Shortly after the end of [[Characters/TheAmazingRaceAllStars2014 All-Stars]], CBS hit Race fans with two big pieces of news. First off, the show would be moving to [[FridayNightDeathSlot Friday night]], airing on a night other than Sunday for the first time since 2007, with the original All-Stars. Second, fans were invited to watch the teams start the race from Times Square on May 31st, 2014, making it the first time the Race teams were officially announced to the public prior to the season being completed. They also introduced the Save, which gave the team who won it a free pass to stay in the game if they ever finished last in an elimination leg.

The show itself rebounded huge from All-Stars, with a cast that was the most all-around likable since [[Characters/TheAmazingRace12 Season 12]], racing on a course that showed more variety and spectacle than the much derided All-Stars course. Three teams dominated for most of the season, combining to win the first ten legs and looking like they had the Final 3 locked up. However, a wild card underdog managed to slip into the Final 3, giving the series one of its biggest surprise winners.

* AmazonianBeauty: Brooke. She carried Robbie on her back to the Pit Stop on the penultimate leg.

* AmazonianBeauty: Kym was smaller than Brooke, but her muscles were more defined (especially seen during the surfing Fast Forward), and she would often show them off.

** [[{{InUniverse}} Michael's reaction]] at the viking torch Detour, when Brooke & Robbie couldn't figure out how to bend a nail on top of their torch, with him saying that's something people usually figure out how do naturally by hitting a nail wrong.
** Amy & Maya also talked about how dumb the wrestlers were after they failed to U-Turn Kym & Alli in leg 9, leaving the door open for the cyclists to recover from missing the Fast Forward.

* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: While setting up their tent at the Detour in leg 6, they were trying to prop up the tent with one of the poles. The show cut to a wide shot of them under the tarp, with dialogue that made it sound like they were having sex, with noises and lines such as, "Just stick it up there."

* MeanCharacterNiceActor: In leg 10, Robbie said how in the ring he's usually booed, as he normally plays the heel.

* [[ReadTheFreakingManual Read the Freaking Clue]]: During the coconut Roadblock in leg 11, Robbie, along with missing the posted delivery instructions, did not read how many of each item he needed to deliver, forcing him to backtrack a second time, though they had such a huge lead due to the other teams' mistakes that he still finished first.

As the only train to Aberdeen, Scotland left six hours from then, they went out to explore Oxford on their own while the other teams camped out at the train station, saying that the whole point of the Race was to see the world.

** They proposed to Brooke & Robbie to U-Turn both the Surfers and the Cyclists in leg 9 to ensure the demise of the team who didn't get the Fast Forward and eliminate at least one strong team. This worked to some extent, as they kept up their end of the deal, but Brooke & Robbie didn't.
** At the beginning of leg 10, they borrowed their cab driver's phone to call ahead to a travel agent, allowing them to get the last tickets on the first flight to Manila over Jim & Misti.

* GenreSavvy:
** They planned to stack most of Misti's Roadblocks at the beginning of the season, so Jim, who they expected to be better at them, could do more late in the season, though it did almost cost them in leg 4 when Misti choked at the restaurant Roadblock.
** In 2nd place in the second leg, and presented with the opportunity to go for the Express Pass, they did not even try for the Pass, knowing that Adam & Bethany, in 1st place, most likely would've gone for the Express Pass, as it was more a valuable prize than winning the leg.
** Starting Leg 4, before the ferry left for Aberdeen, they decided to head to a local library and look online for flights. Only Kym & Alli were able to secure earlier flights (2 hours earlier than Misti & Jim) and that was only because they won the race to the ticket counter.

* GenreSavvy: Whitney deciding to take the penalty at the treasure hunting Roadblock, and then talking the other two teams into taking it as well, citing the same situation which had happened at the end of the [[Characters/TheAmazingRace22 Season 22 premiere]].

* HeyItsThatGuy: InUniverse. Bethany was recognized by a firefighter when they stopped to ask for directions to the Southwest Marine Warehouse in Los Angeles.

Realtor Sisters, they came in very confident in their abilities. After arriving in the U.S Virgin Islands, they managed to steal a spot on the fifth[[note]]of six[[/note]] sea plane when Michelle grabbed the marker out of Michael's hand when he was trying to sign their names on the board. They were one of the teams to struggle at the treasure hunting Roadblock, and Lisa agreed to the four-hour penalty plan when Keith presented it, thinking they would be able to beat one of the other teams, namely Michael & Scott, in a footrace. Unfortunately, Scott shoved Lisa during the race to get a cab, putting them in the last cab, and ultimately eliminating them in 11th place.

Dating Pro Wrestlers with the Wrestling/{{TNA}} organization. They struggled early on, constantly finding themselves in last place, but staying in the game mostly because of their performance at the physical portions of the game. Their poor performance took a back seat to their antics, as Brooke freaked out whenever they would hit the smallest of problems, while Robbie constantly [[LargeHam Chewed the Scenery]]. Despite always insisting that they were a threat to win, they never followed through on these boasts until they won the penultimate leg. However, they got sorely lost trying to find the Los Angeles City Hall due to following bad directions, dropping them way behind. By the time they reached the first Roadblock, Phil was waiting to eliminate them in 4th place.

* TemptingFate: At the start of Leg 9, Adam said he couldn't see a flight getting into Singapore earlier than the one they had at 6:40. Kym & Alli then found a faster one.
