[[folder:Royama Ruka]]
A classmate of Ino's, and Sana's main target for bullying, she's introduced in the thirty-third Gaiden.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: She's polite, deferential, friendly, and loving toward her family, but if you set yourself up for a verbal zinger from her, she won't pull any punches.
* DeadpanSnarker: She's got a surprisingly vicious verbal zinger in response to Sana telling her not to try pursuing the handsome upperclassman Nakao Amai. Ino and Naruto are actually taken aback when they hear it.
--> '''Sana:''' Guys as youthful and full of passion like Amai-kun don't want little chickadees like you--they want women on their level, women who can match their enthusiasm. You'll have to wait another ten years before you'll even begin to qualify.
--> '''Ruka:''' Then if that description of what Amai-sempai likes is true, then in ten years you'll be too old and saggy to match his enthusiasm, isn't that right?
* NamedByTheAdaptation: She didn't have a revealed surname in canon.
* SingleGirlSeeksMostPopularGuy: What got her on Sana's radar for bullying in the first place--she was seeking the attention of the handsome and popular upperclassman Nakao Amai.

* BullyHunter: This is part of why she was openly opposed to Mizuki's gang, even back when Konoha Town's residents thought he was a Kyuushingai, and it's also why she leads the charge in defying Darui's gang when the Ino-Shika-Cho meet him in Kumo City. [[folder:Kagura Sana]]
Konoha High School's head cheerleader and captain of the gymnastics club, introduced during the thirty-third Gaiden.
* AdaptationalVillainy: While her canon counterpart was certainly arrogant and sadistic, and while she and her teammates opposed Konoha, that was largely in the context of their participating in the villages' joint Chuunin exams. Here, she's downright malicious and petty.
* AlphaBitch: While her introduction paints her as a very popular person, it soon becomes apparent from her interactions with Ruka that she's actually this.
* BoobsOfSteel: Her boob-size is the first thing Naruto notices about her. She's also a pretty skilled hand-to-hand combatant.
* TheBully: A female one, mainly toward Ruka.
* TheCheerleader: The lead cheerleader, in fact.
* DanceBattler: Justified by her gymnastics experience.
* KnifeNut: She fights Naruto while armed with a switchblade during the thirty-third Gaiden.
* ManipulativeBitch: During the forty-second and forty-third Gaidens, she blackmails Ruka into setting Naruto up to be attacked by Suigetsu, or else she'll release Ruka's deepest secret to the whole school (that she's got a part-time job, which is a violation of school rules).
* ProudBeauty: She loves to soak up compliments about her beauty. Hence, she doesn't respond well when Ruka disses her age by calling her "Sana-baa-chan (Grandma Sana), early edition."

