Not sure if you should add the latest, Go Princess Precure, since they just started, so I suggest the girls from Max Heart to Happiness Charge.

And now I had a random idea for a fic where Chase is a hero and his allies are various Roidmudes, with Judge being akin to the Second Rider.

So in Imperial Japan, Human subjugates Roidmudes?

Dammit, I was going to use that in my Agito/Devilman thing.

Hell, someone mentioned a Kamen Rider/Shin Megami Tensei around here? Maybe he could use that to insult the gods in Megaten or something.

Well, early me is near-crippled by my inferiority complex and self-hatred, almost entirely reliant on Agito's instinctual ability/drive to do anything combat-wise.

So I figured I'd have SI-me go crazy-ass in the other direction for the endgame, as a reward for the readers putting up with my angst early on.

Make sure Akira snap SI-You out of his crazier stupor. Someone needs to be the sane one, and the Fudo Akira is it.

How far has the Agito x Devilman fic reach, anyway?

I have put exactly 0 words to paper on it.

Also, have you even SEEN Devilman?! Post-merging Akira's the sane man only by virtue of not being terrified out of his mind like the rest of humanity. Really, the sane man would be that cynical bastard Ryo Asuka a.k.a. Satan.

That would be me. I've actually added Agito to my list since it's concept is fighting against the creator, and that's a pretty big thing for Shin Megami Tensei as a whole.

I've read Devilman, and I remember stopping around the... turtle demon. Goddamn, the turtle demon.

Even though Akira's possessed, he's still kinda sorta sane right?

And Rob, ya should add that line cuz it would be nuts. Although, it depends on what's happening. Speaking of which, when does the Kamen Rider x SMT takes place? The first two SMT, Nocturne, or 4?

... Do they even take place in the same universe?

It's kinda one part Crossover Fic, one part Alternate Universe Fic.

For at least one basic concept, consider how Demons are used and summoned, think about what comps are, and how demons merge with humans, and then consider how Mons have become something of a staple of Kamen Rider, and that's a bit of it right there.

I've still got a lot to do though. I'm considering using characters from Persona5, which means I have to wait a bit, unless I go back to someone from a previous game. In the meantime, I'll use that time to keep looking up different series, finish Shin Megami Tensei IV, and maybe watch some clips of Devil Survivor and Devil Survivor 2.

Akira still has affection for people close to him, and he still has logic and reason.

However, he's also an Axe-Crazy Blood Knight who seriously enjoys it when he gets to RIP AND TEAR on the devil of the week. I mean, Akira Fudou is the man who supposedly reincarnates into Violence Jack of all people!

You seriously need to finish reading the classic manga. I'm currently in the process of rereading it, after which I'll watch the first and second OV As (already saw the third OVA a year or two ago, but I'll rewatch it since that's my source for AMON's characterization) as well as read the AMON manga. And then at some point I also plan to read Devilman Lady, since it ran nearly four times longer than the original did (18 volumes for Lady, vs 5 volumes for the original).

I remember Bennett's take on that scene.

Actually, there is! And it's even canon (sort of)!

Episode 7 of New Cutie Honey has Akira as a guest star. He doesn't transform (indeed, he appears to be a Badass Normal delinquent - but still a One-Man Army!!), but he's got the Devilman attitude, there's a lot of Devil/Angel symbolism in their dialogue, and he and Honey do get some Ship Tease near the end of the episode.

Akira: "By the way, I never did thank you, Honey... for that piece of heaven you showed me earlier. <smirk>"

Honey: "Piece of heav- <Luminescent Blush>"

New Cutie Honey also, incidentally, has Honey's character closer to the original manga than Re:Cutie Honey or even the 70's anime do.

Also, Akira's voice in the english dub of New Cutie Honey is Brett Weaver, a.k.a. Gai Daigoji and his Identical Stranger, and IIRC Roy Fokker in the ADV dub of Super Dimension Fortress Macross.

Which came first anyway for Cutey Honey, the manga or the anime? Because not all anime started as adaptations from manga, light novels, etc.

