In Headspace, the unnamed elder of the Stonesthrow Village will verbally disapprove of Moon's relationship if the player picked Thyme's gender to be same as Moon's at the start of the game. If you come back to Stonesthrow after it's been evacuated, you can find a secret room in the Elder's house which contains (among other things) letters that heavily implies he had a past sexual relationship with the village blacksmith, which is commented on by Thyme.

In A Morning of Flames, Inquisitor Dreadgrave goes up against Queen Renala, a diplomat who preaches world peace, but in truth absorbs neighboring countries into her husband's oppressive dictatorship. Inquisitor Dreadgrave interperets this as, if not the Whore of Babylon and the Antichrist, at least a very close parrallel.

My New Life in the Galactic Empire: General Nero Cycrosis suffered grievous injuries during the Polaris Revolution 40 years ago, requiring multiple surgeries and cybernetic implants to survive. By the present day he prefers to stay in a medical pod at all times, as he finds moving outside of it too painful to deal with.

In Ava Raine Bringer, evil Lord Ted DiBiase offers the medieval equivalent of this in heavy green leather satchels filled with gold coins (stand-ins for the Money in the Bank briefcase) that he offers to anybody he thinks he can bribe into swearing their loyalty to him. However, because Evil Has a Bad Sense of Humor, Lord {=Di Biase=} only gives his money to these agents after they draw blood from their own hands and sprinkle the coins with it, staining them red and creating literal blood money. One Wham Episode of the story is when such a satchel is found in the possession of Baron Paul Heyman.

A power-hungry sociopath with insincere charm and a severe Lack of Empathy, Lord Heenan wages war on the Raw Alliance, and especially on their leader Lady Stephanie McMahon, in a form of petty Revenge by Proxy on her father who banished him to the Badlands as punishment for his crimes. Raising hordes of ravenous undead and dispatching man-hungry monsters to attack his enemies' various kingdoms, Lord Heenan attacks and imprisons young princess Ava in order to force her father High Chief Dwayne Johnson to bow to him, and when he fails to keep her locked up, he settles for murdering her uncle Rikishi in front of her and gloating about it. A thorough demonstration of how, even in a fantasy world, Humans Are the Real Monsters, Lord Heenan's only loyal supporters are either greedy, cowardly opportunists (Lord Ted DiBiase), violent madmen (the Wrestling/Ultimate Warrior), or men just as evil and depraved as he is (Scott Steiner).

Huzzah!: King Ian Holloway, like his inspiration, Luca Blight, is a ruthless, hammy determinator who reveled in his victories in battle as commander of the Honorablé Royal Army before ascending to the throne. Unlike Luca Blight, who has a blatant disregard for the lives of others, Ian is more of a Well-Intentioned Extremist who actually has a grip on his sanity and is respected by his subjects for being a peaceful and generous ruler. The False Flag Operation he started actually came from noble aspirations; knowing of his father's evil machinations, Ian assumed a pen name and published a series of exposés that revealed his father's evil plans to the kingdom of Honorablé, sparking a civil war that led to him being ousted from the throne. Ian would assume the throne shortly afterward, leading to an era of relative peace.

Used as Foreshadowing in End Of The Trail. When Big Sal meets Connie for the first time, her purple and pink outfit is given some close attention. It’s later revealed that she is a closeted lesbian. Sal points this out later, saying that it was kind of obvious given how she dresses.

A Tucsonian Tale features several instances of paranormal activity, most notably in the form of references to the mythology of the Tohono O'odham people, who are featured heavily in the webcomic. It takes place in and around modern-day Pima County, Arizona in The Gay '90s, thus fulfilling the western aspect of the trope too.

Dies Wide Open

In a particularly harrowing episode of In the Shadows, Alice dies after being shot by a crazy man with a gun who thought she was his ex, and we get to see her dead body with its wide-open, staring eyes.

Kiera and Alicia are seen doing this in one episode of Jonas Corbins Guide To Life, but it turns out that it's just the latest dance craze.

In Not If I Kick You First, Niko "invents" a dance move called the Yellow Motion, which looks a lot like one of these. By Tacticall Riposte, tensions between noble houses have split Illyasvia into three major territories (and later countries): Franach (Germany), Hannenburg (Switzerland), and Alder (Prussia). Tacticall Steamworks introduces several other "Europan" countries, including Brittania (Britain), Parsie (France), and Isis (Egypt).

All Smooth Sailing: Delta, the fourth and only escaped convict from the Nova-Manta Experiments, ended up on Captain Max's ship in search for food. Max ends up recruiting them after finding out they managed to cling to the edge of the Astronautilos even after sending it into hyperdrive. Delta is fireproof, nigh-invulnerable, and can dissect matter down to the atom to find its compounds, so they use these abilites to learn how to become a chef.

In The 12 Bosses, Cristovão Torres, the 6th of the titular bosses, is probably the most sympathetic one, having joined only because he was forced by the 5th boss, Kimiko Nakamura. He is quite polite and talkative throughout his fight, makes it known throughout it that he doesn’t want to be here, and his death may be the most sympathetic and sad one in the game.

In Three Minute Warning, a WWE AU set in the Weird West, Rikishi and his brother Umaga are members of the Purifiers, a Knight Templar band of bounty hunters who roam the West, killing werecreatures, which they all regard as evil scavenging filth. Then, one day, the Purifiers end up capturing a were-coyote called Ember Moon, and are preparing to lynch her, despite Ember's only crime being stealing food to support her starving family. The two Samoans, disgusted by their comrades' actions, beat them all unconscious and shoot their boss, JBL, before setting Ember free to return to her family, and planning to take a kinder attitude towards so-called "monsters" from now on.

• Headspace would be a traditional Cosmic Horror Story, what with a vaguely humanoid, multicolored mass of static that can permanently kill whatever it attacks and exists outside of the game's "reality" as a Glitch Entity serving as the Big Bad... but it is, fundamentally, a JRPG with all that implies — in all but 2 endings, the aforementioned Eldritch Abomination is destroyed by the efforts of Moon and their True Companions. In the best ending, Moon can even potentially make peace with it!

In the first book of Tricksters, Vanessa Hillary and her trickster friends are forced to take shelter in the Cool Car belonging to her high school's Alpha Bitch from none other than Sekhmet. Sekhmet can attack people by shooting arrows made of fire from her eyes, so Vanessa takes the Alpha Bitch's perfume bottle and sprays it in Sekhmet's eyes while the flames are building up, so Sekhmet ends up setting fire to her own face and the heroes can make a getaway.

Talk Show with Fists

The final boss of Video Game/ WrestleVania has Stephen sit down for a chat with Count Smack-You-La, during which he attempts to break you by talking. If you've used too much Heat over the course of the game, you actually take him up on the offer, and the final fight is a Dual Boss against Johnny Wreckface and Mia Culpa.