!!Yamanaka Ino
One of Naruto's classmates at Konoha High School, and the first one to both find out about his past as a Kyuushingai and to accept him and become his friend in spite of it. Her family owns a greengrocery store.
* ActionGirl: Very, very active.
* AllWomenLoveShoes: In Chapter 4, Ino is shown to have purchased five shopping bags' worth of shoes...the thing is, though, she's making poor Naruto carry four of the five bags, with him having both hands, his neck and his mouth occupied with the bags as a result.
--> '''Naruto:''' ''(speech impeded by the bag in his mouth)'' Aw vis fer shoes?
--> '''Ino:''' Yes, Naruto, all this for shoes.
* AscendedExtra: In the sense that, in canon, she was one of the main supporting cast but otherwise didn't impact the plot as hugely as, say, Hinata, Shikamaru or Gaara; whereas in this fic, she's one of the major characters from the get-go.
* BatterUp: Her weapon of choice in the first two chapters, used against Naruto during their first meeting (she thought he was trying to rob her father), and then against some of Mizuki's goons before they manage to overpower and restrain her. She hasn't been seen wielding a bat since then, though.
* BerserkButton: Don't waste pudding around her. Played for comedy.
* BoisterousBruiser: She's not exactly a quiet individual. Nor is she a ''weak'' one, either.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: She's not one to stand back while innocent civilians are being hassled by thugs. The first noteworthy example of this shows when she attacks Aoi for trying to sexually assault a random woman ''long'' before Naruto gets involved in the fray; and much later, she's the first to challenge Darui for his shaking-down of local store-owners, even when Shikamaru and Choji are reluctant to get involved.
* CordonBleughChef: Bordering on LethalChef, at that. She makes a dish of pepperpot soup[[note]]a real-life dish native to the Caribbean, with ingredients consisting of peppers, beef, tapioca sauce, cinnamon, garlic, onion, thyme, basil, sugar and salt[[/note]] and serves it to the gang in Chapter 100...and only Choji and Kushina can stomach it, the latter (herself a SupremeChef) pointing out just what Ino's done wrong after a few test-tastes. For Naruto, Shikamaru and Sasuke, though, the concoction "tastes like vomit."
--> '''Choji:''' Well, it doesn't ''smell'' toxic...
* FragileSpeedster: According to Kushina's observation in Chapter 96, during Ino's brief spar with Hinata. It's indicated much earlier than this, too, particularly during her fight with Aoi in the Uchiha Zaibatsu Invitational tournament, where she's fast enough to deliver blows and get out of reach but runs into trouble once her opponent manages to land one good hit on her.
* GroinAttack: She tends to inflict this more often than not. She has a particularly painful one that she came up with to deter any DirtyOldMan who'd try to hit on her while shopping at her family's store: grab the balls and ''twist''. It's also just as effective on women as on men, as Kin found out to her agony.
* TheMatchmaker: Ino, being a ShipperOnDeck for Naruto and Hinata, seeks to get the two of them talking by luring Naruto into a classroom where Hinata's waiting to see him.
* TheNotLoveInterest: Let's see. She was introduced as a main character, she was the first to accept Naruto in spite of his past, and she's displayed {{Tsundere}} behavior around him, not to mention a few of the readers' reviews asked essentially if the two of them would hook up. Despite all this, though, the author has insisted repeatedly that, while they are certainly quite close, Naruto and Ino are not hitching up, and indeed Ino herself is TheMatchmaker and ShipperOnDeck for Naruto and Hinata. [[spoiler:Cemented by her RelationshipUpgrade with Sai]].
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Hinata's blue.
* ShipperOnDeck: For Naruto and Hinata.
* SweetTooth: Given her perpetual craving for pudding.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Hinata's girly-girl.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: She's active in sports and street fighting, but she's still got the typical interest in boys.
* TomboyishPonytail
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pudding.

