It's an actual concern of Ben's as to whether or not Ampfibian is too powerful, given how one of his fears is accidentally killing Kevin (''an energy-absorbing being'') by shocking him too hard.

* WeaksauceWeakness: Sort of. Despite being a jellyfish-like alien, and being able to breathe underwater, he is vulnerable to water. WordOfGod is that he can use his electricity just fine if he's fully submerged, but if he's using electricity while entering the water, or is only partially submerged, he will electrocute himself. * CheshireCatGrin: It smiles this way, and the similarity only gets stronger when it goes invisible.

* EverythingsBetterWithDinosaurs: The only dinosaur-like alien of the ''Alien Force'' era, he becomes even more dinosaur-like as Ultimate Humungusaur.

* IncredibleShrinkingMan: And he ''starts'' at about an inch.
* LethalJokeCharacter: Much like Grey Matter, he is small and possess weak attacks, but he can be used to destroy robots from the inside.

* BadassBoast: His "Let me tell you something" speeches are intended to be this. It usually ends up more like parodying it, but on occasions, he can actually give quite awesome ones; the one he delivered to Jarret of the Pantaphage was particularly epic.

His design is completely overhauled in ''Omniverse''. His powers are also dependent on which version is in question due to the huge change made to his four extra limbs. In ''Ultimate Alien'', he just becomes stronger and more suspended. In ''Omniverse'', his extra ''legs'' become extra ''arms'' which add to his strength and dexterity. In both versions, his spinner moves from his tail to his mouth when undergoing evolution.

* MadeOfIndestructium: Ultimate Spidermonkey is shown to be able to survive a close-range nuclear explosion.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Spidermonkey. In ''Omniverse'', Ultimate Spidermonkey has six arms.
* ShoutOut: To Franchise/SpiderMan.
* SpiderLimbs: Ultimate Spidermonkey trades the additional arms for four spider-like legs. In Omniverse, the spider legs are replaced with gorilla arms.

Because of this, he is the only alien where Azmuth had to develop a fail-safe on the Omnitrix to ensure he ''wouldn't'' turn into Alien X.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: Upgrade also has a liquid state, and is a technopath who is capable of flight and many other feats with his versatile set of circuitry powers. Suddenly, Goop being rarely used in Omniverse makes a lot of sense.

* InformedAbility: Ultimate Echo Echo was stated by Derrick Wyatt to be capable of duplicating like regular Echo Echo, but he never actually used the ability.

* MesACrowd: Unlike Ditto, however, the duplicates are not constantly synced to each other, so it is possible for each one to transform into different forms separately, as seen in the episode "Duped" of ''Ultimate Alien''. Ultimate Echo Echo was originally stated to be incapable of this, but this has been retconned.

* PoweredArmor: According to Derrick Wyatt, he (and other Sonorosians) are made of living soundwaves so they wear containment suits.

* AllPowerfulBystander: Alien X easily has the power to stop literally any threat Ben could ever face, but because his personalities are near impossible to persuade, Ben is forced to watch helplessly no matter how much chaos is unfolding before him. Bellicus and Serena's BystanderSyndrome is so much so that they treat even the destruction of the entire universe with little more than indifference and mild pity, respectively. Bellicus then treats the restoration of the universe as little more than a small inconvience.

* LikeAnOldMarriedCouple: Bellicus and Serena's relationship fits this to a T, albeit on a cosmic godly level. Their entire dynamic is based around around the fact that they can never agree on anything, but they evidently do care about each other quite a bit -- Bellicus gets angry at Ben in his debut for hurting Serena's feelings, and is evidently embarrassed when she speaks to to him in a sing-song voice.

** His ''Omniverse'' design is reminiscent of Batman's outfit from ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'', while WordOfGod states his overall build takes after Man-Bat.

* GlassCannon: His ice powers are extremely powerful and able to defeat much stronger opponents, but his physical structure is relatively weak compared to most of Ben's fight-oriented aliens, making him easy to defeat if you find a way to attack him before he goes intangible (good luck for that though). Possibly averted in ''Omniverse'', where he is shown to be bulkier and possibly stronger physically.
* HarmlessFreezing: Unless Ben engaged in a major BloodlessCarnage slaughter-fest in "Hit 'Em Where They Live", BC's ice is like this.

* AwesomenessByAnalysis: In "The Vengers", he {{CurbStomp}}s the Vengers by predicting their tactics, taking advantage of their weaknesses, and using the environment against them.

WordOfGod attributed this to low toy sales and Doctor Psychobos, a fellow member of his species, was partially created to alleviate this.

* GeniusDitz: Ben's most intelligent alien during ''Force/Ultimate'' and second most intelligent species in the galaxy. That said, Ben often gets distracted and makes foolish decisions while in this form. Averted in ''Omniverse'', however, where he was shown more capable.

