookie]] is a much more threatening character, preferring knives to his in-canon Wisp gun and [[SilentBob says very little]] until he challenges Amy. He's also [[AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul best friends with Zero]] in this continuity, and [[AmbiguousDisorder is heavily implied to be neurodivergent in some way]].

** Most famously, Nappa goes from a fairly bland [[TheBrute Brute]] to a ChaoticStupid PsychopathicManchild [[TheDitz Ditz]] who drives [[TheComicallySerious Vegeta]] crazy with his nonsense. [[BetterThanCanon Hilariously, this made him much more popular than he was in the real series.]]

** ComicBook/MilesMorales was instead created in the Ultimate Marvel universe, and then transplanted to the other one. In the original run Jeffeson was the [[MeddlingParents helicopter parent]], and Rio was the [[ParentalObliviousness oblivious parent]]. Here, their roles are exchanged.

* In real life, UsefulNotes/ThomasJefferson was extremely socially awkward and introverted but in ''Theatre/{{Hamilton}}'', he’s charming and gregarious.

* ''ComicBook/DisneyKingdoms'': Downplayed in both of the ''Figment'' series: Figment has the childlike wonder that he possesses in the original ''Ride/JourneyIntoImagination'' ride but also has a few traits from the version of him in the aforementioned ride's 3rd incarnation, mainly a sharp wit.

* In ''Anime/TransformersVictory'', Star Saber is a kind heroic Autobot who is very much an IdealHero. In ''ComicBook/TheTransformersMoreThanMeetsTheEye'', AdaptationalVillainy turned him into a horrible, fascistic, religious KnightTemplar.

** Athena was the goddess of the hunt, and far weaker than Aphrodite or Mars in the Earth-Two continuity, as the queen of some nymphs on the moon she didn't seem any more powerful than her subjects and was easily tricked by boisterous ObviouslyEvil Mars. Subsequent iterations of her focus more on her aspects as a goddess of war and and strategy, making her far more cunning. In the Post-Crisis continuity she quickly became the TopGod of Olympus.

* In ''Theatre/{{Waitress}}'', Jenna is a lot quicker to accept her pregnancy, whereas she spent most of the [[Film/{{Waitress}} film]] acting as if her unborn child was another hardship in her awful life, rather than someone stuck along side her in her awful life.

* ''Machinima/DarkSecretsOfGarrysMod'': [[Videogame/HalfLife1 G-Man]] has an innocent and childish personality. Unlike in his source material with his {{stoic}} personality.

* AdaptationalSeriousness: Alice is more serious in comparison of the original comics.

*** Instead of a RecoveredAddict, Tony Stark fully embraces alcoholism and he's the [[HardDrinkingPartyGirl Hard Drinking Party Guy]]. Additionally, he's also immature and ditzy.