!!Haruno Sakura
Ino's main rival at Konoha High School, and an early (and failed) love interest to Naruto. She's also the daughter of Haruno Kizashi, the chief surgeon at Konoha Hospital.
* AcademicAlphaBitch: Her first appearance paints her this way, always lording over Ino because of the fact that, a year prior, she'd gotten the highest GPA out of all the girls in their class (Ino came a close second, losing out by five points). It's later deconstructed, however, in that behaving this way will bleed into one's social interactions with others, which in turn will lead to one getting viewed as a stuck-up, pretentious, arrogant blowhard who everyone resents and avoids. Sakura later finds this out the hard way when Sasuke, the object of her crush, tears into her with a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech over her behavior; and even well into one Gaiden chapter which takes place long after the events of the main story, another student, Haruna, is still unwilling to see any good qualities in Sakura ''because'' the latter practiced this former mindset.
--> '''Sasuke:''' You refuse to admit when someone has a quality you lack, yet you obsess over it when you ''think'' they do. You don't hesitate to put such people down, and make enemies out of them.
* ActionGirl: She's not about to let the boys outdo her during the fight with the Blood Mist Gang in Chapter 41.
* BadassBookworm: She was the top-performing female student in her year-group during the previous school year prior to the start of the story. She's also capable of dishing out a beating in the middle of a group brawl, or fighting Ino in one-on-one combat.
* BatterUp: She proves to be quite handy with a baseball bat during the fight with the Blood Mist Gang, even stylishly twirling it around for a bit before slugging one of the thugs with it.
* CherryBlossomGirl: Her name's Sakura, she has pink hair, she's associated with medical expertise (indirectly--her father's a surgeon), she's a LoveInterest for Sasuke, and she's strongly associated with cherry blossoms in Chapter 152 [[spoiler:during Sasuke's rather erotic dream about her following their RelationshipUpgrade]].
* DefrostingIceQueen: When first introduced, she's absolutely uncivil to Naruto, bitchy to Ino, and haughty to everyone else not named Sasuke. It takes a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech from Sasuke for her to start thawing, but it's not until [[spoiler:her family's home and car are vandalized by a pair of students who resented her behavior]] that she really starts humbling herself.
* ForeheadOfDoom: Naturally enough, her having this provides Ino with fodder to use in response to Sakura's "pig" insults. Their first conversation in Chapter 2 is just the first example.
--> '''Sakura:''' Eating alone again, piggy? And is that a pork sausage you've got? Don't tell me you've turned cannibal now?
--> '''Ino:''' Since when do you care what I eat, Great Forehead of China?
* HiddenDepths: For most of the story, especially prior to her CharacterDevelopment, Sakura comes across as shallow, vain, arrogant, overly proud of her academic skill, and outright snobbish...but she's also been wrestling with the fact that [[WhenYouComingHomeDad her father's always staying out late at work and is consequently rarely home to enjoy a meal with the family]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: She might quarrel with Ino frequently, look down on people of lower social standing than herself, and lord her queen-bee status over everyone else...but when [[spoiler:Aoi savagely beats Ino during Sasuke's tournament]], Sakura shows a considerable amount of compassion because, as she herself declares, nobody deserves to undergo something like that.
* RapunzelHair: Sakura's hair is her pride and joy, according to Chapter 2's narrative; however, Ino takes advantage of it during their fight in the Uchiha Zaibatsu Invitational. Much later, Sakura has Ino [[ImportantHaircut cut it to shoulder-length]] as a sign that she's casting off her perceived weakness.
* RichBitch: She starts the story as this, and it doesn't help that she's the daughter of Konoha Town's resident surgeon. Witness her response to Naruto's attempt to ask her out on a date, in Chapter 3:
--> '''Naruto:''' Say, Sakura-chan, I just got two free-meal coupons to use at Burger Castle, and I was wondering if you'd like to--
--> '''Sakura:''' Forget it! I don't eat at Burger Castle, for your information. I only eat at well-known franchise restaurants or places that have class...and even if I ate at Burger Castle, I wouldn't go on a date with weirdos like you! I only date popular boys, and popular you are not.
* TheRival: For Ino, in everything from academics to school sports to Sasuke.
* SharedUnusualTrait: Sakura's pink hair is seen as being unusual, and here it's explicitly identified as having been inherited from her father.
--> '''Kushina:''' You're the daughter of Haruno Kizashi, the chief surgeon at the hospital, aren't you?
--> '''Sakura:''' Huh? Uh, yeah, he's my father.
--> '''Kushina:''' I thought as much. [[LampshadeHanging There aren't that many people in Konoha Town with pink hair]].

!!Sai
A student of Konoha High School with a great interest in art. Later becomes Ino's love interest.
* {{Adorkable}}: In Chapter 68, toward Ino when she's flirtatiously teasing him [[spoiler:right before their FirstKiss]].
* BerserkButton: Don't desecrate his artwork. He pulverizes four bullies who do it out of spite, almost killing one before Kakashi intervenes in the nick of time.
** [[spoiler:Following his RelationshipUpgrade with Ino, don't harm her. Period. He sees her as a one-of-a-kind work of art, and if you defile her in any way, Sai will ''brutalize'' you, as Aoi found out when he attempted to rape Ino]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He's quite a pleasant and polite guy, and will paint portraits of you if you ask him. Just don't [[BerserkButton destroy his artwork]].
* {{Bishonen}}: How Ino perceives him during their first meeting.
--> '''Hinata:''' ''(watching Sai paint a colorful portrait)'' Such beauty...
--> '''Ino:''' Y-yeah. ''(blushing)'' And that painting's really nice too...
* DeadpanSnarker: He's definitely capable. Witness his response to a thug who he's just locked inside a dumpster.
--> '''Thug:''' Wait--what the--OW, OW, OWWW! C'mon, man, there are rats in this thing!
--> '''Sai:''' Then you'll fit right in.
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: He developed feelings for Ino around the time of the Uchiha Zaibatsu arc. [[spoiler:Culminated in them becoming a couple later]].
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Of course.

