* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Is so in thrall to Thulsa Doom that she tries to fight Valeria during her rescue.

* DesignatedGirlFight: Tries to pick one with Valeria, but is easily subdued with one good smack upside the head.

* SnakesAreSexy: Uses living snakes as body ornaments.

* TheBrute: A large man who mostly knows how to DropTheHammer and not much else.

* DropTheHammer: His favorite weapon is a big mallet that looks like a beer barrel on top of a short pole.

* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: Thorgrim's habit of [[smashing things without thinking]] is used against him by Conan during the Battle of the Mounds by means of a nasty trap that ends up putting a spike roughly the thickness of your average birch tree straight through the big guy's chest. Ouch. And worse, he's still moving.

* AdaptationalIntelligence: The original Conan was far from being dumb, but had no intellectual education nor interest on such things, in particular philosophy, whose only conclusion for him was that philosophers were all insane. This version, in contrast, is given philosophy scrolls to studying while training, and although admittedly we don't get to hear his opinion about the texts, he is still shown reading them without complaint.

* AllThereInTheScript: Valeria's name is never mentioned in the movie but it is mentioned in the [[Film/ConanTheDestroyer sequel]].

* AllThereInTheManual: He is referred to as "Akiro" in the [[Film/ConanTheDestroyer sequel]].

* TheVoiceless: She never speaks

* AllThereInTheScript: The Princess' name is never said in the movie, but according to the script and novelization her name is "Yasimina".

* EvilOverlord: He doesn't rule a country of his own per se, but still has enough power to threaten kings, and rules his cult like this behind the prophet facade he gives to pilgrims of his cult.
* EvilSorcerer: He can turn himself into a snake, seemingly has mental control over snakes (being also able of turning them into magical arrows) and can hypnotize people through either stare or talking.

Downplayed, though, because his deity flatly refuses to aid those who will not help themselves and has little use for reverence; Crom respects strength and those that fight for themselves, the former Conan has in abundance, and the latter he proves against Doom's men, possibly leading to Crom rewarding him with some DivineIntervention by sending a Valkyrie Valeria to aid him in a moment of need.

* WarriorPoet: Akiro notes that Conan was not only educated in combat but also in philosophy and poetry. And there are these pieces of dialogue from the director's cut:

* {{Yellowface}}: Downplayed. Subotai is a Tuvan (Turkic) name and Gerry Lopez isn't of Northern Asian descent, but he is of Hawaiian-Mexican one instead and does look racially ambiguous.

* AmbiguouslyBrown: Invoked; his straight hair and blue eyes are meant to portray him as a race that no longer exists in the context of our world.

* DirtyCoward: There are four occasions where it's implied that despite his magic powers, numerous followers and intimidating aura, he's a coward at heart. First he hypnotizes Conan's mother when she is prepared to fight him with a sword, then decapitates her when she lowers her sword and guard instead of fighting her fairly. Second he turns into a giant snake and flees the orgy chamber before the battle, with the novelization explaining he knew the chamber was about to be attacked by Conan and the others. Third he returns only after they are escaping with the Princess to shoot Valeria InTheBack with a snake arrow as they are leaving, killing her. And lastly he later attacks Conan, Subotai and the Wizard with overwhelming odds in his favor to kidnap the Princess again, and when the tide of battle surprisingly turns against them, instead of joining the battle and [[VillainousValor fighting Conan]] he tries to [[IfICantHaveYou kill the Princess]] and flees again back to his lair when he fails to accomplish even this.

* DoomyDoomsOfDoom: Thulsa Doom, leader of the cult of the Children Of Doom, who await the day of doom when they'll rain doom upon their enemies while chanting "dooooom".

* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: Some critics have found him somewhat reminiscent of infamous cult leader Jim Jones.

* PetTheDog: He abruptly decides that Conan has been a slave for long enough and sets him free.

* SlaveLiberation: One night, for some reason, he had enough with Conan and broke his SlaveCollar, freeing him. Though he's drunk at the time, so he probably regretted it in the morning.

* TheUsurper: Stole the former ruler of Zamora's rightful throne, if his nickname is any indication.

* SexSlave: Its is not sure whether Thulsa Doom himself or one of his male followers used her as a sex slave, but she's surely surrounded by a lot of them in a room that is devoted to orgies.
** King Osric says bitterly "She is to be ''his!''" implying that as a princess she's being reserved to be wed by Thulsa himself, who has nefarious designs for her and her power.

* HoneyTrap: She invites Conan in her hut to warm by her fire, offers him food and drinks, predicts his future and has sex with him. Then she turns into a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Succubus succubus]] of sorts.

* MagicalBarefooter: She's barefoot, in line with her wild witch outlook. She later takes everything anyways.

* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: After losing his entire force at the battle of the Mounds, Thulsa Doom temporarily halts his retreat to try bumping her off with another snake arrow, having no further use for her.

* RatedMForManly: What with Arnold Schwarzenegger (fresh out of his bodybuilding years) playing the TropeCodifier of BarbarianHero and SwordAndSorcery.

* ButNotTooBlack: He has straight hair and blue eyes, giving him a distinctly un-African look. According to the director's commentary, this was done to make him look more like a member of a long-forgotten race.

** Valeria is the fighter as she has the most straightforward attacking style and has no trouble fighting and killing multiple enemies at once. [[spoiler:She also becomes a [[{{Valkyries}} Valkyrie-esque spirit]] after she dies.]]
** Akiro the Wizard is the only one in the party to have actual magic abilities such as the power to [[spoiler:save Conan from death]] and some basic {{telekinesis}}.
** Subotai is introduced as a thief in his [[EstablishingCharacterMoment first scene]]. He is also an archer and generally exploits his range advantage against his opponents. In the Battle of the Mounds, he takes up a spear in contrast to Conan who [[BrutishCharacterBrutishWeapon switches to a battle-axe instead]].

* BigDamnHeroes: Gets his heroic moment when he saves Subotai's ass in the battle.
* BladeOnAStick: He uses a spear to kill one of Thulsa Doom's men to save Subotai during the battle.

* BarbarianHero: His literary counterpart is the TropeCodifier. Similarly, the movie version is a muscular, long-haired man who enjoys fighting and worships a war god Crom. That said, the movie version of Conan is also educated in philosphy and poetry, making him a GeniusBruiser.
