* HonorRelatedAbuse: It's established as shameful for Iwao that Nagare inherited position of clan head as a ''younger'' brother and therefore not having a birthright to it. Out of revenge for this slight, Iwao [[spoiler:murders Nagare's baby and possibly his wife,]] and goes on to convince people that acknowledge Nagare is their ''friend'' that he deserves to have his child's grave desecrated, and to be murdered.
** In his monologue regarding his past, he also says he strived to be "worthy of the honorable name Kurosaki," and is overjoyed to be declared head. It was all a ploy. His father was just using his drive to uphold this honor to make him a sacrifice.
** While being raped, Yato insults him in various ways... but what hurts him the most is when his ancestors' honor is insulted.