!!Hozuki Suigetsu
A local troublemaker who butts heads with Naruto from their first meeting in Chapter 7.
* BoisterousWeakling: He can talk a big game, sure, but he's yet to actually ''win'' a fight against a named opponent.
* {{Delinquents}}: He's treated as one, given that he's been arrested previously for shoplifting and has gotten into trouble for illegal vending of concession items, plus his repeated antagonism of Naruto.
* [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even Criminal Douchebags Have Standards]]: Suigetsu's got a criminal record for shoplifting and is an opportunist who'll take advantage of Naruto's scheduled fight with Kiba to make a buck off the event, and he'll throw baseballs at Naruto just to show he can...but he takes vocal exception [[spoiler:when Aoi batters Ino bloody]]. He's also averse to the idea of drug use, which is why he quit Arashi's gang in his back-story.
* FiveFingerDiscount: What Detective Ibiki once busted him for.
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: Yes, he's abrasive, arrogant, selfish, out to make a quick buck at the expense of others, and a former street thug. The others in the cast tolerate him due to his having inside knowledge in the workings of the local gangs, and also because, at his best, he's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
* HiddenDepths: In Chapter 107, Suigetsu shows a surprising amount of knowledge concerning the process of sugar production, something he credits to the fact that his father used to work in a food-processing plant. He also has a fairly good idea that successful businesses offer things their competitors don't have, advice he shares with Hanabi for her lemonade stand.
* {{Irony}}: At one point, he declares that he hates cops, due to them behaving in what he sees as a hypocritical manner, citing Ibiki's relationship with Idate as an example. [[spoiler:In the DistantFinale, Suigetsu has become a cop himself]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: The heart of gold is buried ''really'' deep, but it's there. It especially shows up in Chapter 107.
* NoRespectGuy: Considering his family history and his own JerkAss tendencies, Suigetsu doesn't get a lot of respect from anyone. Jugo's quite possibly the only person so far who ''doesn't'' put him down, due to both of them being friends for years and having gone through delinquency together, and even then Jugo still fires the occasional verbal pot-shot at him.
* NotAMorningPerson: He's not the early bird that catches the worm, as Chapter 44 shows.
--> '''Jugo:''' C'mon, would you wake up already?
--> '''Suigetsu:''' ''(sleepily)'' Mmm...lay off already, Jugo, I'm dreaming about [[HotTeacher Mei-sensei]]...
* OddFriendship: With Hinata, somewhat. They don't interact that often, and have only had two moments where they have direct contact with each other, but she's the only one he's never tried to insult or pull pranks on, and she in turn doesn't put him down or insult him.
* OpportunisticBastard: Kiba makes his challenge to fight Naruto. What does Suigetsu do? He sells concession items to anyone who's coming to watch the bout.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Jugo's blue.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Wise Guy to Jugo's Straight Man.
* TheTrickster: He tries to pull this on Naruto on two different occasions. Key word: ''tries''. The first time, he tries to get away with hitting Naruto with a baseball during batting practice, only for Naruto to knock it right into his balls; the second time, he attempts to trick Naruto into drinking a bottle of pee disguised as soda, only for Naruto to force-feed ''him'' the uric drink.

!!Tenbin Jugo
Suigetsu's best friend at Konoha High School.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: He's strong and tough enough to give opponents a hell of a fight. At the same time, he's always polite, humble, and ready to help a friend in need.
* DeadpanSnarker: Suigetsu's his usual target.
* {{Delinquents}}: Used to be one, alongside Suigetsu. Given his current disposition, he hasn't engaged in any deviant behavior in a while, though he still hangs out with Suigetsu, who's still carrying on with questionable antics.
* [[EvenEvilHasStandards Even Delinquents Have Standards]]: He broke ranks with Arashi's gang, alongside Suigetsu, when the gang started using drugs.
--> '''Suigetsu:''' Jugo didn't need a lot of convincing to split with me.
* FaceOfAThug: According to Akamaru's doggy evaluation. But he's one of the nicer guys in the supporting cast.
* FiveFingerDiscount: According to his own testimony, Jugo used to shoplift and pick pockets with Suigetsu.
* MellowFellow: Usually pretty relaxed and calm.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: In canon, he's not revealed to have a surname; here, he's given the surname Tenbin, which is derived from his canon nickname "Tenbin no Jugo" ("Jugo of the Scales").
* OnlyFriend: To Suigetsu, for all the time they've known each other.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Suigetsu's red.
* SpiritedCompetitor: He sees Naruto as a WorthyOpponent during the Uchiha Zaibatsu tournament.
* StraightManAndWiseGuy: The Straight Man to Suigetsu's Wise Guy.