* PutOnABus: He was the ''only'' electric alien that did not appear in "Max's Monster", on [[WordOfGod the sole justification]] that [[http://new.spring.me/#!/swampsoar/q/534465449799219799 he's a brain alien with some minor electric side powers]], and as such not an electrical alien. [[invoked]]
* TheRival: Apparently, Galvans and Cerebrocrustaceans tend to have a rivalry over which one of them is the smartest species in the Universe; Cerebrocrustacean villain Dr. Psychobos' entire motivations revolve around proving his species is superior to the Galvans, Brainstorm once had a small argument on the subject with Azmuth, and Galvan minor characters Blucik and Driba have been known to make condescending comments about Cerebrocrustaceans at least twice in the show.

* {{Telepathy}}: WordOfGod states that Cerebrocrustacanes do not speak with their mouths, and instead mentally project their thoughts as sound waves. [[invoked]]

* VocalEvolution: He has a different voice and accent in ''Omniverse'' as a result of Creator/CoreyBurton [[TheOtherDarrin taking over]] and gives him a German accent.

* ChekhovsGunman: Played a role in ''Ultimate Alien'' episode 16.

* LanternJawOfJustice: In ''Omniverse''.
* TheLoad: Alien X is a reality-bending SuperMode alien, the most powerful being in the universe. The problem is that Ben has to get a majority agreement on the tasks at hand with two other personalities within the alien. But seeing as they can't agree on anything, and are only ''slightly'' more likely to agree with Ben, the form was literally dead weight until Ben had managed to convince Bellicus and Serena that he didn't need to interfere in their debates.
* MesACrowd: Can duplicate himself, because of his RealityWarper powers.

* NighInvulnerable: Alien X is impervious to everything it has been hit with, ranging from blaster fire to ''the complete annihilation of the universe'' completely by virtue of deciding whether they'd be harmed. Simply put, if Ben and the other personalities agree that they don't ''want'' to be hurt, they ''won't'' be, with only other Celestialsapiens able to hurt them. However, there's one exception - they cannot survive on [[DesertedIsland Anur Vladias]], a DarkWorld where ''nothing survives'', not even Celestialsapiens.
* NotSoInvincibleAfterAll: Though Alien X is portrayed as an omnipotent being, there are certain instances where this is simply not the case. For example, he nearly loses to the Galactic Gladiator (though this is entirely justified as [[TakesOneToKillOne the gladiator is a Celestialsapien himself]]) and [[spoiler:the fail-safe that protects Ben from dying fails to activate in multiversal threats hinting that not even Alien X can protect Ben from attacks on a multiversal level]]. WordOfGod also says that Celestialsapiens can't survive on Anur Vladias. [[invoked]]

* {{Retcon}}: In ''[[WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce Alien Force]]'', Ben functioned as the tiebreaker for Alien X. If he could get either Serena ''or'' Bellicus to agree to anything then it would be decided. In ''Omniverse'' the decision had to be unanimous, with ''both'' Serena and Bellicus agreeing.
** Justified as the last time he got what he wanted done, they got in trouble for it. It makes sense that they'd be a little more cautious, or maybe it's even a punishment from the council that judged them.
** It turns out Celestialsapiens can [[{{Retconjuration}} invoke this as a power]] for reality ''at large'', which is used as a sly HandWave for the many BroadStrokes different teams have chosen to take with their own visions of ''Ben 10''. Celestialsapiens are revealed in "Universe vs Tennyson" to be responsible for all the ArtShift changes and voices of characters changing, as demonstrated with Azmuth's repeatedly altered appearance and voice.

* FreakyIsCool: Many fans of the series admit to liking Big Chill simply because of his Grim Reaper like appearance as well as his echoey, monotone voice.

* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Not Four Arms himself, but Tetramands as a species are this.

* RedIsHeroic: Red skin and all.
* UnstoppableRage: Ben's anger is ''especially'' prevalent in this form. His opponents who usually have him by the ropes get brutally beaten back the second he gets motivated (i.e when his family is threatened).

* SpotlightStealingSquad: He was Ben's favorite alien and had the tendency of appearing for a significant amount of times in the original series; he appears in 27 episodes overall, the most of any Omnitrix alien. Toned down in the sequels, as Ben couldn't access him again until ''Ultimate Alien''. Played straight again in ''Omniverse'', he is tied with [=XLR8=] and Feedback as the most used transformation.

* {{Retcon}}: Transylians were originally stated to be the second smartest species in the galaxy behind Galvans, and Frankenstrike was said to be one of the aliens Ben 10,000 used to create a second Omnitrix for Kenny. This was later retconned, with Cerebrocrustaceans instead taking this position, and Transylians not having enhanced intelligence at all. ''Then'' the first thing Frankenstrike did when he was used again implied higher intelligence so who knows...

* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Even after regaining the form, Ben was afraid to use it due to the fear of Zs'Skayr taking over. Now that Zs'Skayr is no longer in the Omnitrix, Ghostfreak exists independently from him, so this no longer an issue. However, the fact that the presence of Charmcaster's stone creatures forced the Omnitrix to limit Ben's selection only to Ghostfreak, and Zs'Skayr emerging after Darkstar's ritual was foiled indicates that they might still be connected somehow.

