Prim, proper, and yet so socially awkward
Predates Angry Birds, actually. They are the main characters of Peep and the Big Wide World, a show I liked as a kid. (The chick is Peep, the red bird is Chirp, and Quack is the...er...duck.) I really couldn't tell you why they have those designs quite honestly. (The other animal characters have more realistic (though still cartoony) proportions.) The show is pretty good for a kid's educational show, though.

Slagar the Cruel from Mattimeo. This is him in the Animated Adaptation. In this picture, he's acting as the ringmaster/magician of a circus act he set up to sneak into Redwall Abbey, drug the adults to make them fall asleep, and kidnap the children.