!!Aburame Shino
A student at Konoha High School, whose father works in telecommunications. He shares Spanish class with Ino and has a liking for comic books and (like in canon) bug collecting.
* CombatPragmatist: How does he defeat Kiba during their qualifier fight in Sasuke's tournament? He evades Kiba's attacks, then grabs Kiba in a submission hold and threatens to break his arm if Kiba doesn't yield.
* CoolShades
* CreepyGood: He collects bugs, he lurks around in trees to such an extent that you won't even know he's above you unless he speaks, and he doesn't talk much (albeit he does talk more here than in canon). Despite this, he's one of the good guys.
* OddFriendship: With Naruto.
* TheQuietOne: Although this story makes him a bit more talkative and social than his canon-series counterpart.
* SunglassesAtNight

!!Inuzuka Kiba
A student at Konoha High School, and the son of police chief Inuzuka Tsume and younger brother of Inuzuka Hana. He's got his dog Akamaru, like in canon (though here Akamaru is a normal dog).
* ActionPet: He's got Akamaru, natch.
* AttackAttackAttack: His main fighting strategy. However, the two times he's shown fighting against a named opponent, that strategy gets defeated--Naruto wins via DeadlyDodging, while [[CombatPragmatist Shino]] puts him in a submission hold and threatens to break his arm if he doesn't yield.
* BerserkButton: Kiba ''is'' Akamaru's button--if you hurt his master, prepare to be bitten.
* BigFriendlyDog: Akamaru again.
* BoisterousBruiser
* CanineCompanion: Akamaru is this for Kiba, of course.
* DisappearedDad: We don't hear anything about Kiba's father in the main story. The seventh Gaiden eventually explains that he ran out on the family, with Tsume hinting that Mr. Inuzuka may have been unfaithful.
* HeroesLoveDogs: Kiba definitely cares for Akamaru's well-being, and the feeling is mutual.
* HopelessSuitor: Was this for Hinata.
* HotBlooded
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Among Naruto's school-friends, Kiba is the last to find out about the other boy's Kyuushingai past. He expresses dismay when Sasuke points this out to him.

!!Rock Lee
One of Neji's classmates in his senior year, and one of his most recurring companions together with Tenten. Lee is energetic and always spouting statements having to do with "youthfulness."
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Like his canon-series counterpart, he initially harbors feelings for Sakura. Sakura herself is quite repulsed at the idea, though she at least manages not to display said displeasure too openly, and she's not above taking advantage of Lee's crush to get out of having to accept a date-offer from Naruto (this being before her CharacterDevelopment).
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Yes, he makes cringe-worthy, if overly enthusiastic, declarations about the merits of youth. Yes, he [[CloudCuckoolander acts with hot-blooded acceptance, including literal fire in his eyes]], toward Hanabi's declaration of him being her "knight in green armor." And yes, he can ''definitely'' give you a CurbStompBattle once he's properly motivated, as two convenience-store robbers find out to their agony.
* BigOlEyebrows: Natch. Both Naruto and Ino have pointed them out, much to Lee's displeasure.
* CantHoldHisLiquor: Although in a slightly more realistic contrast to his canon counterpart, it takes a cup and then a bottle of wine to get him hammered. This trait is also the subject of a NoodleIncident that took place during an end-of-school-year party he attended, where he somehow mistook bourbon for apple juice.
* CovertPervert: Surprisingly so, especially when he [[MistakenForGay mistakes Sakura and Ino for a lesbian couple]] and has a ''very'' vivid image of...[[GirlOnGirlIsHot related stuff]].
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Lee is mainly a source of comic relief, especially after he meets and is occasionally paired with Hanabi. That being said, his only fight scene so far shows him using the DynamicEntry and RapidFireFisticuffs to brutally put down two robbers with little stress to himself.
* DrunkenMaster: As Chojuro found out to his dismay, Lee's fighting gets...''unpredictable'' when he's hammered.
* EmotionalBruiser: Yes, he's strong as a fighter. No, he's not afraid to wear his emotions on his sleeve.
* SarcasmBlind
* ShipperOnDeck: For Neji and Tenten.
* SpannerInTheWorks: If not for Lee's presence at the Hyuga mansion at the time of Chojuro's break-in, Chojuro and his gang would have successfully been able to rob the place.

