* LivingToys: Apparently, this is what the world and its inhabitants are to the Creator, much to Twilight's dismay -- Tydal’s story explicitly compares her creating the world to a little filly making dolls and a playmat to play with, which she later took to calling action figures and a landscape in her “teens”. The gods such as Tydal, the Princesses and Discord (who are themselves custom figurines) were even originally called “Top Toys”. Tydal is ''very'' glad she changed her mind about the name.

* MacGuffin: Scootaloo’s origins. The entire series is an anthology series featuring a bridging narrative of Twilight trying to learn the truth about the pegasus

* MythologyGag: Twilight, after losing her voice, writes a barely legible note that Lyra assumes says ‘Smooze’ (something even Lyra isn’t into sexually).

** Spitfire also fills this role in Soarin’s chapter when her reaction to Soarin’ launching into his own insane origin story is to first try to tell him to shut up and that Twilight doesn’t want to hear it, and then to simply go have coffee with Twilight and ignore him.

When Twilight points out that it's unlike Applejack to b so deceitful, AJ says that they warn him each year that they put their "blood, sweat and spit" into every jar.

The sequel, Fanfic/CrisisOfInfiniteTwilights, began in September of 2013, and features Scootaloo as the main character hunting down alternate versions of Twilight who have invaded Equestria.

* FamilyRelationshipSwitcheroo: According to Tydal, Cadence was created to be Celestia's new little sister.

* HomosexualReproduction: The first origin states Scootaloo is the child of Applejack and Rarity.
** Subverted in Iron Will's origin story, where Gilda and Trixie are her parents... Through adoption.
* ImplausibleDeniability: Pinkie claims that Scootaloo is The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well, and refuses to believe Twilight's claim that ''they'' were MMDW. While Twilight can clearly see Pinkie's MMDW costume hanging in her closet.
** According to Snips and Snails, Scootaloo is a vampire slayer who killed Nightmare Moon, Twilight is her stuffy Watcher, Angel Bunny is her vampire lover, and Spike is her mortal enemy. They are explaining this to Spike, who refuses to be a cockney vampire, but they insist that it's all true. And asks that he please don't kill them.

* ItRunsInTheFamily: Twilight and Shining Armor are the only sane ponies in Equestria. Shining's status becomes highly questionable after he has sex with Cadence (a raging nymphomaniac in this story).

* NoodleIncident: Angel and Fancy Pants are involved in a feud whose ''abridged'' history would take three full nights to describe.

* CrowdSong: This occurs several times within the story. Shining Armor, Cadence, along with several random characters sing 'I Just Had Sex' as part of a cutaway. Later, Discord reenacts TheMuppetShow theme with many of the ponies.

* MoodWhiplash: Lyra's story, a variant on ''TheLittleMatchGirl'', drives everyone in the area to tears. When Twilight says that at least it has a happy ending, Lyra starts ranting about how it was a straight tragedy because [[spoiler: Celestia tyrannically stole the dying human Scootaloo away from her own world and turned her into a hands-less pony, which Lyra insists is AFateWorseThanDeath.]]

* TheCameo: Several of the origins feature ponified cameos, including [[Film/BackToTheFuture a time machine inventing pony]], [[Series/DoctorWho a certain Time Lord pony]], and [[ComicBook/BoosterGold the greatest hero you've never heard of]].
