And the caption doesn't help, either.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Yeah this one's a bit too Fan Myopic and it is really a ring, not a disc. Pull, suggestions for a replacement.
Wrong trope, so pull.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAgreed on the pull...unsure if it's better than Rings of Death's current pic.
I don't think so, no clear suggestion of being a ring of doom like the OP says.
What's wrong with her face? Um, yeah, that's a ring, not a disk, though the current on Rings of Death is a bit hard to see, since it's behind her and kind of hidden away.

But those aren't discs, the guy who's shooting them is even called The Hoopster (or at least acting like some villain named The Hoopster)!

In use (kinda) over on Hoist by His Own Petard. Is it a dupe or not? Never were very clear on their use in collages.

Side note - I moved the RL folder on this page to Rings of Death since chakrams are rings.
Saw blades, C Ds and vinyls is mentioned in the description and they have holes in the middle too. Having a hole or not isn't important for the trope.

So... where do we draw the line between discs and rings? Technically anything with a hole is a ring and yeah, I know it's a TRS thing to discuss but it'd be way easier if we delineated these things.
My personal rule of thumb would be, if the hole's radius is less than 1/3 the entire object's radius, it's more a disc than a ring. Also, whether or not you can wrap your fingers around the inner surface is a good delineator.

Krillin's Destructo Disk doesn't have a hole I don't think.
Besides, it's called a "disk."
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseIf we can help it let's not have a hole in the disc we decide to use, got enough bad examples anyway. I do like 15.2.

I like 15.1 because it looks more like a disk and less like an oval.
Is really ring/disk the distincion between these tropes? I though the distinction was how they where used.

That's a question for TRS.
Well, the question is if the image illustrates the trope.

For now, I'd assume if it has a hole of any diameter then we shouldn't use it to avoid confusion.
I second that assumption.
For now I really do fancy 15.1.

But from the quote above, Rings of Death actually links to Deadly Disc, so if the latter is a supertrope of the former, then technically the current does illustrate, right?
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
The current image is Rings of Death, not this trope. Plus, it doesn't really look like a weapon in this picture.