!!Tamura Tenten
One of Neji's classmates in his senior year, and one of his most recurring companions together with Lee.
* ActionGirl: More so than most of the other girls in the cast, in fact.
* AscendedExtra: She was pretty much a SatelliteCharacter in the canon series. Here, she gets significantly more importance with her backstory tying in to the events of the 365 days. [[spoiler:Specifically, her parents were killed during a botched bombing pulled off by Fuu, and Tenten herself was later rescued from a life of homelessness by Killer Bee]].
* AttackAttackAttack: Her preferred combat style, though she's certainly capable of defense. However, it gets deconstructed during her fight with Shikamaru in Sasuke's tournament.
* BadassBiker
* BikerBabe
* BloodKnight: She's always willing to fight, as it's a form of training for her.
* BrokenBird: [[spoiler:Being orphaned during the 365 days' chaos, and subsequently having no stable abode due to having no other living relatives, has made Tenten very bitter two years later]].
* CarryABigStick: Tenten carries ''[[DualWielding two]]'' morning-star clubs to her fight with Naruto in Chapter 16.
* CoolBike: She owns a Harley-Davidson.
* MinorLivingAlone: Not in the current timeline, as she's 18 years old and therefore at the age of consent, but for the two years in between the end of the 365 days and the start of the main story, by virtue of having no living relatives on either side of her family [[spoiler:and her parents, in particular, being killed during the 365 days]].
* NamedByTheAdaptation: In canon, her surname (assuming she even has one) has never been revealed. Here, she's given the surname Tamura, which is derived from the name of her Japanese voice actress in the anime.
* OdangoHair: Of course. She's even referred to as "Panda-girl" by the desk manager at her apartment building because of it.
* OneNoteCook: By her own admission, the only thing she's good at making that actually requires the use of a stove is French toast.
* ParentalAbandonment: [[spoiler:Tenten's parents died in an assault by the Kyuushingai during the 365 days]].
* PluckyGirl: Even if her opponent is a Kyuushingai, she will not concede defeat.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: Tenten might engage in street fights, train very hard, and hang out at bars, but she usually prefers wearing skirts instead of jeans.

!!Nara Shikamaru
One of Naruto's schoolmates, he is also close friends with Ino and Choji.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Just like in canon. As a prime example, he's able to point out flaws in Tenten's defense [[CovertPervert while groping her private parts]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: See what happened to Fubuki and her Ice-Eyes Gang when they broke in his house in chapter 83. [[ToThePain It wasn't pretty]]. They shouldn't have mentioned Aoi sent them...
* CovertPervert: As proven during his fight with Tenten. He also openly sings (alongside Choji) about how TheInternetIsForPorn.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: We know from the canon series that Shikamaru's this. How does it apply in this universe? Well, he's still as lazy as ever, describes everything as "troublesome," and prefers watching clouds to buying ''his own lunch'' at school...yet he was able to point out flaws in Tenten's defense even after taking the opportunity to [[CovertPervert grope her naughty bits]] during their fight in Chapter 24, and knocked Aoi unconscious with [[OneHitKO one punch]] in Chapter 27.
* DeadpanSnarker: Mostly toward Ino's antics or Choji's appetite.
* NotAMorningPerson: As demonstrated in Chapter 44--he's perfectly willing to skip out on a mandatory school field trip in order to get a few extra minutes of sleep. Of course, Ino and Choji don't let him have that luxury.

!!Akimichi Choji
One of Shikamaru's and Ino's friends, he later becomes acquainted with Naruto. His family owns a meat shop.
* {{Acrofatic}}: Just like his canon counterpart, despite being big on the bulk, he's still fast enough to keep up with Shikamaru during their fight in Sasuke's tournament.
* BerserkButton: [[LostFoodGrievance Causing him to drop his food, even by accident]]. Ironically, calling him fat in this universe ''doesn't'' have quite the same effect (though he's not above punching Naruto for it).
** Also, don't harm his friends or family. [[spoiler:When one of Kazuma's Flame-heart Posse members stabbed Choza (non-fatally), Choji went on a rampage]].
* BigEater: Like his canon counterpart, of course. Sasuke [[FoodAsBribe plays on this]] to convince him to fight Shikamaru in their qualifier match for the Uchiha Zaibatsu Invitational Tournament.
* IAmBigBoned: His insistence when Naruto lays into him with the "fat" insults during their first meeting.

