I'm inclined to agree with pruning the bad wicks and making it In Universe Only.
Yeah, maybe a rename as well if it's a stock phrase.

I checked another ten wicks all I found was troper tics.

You folks do realize it's been around since 2010? That is long before the No New Stock Phrases policy. So why should we give a long, clunky name to a trope that is widely known for being short and pithy, and which already has a name that the outside world gave it years, probably decades, ago.

This page started out being about the troper tic and was later redefined to avoid confusion with the trope.
I think it was about whether the rule against stock phrases. In any case, what about designating this page In-Universe only to bring the troper tics?

Making something In Universe Examples Only is a big change (given the wick cleaning it needs) so it should be discussed here.

That's what I'm trying to do. I think it has decayed into a troper tic. Making it In-universe only would help cure that.

So not only was this originally about the troper tic, the last TRS originally thought it was already about the trope when it wasn't, and even after that changed it stayed on the Predefined Messages list for some time and even today the description still refers to its use as a troper tic.
Speaking personally I think making trope pages for tics is and has always been stupid.

I was going to say it was probably not worth the effort, but apparently it only has 169 wicks so actually that seems pretty doable.
Well, one option (aside from simple cleanup) would be to append a marker word (like the "disclaimer" in "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer) to the "Bonus Points" to clarify that it's not just a troper word.

This page is supposed to be about a stock phrase using in media. Instead it's being used as a troper tic in a similar manner to Up To Eleven. If an editor likes something, they pothole this page to it. If they want to talk about a scenario that would be an Exaggerated Trope or simply "more x" they pothole to this page.

That's 3 in-universe uses and 17 troper tics. There were three or so more in addition to this list, but I removed them. Then I realized the problem was bigger than simply pruning. This page is not being used as a trope. There are 252 wicks as of this post, and if the above is any indication, the vast bulk of them are not examples. Dare I say it, it's turning into another I Am Not Making This Up. It should be designated as In-universe only and all the others should be deleted.
By the way, when was this page launched? I thought we weren't making Stock Phrase pages anymore.