I'm glad your favorite actor is voicing him... Even though I've no idea who he is, I'm sure he's one of the great ones.

....and come to think of it, Guts would be pretty much at home in the world of Violence Jack, too (as would Kenshiro, for that matter)...

Anyway.

Looking at our own trope article for Cutie Honey, if one takes a look at the Character Exaggeration/Flanderization entry, it does appear that the manga legit came first, and then the anime adaptation happened alongside it or shortly afterward. Pretty sure such is also true with Uncle Go's other works, Devilman and Mazinger Z.

Also, for the record, Spike Spencer (Akito Tenkawa, Ginta Toramizu, and, yes, Shinji Ikari) is my favorite voice actor. But I do massively respect Brett Weaver because GAI DAIGOJI!

But just because manga versions have cooler things doesn't mean the anime version isn't. Look at Super Robot Wars, specifically the older games. Classic anime Ryoma is just as badass as manga Ryoma... just not that hotblooded.

Plus you don't see anyone complaining that Hongo Takeshi's personality should be based on the manga version... Speaking of which, really wish there's an anime version for that. As you know, Ishinomori Shotaro had created shitloads of awesome manga, and Kamen Rider is one of them.

First. Takeshi Hongo is badass regardless of continuity. Second. AFAIK, the difference between manga Hongo and TV Hongo is fairly minimal. Third. My complaint isn't that Takeshi Hongo should have been based on the manga, it's that Hayato Ichimonji should have been based on the manga.

Fourth. The decrease in Hot-Blooded is less a strike against the old Getter anime than the much greater decrease in Axe-Crazy. And we have Getter Armageddon and New Getter Robo to make up for it, anyway.

Fifth. Which is still less of an issue than the Mazinger Z anime turning Sayaka from the sweet type of tsundere into the more hostile type.

Although I will grant that the Getter, Mazinger, and Cutie Honey themes are all catchy as hell.

Also, I am aware that a lot of things are Anime First. I'm also aware that a lot of the time, the adaptation simply has flaws/deficiencies compared to the original, regardless of which medium is which (manga to anime vs anime to manga).

Seriously though, I get your point. But I think this is the first time you told me WHY you don't like Ichimonji Hayato; he's not the manga version.

I've only seen some bits with him from the manga, but manga Ichimoni is awesome.

Manga Ichimonji is a badass atoner.

TV Ichimonji is, at least early on, a smug jerk.

Someone needed to balance Hongo's seriousness with some goofiness, and they made Ichimonji like that to do just that... Is what I think anyway.

Okay, so... To ask further for that special episode of Super Sentai meets Pretty Cure...

• So how would the setting kind of go? Sentai goes 'anime version' like Precure, or Precure goes 'real world' like Sentai? Or mix-match like Abaranger? And if it's mix-match, will this take place on real world or anime world?
• I'll need a plot draft for the 'enemy team up thing'. Doesn't have to be complex. But it will definitely involve Black Hole. Just... how? Who should gain upper hand in the end, the Sentai villain or Black Hole?
• Arranging the Precure team. Should it be 'Pick anyone you like' or 'Make sure only one Cure per color'? And lastly... how many Precures should be in my team? Well, my Sentai team each has 7 colors: Red, Blue, Pink, Black, Yellow, Green, White (though the team becomes 8 due to an additional Pink, because of plot). What are the color designations of the Cure so I can correctly pick them? (for instance, not sure which color Cure Moonlight would be. White? Purple?)

Not that I'm an expert, but exactly which Sentai members are you using?

As for the "live-action vs anime" question, my input? Just don't worry about it. There being a medium difference is more a fourth-wall distinction to the viewer, than it is any kind of In-Universe thing.

I mean, Harry Potter originated with text (and occasional illustration) novels before then being adapted to live-action film, but it's understood that the In-Universe characters of the book version perceive their own reality as being "live-action".

Also basically, just treat them like actual characters in their own verses, not just 'which one is real which one is anime'. Then again the original Precure has crossed over with both Dekarangers and Magirangers.