!!Haku
A third-year student alongside Sai, who also happens to be a member of Arashi's Purple Storm gang, albeit apparently unwillingly.
* AdaptationalWimp: In canon, he was able to totally overpower Naruto and Sasuke during their second confrontation in the Land of Waves arc, and was skilled enough with needles to put Zabuza in a death-like state that briefly fooled even Kakashi. Here, he's a massive pushover who's intimidated by Arashi.
* BadLiar: When he's sent out by Arashi to peddle Gold Sand, Haku quickly outs himself as this--when Fuu sees the pills and asks what they are, he claims they're nothing (she's not fooled). Then, when two of Arashi's gang members--who were following Haku to make sure he'd sell the pills--decide to move in, Haku claims he's just trying to make a deal with Fuu and Tenten concerning the pills; however, the gangsters aren't fooled at his failed bluff.
* DudeLooksLikeALady: Natch. He was actually bullied for it.
* ExtremeDoormat
* LongHairedPrettyBoy
* TheQuietOne: Hand-in-hand with his ExtremeDoormat status.
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: Taken UpToEleven when Sakura and Ino first meet him, despite the fact that he's quite obviously wearing ''the boys' school uniform''.
--> '''Sakura and Ino:''' YOU LOOK SO MUCH PRETTIER THAN US!

!!Arashi
A senior-year student who's also the leader of the Purple Storm gang. He's got a history with Haku, Suigetsu and Jugo.
* {{Blackmail}}: Coerces Haku into becoming a drug pusher with the threat of removing his protection of Haku from the bullying he used to endure if he refuses.
* TheBully: The second one seen at Konoha High, after Aoi.
* [[YouGottaHaveBlueHair You Gotta Have Purple Hair]]

!!Komatsu Karui
A student in Hinata's Music class. She's introduced in Chapter 88, performing alongside Hinata in the school's music recital. It's later revealed that she takes part in underground oil wrestling.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: In canon, she's a HotBlooded FieryRedhead who acts like a textbook {{Tsundere}}; here, she's...not. The author's post-chapter commentary indicates that this is deliberate.
* CulturedBadass: She's been trained to play the violin, and is very skilled at it. She's also a capable fighter when it comes to oil wrestling.
* DaddysGirl: Even though her father walked out on her and her mother five years earlier, Karui is still quite fond of him. Part of it comes from her understanding ''why'' he left--because he couldn't deal with her mother's overbearing attitude.
* DarkSkinnedRedhead
* ElegantClassicalMusician: She's skilled at the violin...but she ''hates'' it because it's only to fulfill [[EducationMama her mother's wishes]].
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: After getting hit in the back of the head once during a brief skirmish with Naruto, she wisely opts out of continuing.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: Her surname comes from the name of her voice actress.
* ProWrestlingIsReal: Well, oil wrestling in her case. It's meant to be a source of entertainment for the audience, but Karui herself is really going all-out against her opponent the one time we see her in action.
* TheQuietOne: According to Hinata's observation, Karui doesn't talk much, but she expresses herself through her music.
* TheResenter: Toward her mother, for forcing Karui to take up music so as to live out her own failed dreams through her daughter.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: Karui's dark skin and red hair come directly from her father, but she takes her amber eyes from her mother. According to the post-chapter notes in the eighteenth Gaiden, [[RelatedInTheAdaptation Banna was chosen to be Karui's father in this story's universe]] specifically because both of them are dark-skinned redheads; where Amayo's eyes are concerned, they're only slightly darker than Karui's (her canon counterpart's picture on the ''Naruto'' Wiki page has eyes that appear hazel, but are described as simply brown), with the explanation being that Karui inherited the amber eyes from one of her maternal grandparents and that the eye-color mostly skipped Amayo, whose eye color is less pronounced as a result.
* WellDoneSonGuy: It's revealed she has this issue with [[EducationMama her mother]].

