I enjoyed Garfield as Spider-Man. I'd rather he just get brought into the MCU. Or get someone to play Miles. Preferably someone play Miles.
Another reboot? :S
I like to keep my audience riveted.I thought Garfield was a fantastic Spider-Man. Sony got rid of him because he said negative things about Executive Meddling on Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Also it's pretty rare in general for actors to reprise their roles for reboots.
I wouldn't mind seeing Andrew Garfield in a different MCU role though.
With Spider-Man now a part of the MCU, rebooting again was inevitable.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Honestly, I just hate that they're going with a teenaged Peter again. I'll keep an open mind though.
As he's part of a major cinematic universe now, starting as a teenager gives him more room to learn and grow throughout the sequels and crossover films, and also avoids the question, "If he's been an established superhero for fifteen years, where the hell was he during the Battle of New York?"
There was never a chance in hell he was going to enter the MCU as an adult, already-established Spider-Man. It just wouldn't mesh with either the storytelling medium of choice or the films that came before. What they should do to mitigate the negative reception, however, is skim over the origin story like Incredible Hulk did.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I felt he was a terrible Peter Parker, he didn't pull off dorky the way Macguire did, the transformation wasn't nearly as impressive (albeit, it was a reboot, so maybe it was intentionally glossed over).
That said, he was a much better Spider Man, quipping and fighting at the same time, whereas his predecessor was only funny in the first Spider-Man.
I'm really not looking forward to another reboot. How are they going to tell us Peter got his powers this time, make Aunt May even younger and give Peter a job at the Bugle right off the bat? If they want my attention, take an Elseworld like Spider Man Ruin or Spider Man 2099 and make a film about it, don't do the same tired, as-close-to-616-as-possible story.
Or make a Sinister Six film, like was promised. Make a movie about the villain, Suicide Squad's happening, don't lose your edge Marvel.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Agreed. If they introduce him as an adult, then they can never do teenage Peter Parker without either making it a prequel or do some convoluted time travel and/or de-aging plot. But if they introduce him as a teenager, then they can easily do adult Peter Parker down the road.
My guess is that his appearance in Civil War will be almost immediately after he becomes Spider-Man, and his solo movie will pick up with him being Spider-Man for a year-ish but still in High School.
The fact they are skipping his origin story, which is 100% confirmed, will hopefully help set it apart from the previous versions. Having said that I do hope they at least pull in some aspects of other continuities to shake things up a bit. I'm personally hoping they opt to use something closer to the Spider-Gwen incarnation of Gwen Stacy rather then going the more traditional route. Really having multiple Spider-powered protagonists in general has a lot of narrative potential.

They'll never do that. The whole reason why Marvel negotiated the rights was to stick Spider-Man into their current cinematic universe, and doing Spidey 2099 or Ruins goes against the whole purpose of that.
The good news is that, until the MCU goes away, this is probably going to be the last reboot Spider-Man goes through.
If they pull their cards right, this won't feel like a reboot at all - just a The Other Darrin situation like what happened with Bruce Banner. Besides Peter being back in high school, of course.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I don't know if I want to "feel" any hint of The Amazing Spider-Man Series in 3-boot Peter's film.
So basically just tossing ASM 2 out the window while giving the Broad Strokes treatment to ASM 1?
That's acceptable.
They're not continuing from either ASM film, broad strokes or no. It's a reboot, though they won't bother retelling the origin yet again.

So here's the million dollar question: Who's going to be the Big Bad of the movie? I would presume it would be a villain who hasn't appeared in any of the previous films. Spidey does have a big Rogues Gallery, so it's all down to who can hold up a film by himself. I think Kraven might be the most likely candidate, if only because they might adapt a bit of Kraven's Last Hunt.
Kraven is legitimately one of Spider-Man's best villains and Kraven's Last Hunt is an all-time classic.. I'd enjoy seeing him on the big screen.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Kraven could easily be a great First Villain for 3boot Spidey. Kraven tracking Spider-Man, visiting crime scenes he was at, discovering clues and gathering information could be a good way of delivering information to the audience as to what we can expect from this Spider-Man without having to go through the arduous detail of showing the origin again.
Instead of, "Meet the new Spidey," the scenes are, "Meet Kraven and follow his investigation for a while."

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I once joked to my friends the best idea would be to do a Kraven mockumentary found footage film where we see the world through the eyes of a documentary crew working with/kidnapped by/coerced by Kraven the Hunter, and so Kraven basically roams around in New York, presenting superheroes and villains as if they were wild animals and attempting to hunt some of them like a superpowered Steve Irwin.
Look me dead in the eye and tell me you don't want to see this film

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Especially since supers are just now starting to be a thing as a whole in the Marvel Universe, with the inhumans on the cusp of becoming a worldwide thing thanks to fish oil. Kraven could be really cool as a hunter who, fascinated by people with superpowers, has dedicated himself to hunting them down. He could be a merc / The Heavy working for a true Big Bad, a Big Bad himself with some sort of superhuman slaver ring or something, or anything in between.
Granted, that idea would work even better if there were another innocent/heroic super involved that was also in Kraven's crosshairs. It'd be an interesting way to introduce Miles Morales or Anya Corazon.

Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre Adventure… I wonder, is there any example of a series that was rebooted twice in the same decade?
Yeah, this seems rather excessive.
Personally speaking... I am not liking these news, so I probably won't stick around for long.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!I find Watts an odd choice, considering that I wasn't a fan of the last film he did (Clown). Cop Car does look like fun, so I may be a tad bit bias.
Who knows? Maybe he'll surprise us, just like James Gunn did.
The Punisher (2004) and Punisher: War Zone.

So some news on this is finally coming out. Earlier they announced that Andrew Garfield would not be returning, which is awesome because he makes a terrible Spider-Man.
They're going for a younger Spider-Man this time, and narrowed the role down to a handful of actors. Asa Butterfield was in the running, but sadly he lost out. Sucks, he's great.
