The [=JSDF=] uses it in ground operations for [=ISTAR=] (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance) missions. It's generally deployed in coastlines to better monitor the walls that cover the shores, but they can be called by the [=JSDF=] for anti-personnel operations to support the [=MHA=]. It has heavy armor that cover the robot. The Spider fights by launching missiles after it uses a laser to seek its target. Its belly houses several machine gun for close quarters in case enemy personnel would get to close to it.