!!Ozaki Haruna
A student of Konoha High School who first shows up during the Tribunal arc, along with her friends (listed below) to hassle Sakura over comments the latter's father has made at a town hall meeting held to discuss the presence of the Kyuushingai in the area.
* AcademicAthlete: The Gaiden chapters reveal her to be the school's top track star. [[spoiler:And by the DistantFinale, she's smart enough to have become a cop]].
* AdaptationalVillainy: Well, she's not part of this story's RoguesGallery by any means, but her canon self was definitely not [[spoiler:criminally-minded enough to cause damage to a hated character's personal property]]. By the time of the Gaiden chapters, though, [[CharacterDevelopment she gets a little better]].
* AscendedExtra: Kind of. In the canon series' anime, Haruna was a filler character who was the daimyo of the Land of Vegetables and gave Naruto support in her arc. Here, she's still a minor character, but one who gets quite a bit of attention (relative to other minor characters) and some quiet CharacterDevelopment, more so in the Gaiden chapters.
* AllWomenLoveShoes: She has this in common with her best friend Emiru.
* CovertPervert: One Gaiden chapter shows her reading a copy of the ''Icha-Icha'' book series alone in her room, even having a nose-bleed on reading one particularly racy story, and then trying to hide the book from her father when he comes knocking. She's even willing to blackmail Kagari and Mahiru into securing a copy of the book for her, in exchange for her keeping silent about their peeping habits.
* EveryoneHasStandards: She's something of a jerk, yes, and definitely holds contempt for Sakura (which, to be fair, stems from Sakura's own past bitchiness), but in the Gaiden chapters, the first thing she does on seeing an injured Naruto is to run over and help him get to the hospital. When her father, who ''really'' doesn't approve of Naruto following the latter's revelation as a Kyuushingai, asks Haruna why she did that, Haruna (who's still grappling with finding an answer to that question herself) cites the Golden Rule of doing to others what she would want done for herself.
* KidsAreCruel / TeensAreMonsters: She was perfectly willing to stand by and mock Sakura while her guy friends were about to assault the pink-haired girl, except Sasuke showed up right at that point. [[spoiler:Then Emiru and Haruna went further and vandalized Sakura's house and her dad's car]].
* MamaDidntRaiseNoCriminal: After being brought in for questioning by Ibiki and Iruka following the confrontation with Sakura [[spoiler:and subsequent vandalism of her house]], Haruna angrily declares that her father will sue the police for what they've done, and indeed when her dad shows up at the police station he's exceptionally indignant at the idea that his daughter could be accused of such misconduct...only to be appropriately embarrassed when shown the evidence of her guilt not long after.
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: [[spoiler:Emiru and Haruna spray-paint hate messages on the front of the Haruno family house and trash Dr. Haruno's car. Kagari and Mahiru ''were'' supposed to take part, but they chickened out at the last minute]].
* NamedbyTheAdaptation: Haruna is given the surname Ozaki in this story.
* TheResenter: [[spoiler:Haruna holds a pretty strong grudge against Sakura, one that lasts even after her CharacterDevelopment begins, due to Sakura's previous AcademicAlphaBitch behavior. Dr. Haruno's comments in support of the Kyuushingai simply gave Haruna and company a convenient excuse to accost Sakura and later vandalize the Haruno family's property]].

!!Kagari, Mahiru, and Emiru
Haruna's friends who first show up alongside her during the Tribunal arc.
* AdaptationalVillainy: Played straight with Emiru, who was a very minor character but was still friendly to Naruto. Concerning the boys, Kagari was already an Amegakure-affiliated villain in the canon series and the filler arc that featured Aoi, and while we don't know Mahiru's canon morality, he was definitely an enemy of Kakashi and Minato as revealed in their back-story.
* AllMenArePerverts: One Gaiden chapter reveals that, at some point, Kagari and Mahiru tried boring a hole into a wall of the girls' shower-room to facilitate peeping. Haruna uses this against them as blackmail, [[HypocriticalHumor by making them secure a copy of a dirty book for her]] in exchange for her not telling their mothers about that incident.
* AllWomenLoveShoes: Emiru shares this with her best friend Haruna.
* TheBully: At least one of the boys was willing to get physical with Sakura over her father's comments. [[spoiler:The girls took it a step further]].
* DeathByAdaptation: [[spoiler:In the original series, Emiru (there a very minor character) is quite alive and well. Here, she gets murdered by the Spiral Reaper]].
* KidsAreCruel / TeensAreMonsters: They were perfectly willing to assault Sakura, except Sasuke showed up right at that point. [[spoiler:Emiru and Haruna went further and vandalized Sakura's house and her dad's car]].
* MoreDeadlyThanTheMale: [[spoiler:Emiru works with Haruna to spray-paint hate messages on the front of the Haruno family house and trash Dr. Haruno's car. Kagari and Mahiru ''were'' supposed to take part, but they chickened out at the last minute]].
* TheResenter: [[spoiler:Another thing Emiru has in common with Haruna, regarding Sakura]].
