Haruhi is a fighter too. In the beach fight she was a Glass Cannon. And now she granted herself more abilities while not in safe mode.

Kyon: Big Damn Hero: timeline & trailerI highly doubt that Haruhi's going to be a front-line fighter, unless she's added some sort of defensive capability - which would be Genre Savvy of her but atypical of her personality - since she's likely not as durable as the other three.
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls. But also, personality-wise, she won't want to be left out of battles.
Kyon: Big Damn Hero: timeline & trailerIt's more her trouble with thinking some things through that I think would come into play: she'd want to be involved and would therefore improve things there but would overlook something due to rushing. Like defence. Still a Glass Cannon, just one that's far more dangerous.
Speaking of such things... the SOS Brigade pretty much has three Lightning Bruisers.
Hmm... maybe Haruhi just overlooked actual damage-absorbing ability? Then she would probably have made herself into a Fragile Speedster - I guess Koizumi might go there, if you can even hurt what's effectively a ball of cuttiness.

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls. Some random notes on the subject:
Has Kanae visited Kyon prior to her first Bedmate Reveal? I'm curious if she teleported "to Kyon's bed"(place as focus) or "to where is Kyon"(person as focus). Both have different applications in battle.
I realized we missed the In a Single Bound trope for Kyon. I need to correct this when I get to a computer.
Kyon: Big Damn Hero: timeline & trailerI don't think she has.
We haven't added it? Hmm... guess I'd best do that.
On a semi-related note: do Kyon's upgrades * put him under the Gravity Master trope?
And on a completely unrelated note, do you think Tsuruya wears underwear when it's not absolutely necessary? She seems to move a lot, which might indicate that something else is also absent.

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls. At least Kanae's return trip was to her own room, which I suppose was empty at the time as she's "an only child" (phrase?)
Gravity Master looks right. And Kyon doesn't use gravity manipulation only to jump; if managed to divert that minivan.

Kyon: Big Damn Hero: timeline & trailerHe also used it to compress the shards from the shattered skylight.
If Kyon found a better power source than body heat, he'd effectively have telekinesis.
Now, what about the other question I asked?
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.Kanae had been to Kyon's house before, when she and Haruhi had attempted to support Kyon when his mother was harping on him for his fight with Ryugyuu Ryo. It's at the beginning of Chapter 7.
And I find highly unlikely that she'd be literally Going Commando; going braless, I'd understand, though you might want to point out a couple of examples of her "moving a lot" in normal clothes, and definitely not in an informal kimono/yukata or in pajamas.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Pretty sure it was mentioned when she was wearing the dress. However, I can't remember which chapter that was in...
And on a related note, don't kimono and yukata make up something like 90% of Tsuruya's non-school clothing?
On a related related note, Kimono Is Traditional?

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls. On Tsuruya Going Commando, I don't believe so but it wouldn't surprise me if I'm mistaken.

Kyon: Big Damn Hero: timeline & trailerFound it!
Given Tsuruya's wardrobe and odd bounciness and strange sense of modesty, Going Commando doesn't seem that odd, to me. Not when her default clothing at home is 'traditional Japanese', with emphasis on traditional. Familiarity and all.
Think her family's heritage has something to do with the traditionalism? *

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls. You know, if she actually sleeps in a kimono/yukata instead of Western-style pajamas (I don't remember; can someone confirm?), then she almost certainly has to go commando; see Kimono Fanservice for details. It has basis in real-life.
And yeah, maybe it does. And yes, it is a word.
Wait, what Tsuruya heritage are we talking about?
On another note, having reread Chapter 7's initial scene, I have a very strong desire to see Kyon's mom in a situation where she is proven to have been royally wrong, while Haruhi has been royally right. Payback is a bitch.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Hmm... I think she does. Let me check...
Does appear to be the case.

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.Ninja'd. Okay, that's one instance down.
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. The heritage to do with Raiko and stuff. Not the Yakuza heritage. The Tsuruya family have strangely noble roots for Yakuza, too...
Right and wrong about what?
One instance down of... again, what?
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls."Raiko"?
Right about the heritage and traditionalism question.
And one instance of sleeping in a kimono. Two more instances of that and I'd be fully willing to accept that yes, she probably does go commando whenever she goes to sleep.

Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus. You need three instances of something that has only been observed once? That may be a problem, given how many times we've seen Tsuruya sleep.
And just when sleeping? I still suspect it's in general. That's what theorising's for, right? Guessing based on what we know for certain? I just like taking things to their logical conclusion.
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.Rule of Three, and only for the assumption that she's always Going Commando while in sleepwear.
... No, I don't believe for a second that she would willingly forgo wearing her lower underwear while wearing a skirt. Especially one that does not go farther than her knees. She's not that uninihibited.
edited 15th Mar '11 1:28:27 PM by MarqFJA
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.Eh, if you wait for three examples for everything, I'm not sure much could ever be proved.
In school, especially due to gym and short skirts, would be one of those things I'd say qualifies as necessary. Otherwise? I don't think she's actually worn any short skirts.
edited 15th Mar '11 1:38:46 PM by RainyDaze
Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.I'm not waiting for three examples before merely listing Going Commando; just before adding the tidbit about her always doing that (so far, at least).
That aside, there's still the issue with unintended cameltoes while wearing pants/shorts without underwear. And even a relatively long skirt will still get blown up far enough for a glimpse of underwear... or lack of thereof (Is the phrasing correct? I'm not used to using "thereof" and such words).
edited 15th Mar '11 1:52:35 PM by MarqFJA
Fiat iustitia, et pereat mundus.People manage in real life. I'm pretty sure that Tsuruya would have enough experience, in this scenario, to deal with any problems.
I've yet to see anything like that happen in real life, even on a really, really windy day. Sure it's possible at all likely to happen if you're paying the slightest bit of attention to the weather?
'Or lack thereof' is correct but what you wrote slips my mind.

Now collecting White-Haired Pretty Girls.
I'd think Kyon would stand up pretty well to ki attacks. Most of the time ki attacks are just portrayed as kinetic force of some kind. He can withstand the force of getting hit by a minivan and still snark about it. Unless we're talking about enough force to blow up mountains like in Dragonball Z or something, in which case it's time to tag out with Nagato.