* InformedAbility: The Bandai profile mentions Ectonurites possess some amount of psychic powers. Ben was never seen using those abilities as Ghostfreak. [[EnemyWithout Zs'Skayr]], [[SuperPoweredEvilSide on the other hand]]... [[FridgeBrilliance Ben, inexperienced as he was at the time, likely didn't know about them]]. Also, Zs'Skayr was only seen using those abilities in his true form, which Ben never used.

* OurGhostsAreDifferent: They are a species of aliens from a mysterious sector called Anur Phaetos, are connected through a HiveMind that can manifest through even the slightest sample of their DNA, and are WeakenedByTheLight. They can, however, wear a second skin to protect them from it, at the cost of weakening most of their powers. Said skin gives them their ghost-like appearance, but behind it, they look like creatures with black-and-white tentacles writhing everywhere, an upside-down cyclopean skull, and large claws.\\
''Omniverse'' dips closer to the conventional ghost; Ben boasts that, in this form, he is not technically alive and thus immune to Darkstar's LifeDrain abilities. WordOfGod has stated that Ectonurites are alive; however, their concept of "life" is very different from other sapient life forms.
* StoryBreakerPower: In a conflict against a single, powerful opponent, Ghostfreak can immediately end things by just turning invisible, flying up to them, and possessing them.

* JackOfAllStats: He can hit, possesses acceptable durability, flies with limited capabilities, and can blast fire.
* LivingLava: He is literally this.

* DarkIsNotEvil: Though the alien who provided the sample sure was.

* BewareTheSillyOnes: Upchuck doesn't seem very imposing at first glance, and his power to eat anything sounds completely ridiculous at first, even to Ben. He's ultimately shown to be one of Ben's most powerful aliens -- he can easily swallow the energy equivalent of a ''star'', and ''Omniverse'' he's one of the few races ''confirmed'' to lack a predator. The only other known race to share that trait are ''humans''.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: Swampfire possesses similar plant-based powers, plus a remarkable HealingFactor and PlayingWithFire. ''Omniverse'' slightly addresses this by revealing that Florauna possesses a healing factor as well, as well as emphasizing Wildvine's greater elastic powers.

* AngryGuardDog: With ape arms.

* CallASmeerpARabbit: Or in this case a dog.

* JackOfAllStats: Wildmutt has a fairly good balance of strength, durability, speed, and agility compared to the other alien forms.

* OvershadowedByAwesome: Swampfire possesses similar plant-based powers, plus a remarkable HealingFactor and PlayingWithFire. Possibly corrected in ''Omniverse'', where it's revealed that Florauna possesses a healing factor as well.

* SuperSpeed: 10 years old [=XLR8=] can run 500 miles an hour. It's unknown exactly how fast the older versions can go, but Ben 10,000's version of the alien was said to be able to break the speed of sound with little effort.
* ThemeNaming: Somehow, Ben gave him a PunnyName that still fits with Kineceleran naming structure, even though he didn't even know what a Kineceleran ''was'' at the time.

* ConfusionFu[=/=]MightyGlacier: He's the latter when he's just Upgrade and the former when... everything else.

* TheSmartGuy: Along with Grey Matter, the main appeal Upgrade seems to be brains over brawns, as he can merge with technology and use it to fight for him. Unlike Grey Matter, Upgrade ''can'' hold his own in a fight for the most part; he's just never Ben's first choice to go into physical combat with.

* TookALevelInBadass:
** ''Alien Force'' reveals through Ship that Mechamorphs can "eat" technology and gain the ability to turn into whatever they've eaten at will.
** In the original series his upgrades were limited by the machinery he possessed. Sure he could get things to shoot lasers that had no business shooting lasers, but if he possessed a piece of exercise equipment he was not going to be moving anywhere. In ''Omniverse'', when he possesses Kevin's car he gives it the ability to fly and turn into a HumongousMecha.
* TronLines: Galvanic Mechamorphs as a species have these, and they do well to add extra [[RuleOfCool awesomeness]] to whatever tech they fuse with

* StoryBreakerPower: A lot of enemies would be defeated in a matter of ''seconds'' if Ben just used this guy (his first appearance had him easily defeat ''[[TheJuggernaut Vilgax]]''), which might explain why he wasn't introduced until the original series' finale and brought back in the season two finale of ''Alien Force''. After that, the writers were forced to either rely on Ben carrying the IdiotBall or the Omnitrix's tendencies to give him the wrong alien to ensure Ben wouldn't use him too often. Way Big also can't be used inside buildings or aboard space ships because he's too big to fit inside them. Ben knows that using Way Big is overkill in normal circumstances.

* SuperStrength: The ''Ben 10'' wiki states that he has great strength [[UpToEleven even in proportion to his massive size]]. To put things into perspective: his debut established he can throw a normal-sized Vilgax into space. ''Alien Force'' shows he can throw a ''Way Big-sized Vilgax'' into space.
