* FamilyUnfriendlyDeath: Beowulf attacks Vergil and ends up having his head ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEkmsMLJ2dc diced]]'' by him.

* DropTheHammer: Furiataurus' weapon is a flaming hammer that produces lava eruptions when it slams the ground.

* SummonMagic: His main tactic. Just loves to summon various {{Mooks}} [[FlunkyBoss during his]] BossBattle. It becomes grating when coupled with his BodyguardBabes for Dante's second fight. Also, he summons one of the game's bosses ([[OurMinotaursAreDifferent Furi]][[PlayingWithFire atau]][[DropTheHammer rus]]) to fight Dante in his stead.

* MakeMeWannaShout: Orangguerra can fire a bubble-like projectile of concussive force from its mouth.

* KillOneOthersGetStronger: Kill one of them and the survivor takes his fallen brother's weapon, introducing new and more difficult combos than when you fight the both of them.

* WakeUpCallBoss: If Cerberus didn't send you the memo these two will. Agni and Rudra will more than often block and counter if you attack recklessly and they tend to coordinate their moves, so if you don't pay attention on your second foe you ''will'' get hit in the back.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: It's pointed out in the enemies files that even Mundus despises [[PoisonousPerson the Nobodies]], hence why they never have an actual title.

* ExtraEyes: He's commonly associated with three-points of lights for the placement of his eyes.

* BerserkButton: He does not take kindly to Nero calling his secret underground lab a "hellhole" or making fun of his stutter. Both acts get him mad enough to send the Gladii after Nero and initiate a boss battle.

* TheUnfought: [[spoiler:Agnus and Sanctus are both battled in human and demon forms. Credo, however, is only battled in a demon form, and his swordsmanship in human form remains an InformedAbility]].

* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Nevan is [[NotUsingTheZWord never outright referred to as a vampire]], but calling her one is still a pretty safe bet. She tries to suck out Dante's soul by [[KissOfDeath kissing him]], attempts to bite his neck, has a flowing waterfall just outside the cave mouth leading to her lair (and much like the other bosses, it's implied that she never leaves her lair), is deathly pale, and has an affinity towards bats and can [[OneToMillionToOne transform into a swarm of them]]. She's based on the Leanan sídhe, also called the Dearg-Dul, which are vampiric fae from Irish folklore. She's named from Nemain (pronounced Nevan), the spirit of frenzied war in Celtic folklore.

* {{Foil}}: To Arkham. Both men are ordinary humans that wanted to gain godlike power. Unlike Arkham, he is already a rich and powerful man that owns his own island and corporation and didn't need trickery to get what he wanted.

* EvilIsSexy: InUniverse, with Dante going along with it in his talk mostly because [[ItAmusedMe he feels like it]].

* BonusBoss: As Jester, he has a few optional fights in the Special Edition of the game.

* SadlyMythtaken: The character design for Beowulf is different from the human folk hero from Denmark/Germanic myth. With those four wings, a scorpion tail, claws and talons and a lion-like face, he greatly resembles [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pazuzu Pazuzu]] or a little [[Literature/{{Beowulf}} Grendel]]. [[RuleOfCool Probably they thought that Beowulf was a cool name for a weapon]].

* WreckedWeapon: The Visions of V manga reveals that he was the reason Yamato was broken, having reduced it to just the handle by the time Vergil was turned into Nelo Angelo, making him a precursor to Urizen's own destruction of Rebellion.

* WreckedWeapon: Invokes this trope by doing something that no villain in the series up to this point has done before: ''shattering Rebellion into a million pieces with a single punch!''

* TheCameo: He appears in TheStinger of ''[=DMC3=]'' in the form of his three eyes, appearing to fight Vergil.

* AmbiguouslyBi: Was married to a woman and as Jester, repeatedly taunts Dante that he will spank Dante on his butt, and also [[TooKinkyToTorture slaps his own ass provocatively in taunt]] when the latter beats him. Jester has a way of showing up and getting in Dante's personal space like a creepy obsessed stalker.

* AmbiguouslyBi: Was married to a woman and as Jester, repeatedly taunts Dante that he will [[HoYay spank Dante on his butt]], and also [[TooKinkyToTorture slaps his ass in taunt]] when the latter beats him. Jester has a way of showing up and getting in Dante's personal space like a creepy obsessed stalker.

* AmbiguouslyBi: Was married to a woman and as Jester, exhibits a lot of HoYay towards Dante. He repeatedly taunts the latter that he will spank Dante on his butt, and also [[TooKinkyToTorture slaps his ass]] in taunt when he beats him. Jester has a way of showing up and getting in Dante's personal space like a creepy obsessed stalker.

* DirtyCoward: Spends all of his fights hiding from you behind something, be it a shield, the Savior, or the Sparda sword. He only beats Nero the first time because he uses Kyrie as a human shield. After the final boss fight, he holds her hostage when his stole prove insufficient to beat Nero. [[spoiler:It is ''very'' satisfying when Nero guts his ass like a fish.]]

* BonusBoss: Dante's Secret Room 60 contains what is by far the hardest fight in ''2'' - [[FinalBoss The Despair Embodied]] with mooks followed by TWO Despair Embodieds. [[ShmuckBait Try this on Dante Must Die at your peril!]]

* DefeatMeansRespect: Several of them (Cerberus, Agni & Rudra, and Nevan) express admiration for Dante's abilities after he defeats and either willing transform into Devil Arms for him to wield or outright beg him to take them with him.
